  • This week on Football Daily we are looking at 10 managers silencing their haters! From the Premier League we look at Eddie Howe’s work at Newcastle and Unai Emery’s transformation of Aston Villa, then take a trip to the Championship where Rob Edwards is mocking Watford by guiding Luton Town to greatness.
    In Italy we look at Maurizio Sarri’s work at Lazio, Thiago Motta’s revival of Bologna and Jose Mourinho’s rejuvenation of Roma, before heading to Spain where Xavi and Qique Setien are both excelling. All that, plus much more!

    Simeone couldve definetly made the list, halfway through the season it seemed his departure was imminent after a horrific ucl exit and the club seemingly battling for 4th 5th or even 6th place, yet after the world cup he completly turned the ship around and atleti is now battling real madrid for that 2nd place, hopefully the club gets in the right players for a GIANT rebuild in the summer, for years now they have been hunted by the wrong transfer decisions.

    It may sound crazy, but Mourinho is underrated. Everyone loves to slander him for falling off, but how could he have won anything of note at either of his last two clubs? The only difference between the old Mou and this one is that this one is wise enough not to have outbursts at every media interaction

    • @thomasvrielink299
      @thomasvrielink299 Год назад +1

      To say he didn't win anything of note at Roma is slanderous as well. Roma hadn't won anything in Europe for an extremely long time before Mourinho, and I don't even know whether Roma's other European accolades can be considered "of note".

I'm happy to discover you're not one to devalue the Conference League simply because it doesn't really appeal to the biggest English clubs.
      At Man Utd Jose did win trophies as well though, jokingly referred to as the poor man's treble. I don't see a one-off game like the Community Shield as a trophy of note, but I wouldn't devalue the victory of a League Cup or especially a Europa League, even for a club of the stature of Man Utd, and especially during that era of its history.
