@@tomthecat9317Sorry for responding, you were asking someone else, but maybe you can find me to be helpful! Just from your range alone, I think you are a baritone.

You have a very wide vocal range from soprano in your very highest range to 2nd bass in your very lowest range although you say you're most comfortable as a middle weight baritone.
@@MichaelHoare-vr7mopls what. Dont make any indications or tell ppl what voice type they are if you’ve never heard them. He could be a bass/tenor with an extensive range, but you can’t just tell people what they are based on comments online.
My vocal range is D3 - A5 , my vocal coach said me that I'm a high tenor between Lyric and Leggero Tenor, but I think all the voices are unique indepently of what sounds because Music joins us , and that's the point 🎶🎶🎶💪
I may not have one of the very highest male voice types in the world, but it's still high enough to reach SOME feminine notes. Even if my voice stays south of A4, that still covers most of the contralto region and I WILL sing up to Ab4 when I cover "Alone" by Heart in a lower key that does not exceed that note, knowing that I can just as easily sing all the way down to Gb2. Gb2 to Ab4 is the area where I would enjoy singing that song and I can deliver sheer power on middle C. I often look at the music of powerhouse mezzo-sopranos with powerful C5 notes and I will often move their C5's down to C4 because it's the C4 that is one of my powerhouse notes. That is exactly why I sing an octave down from Celine Dion with her song, "It's All Coming Back To Me." I would not sound very good, singing Michael Jackson in the same high keys that he sang in, but I can do a lot of stuff, transposing music from all the different voice types, both male and female. I know there are some very high tenors whose voices are consistently among feminine notes around a treble clef C, but that is not me. Being a powerhouse with a lower voice, I sing most comfortably around that middle C. I can make that G3 to G4 range sound big and exciting on my voice.

Thanks for recognising Aj Mitchell, he is truly an exceptional tenor. His tone is extremely beautiful, he has an insane control and he has a great technique better than Bruno Mars's.
This is so interesting, I’ve always wondered what I am vocally. My highest A6 (whistle) E5 (chest/mix) and my lowest note is a D2 but I’ve never been able to hit it again my comfortable lows are G2 and up depending on the day
@@rorschach5883 it is a form of resonance in the voice (the location varies from person to person) but essentially, it’s a sound that sounds like a witch cackling to access higher notes. As you ascend in pitch (for males ESPECIALLY), you want to lighten your vocal weight and lean on that twangy, pharyngeal resonance while still maintaining some elements of chest so that it does indeed sound like a belt. What this person is probably commenting is that he goes up to E5 chest, but in reality, it’s probably just pharyngeal resonance alone with no chest, which gives the sound a metallic timber with no vocal weight. It’s kind of like cheating and “placing it in the mask”
Im definitely between tenor and baritone.. But i got a few questions tho, does the range in the video include head voice or only chest register? Because i want to find my voice type, understand it better and copy some artist of the same voice type to help learn my voice more.. Even with example above, im not sure are their voice is just high or they taught themselves to sing high because a lot of baritone also sang high.. I am absolutely untrained so i can either do chest/head only and i cant mix so i don't know where i belong😂.. The only indication that i know now is my speaking voice is soft and quite high (people always mistaken me for a lady when on the phone) and my head voice can go up to B5 but i just cant belt high.. I always love singing but since i was a kid (i only sing in my room and using head voice only cuz it isnt as loud as chest - i guess my voice is not that high my head voice is good just bcuz i pretty much sing with it most of the time
You're either a lyric baritone or possibly low tenor. You're untrained so you're still developing. Everyone's voice is unique, so you'll learn to eventually sing your own voice.
@@TheBboyRyujin Awwhh thank you for your reply that is so sweet.. I never thought anyone would actually reply to this haha thanks again.. Update: currently trying to explore my chest register and lower part of my voice more👍💪❤️
Another good video from you. I also expected tenorino in this vid since that is the highest voice type of tenor. Their secondo passaggio is G#4/A4. Aj mitchell seems to be one (or leggero tenor)
I wouldn’t completly agree that tenor range extends usually from c3 to C5 it is the range in Opera roles were written. I would sa that tenor natural range is from f2 to g#4. Everything above is a tehnique. Also baritones and basses do not have their Opera ranges, but a lot lower. For abatitone g4 is a belt like c5 is for a tenor. While g4 for a tenor is still a middle voice
I am a baritone, singing at karaoke on Starmaker. Recently, I tried to push to the limit by singing the following songs : 1. Save Me, We Are The Champions by Queen 2. I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner 3. Bed Of Roses, Always, Never Say Goodbye by Bon Jovi 4. When I See You Smile by Bad English I pushed my self and managed to hit the high notes all with chest voice.
Tenors and Altos share about 2/3rds of the same notes. In a 4 part choir Tenors and Altos are known as The middles because they're the two middle sections.
Countertenor is a gray area between an actual voice type and a role within opera. Lots of operatic countertenors are really baritones or regular tenors who know how to use falsetto very well. There is a subtype of the tenor called the tenore contraltino, which is a squeaky high tenor singing in the range of a contralto or perhaps even a mezzo-soprano.
My voice A2-F4 chest voice F4-A5 head/falsetto range but can also belt like light lyric soprano not powerful A5-D8 falsetto/whistle I consider myself countertenor
Hey, mine's quite similar! I have a pretty deep voice though, considering I'm a woman. I can hit a B#2 at the lowest, but it's pretty difficult, and quite quiet in comparison to the rest. This extends up to about B4, before it starts to get pretty weak, as well. That said, if I'm really pushing it, I can go from about G#2 to D#5. That all said though, my preferred range is between D3 and G4.
I am 15 and i don't know what is my voice type . My first passiaggo is d4 and second is f4 . I'm untrained. I strain b4 and C5 sometimes. My lowest note is Eb3
Mine is Low : e2 Chest : b4 Mix : c5,d5 and e5 also g5 but not comfortable with g5 Head voice : d6 Whistle : i don't know how do that even i can't finger whistle 😂
I'm a tenor, and my voice type is the same as Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden . I can comfortably sing his songs. It's pretty easy for me to sing his high and low notes. I also identify with the voice of Bono Vox from the band U2.
I have a question. I know that I'm a tenor because my voice sounds very similar to Andrea Bocelli. Whenever I sing his song everybody compliments on how good it sounds. My question is this: I can't sing anything else. Could anyone explain to me why I can sing Andrea Bocelli songs but I can't sing a simple pop song?
Thanks its hard work 😖❤ I'm a Tenore Contraltino (male contralto basically) but i trained my voice to go super low as well. I'd say my range is roughly F2-D#5. I go super low by dropping my larnyx and using overtones and distortion. Of course my voice won't sound as thick as David Phelps. That guy is a monster! I do decent character impressions too. That probably helped develop my range lol I'd say my voice is most similar to Neil Sedaka. Thanks for showing this hobbyist nobody some love ❤ cheers!

@@italo9127 Your comfortable range and your full chest voice range is far more important. You can always stretch your vocal range with mixed voice, vocal fry and falsetto. Of course the weight of your voice and your age is also important. I am guessing that you are still young? Then you will have a lyrical voice. It will either be a Lyric Tenor voice or a Lyric Baritone voice. Have you learned to sing pass your passaggio or break in your voice? Sometimes inexperienced tenors first need to learn to sing pass the passaggio. If your full voice goes to G4 then you are Lyric Baritone or a Lyric Tenor that needs experience, and that needs to learn to sing in mixed voice. Baritones do not have low voices, it is a middle voice. The middle register is the most important in the baritone voice. Baritones will rarely sing their lowest notes, it is a voice that needs to be strong in the middle register, around C3 - E4. Where does your voice break into falsetto? An example of a high baritone is Ed Sheeran.
@@ZENOBlAmusic Yes, I'm young, I'm 20 years old! I never had the opportunity to take vocal lessons because of the neighborhood. I also have a vocal break when I sing higher, because I don't have support at the time! I only got it once I only got to go A#4. And my falsetto voice goes into D5-G#5
@@italo9127 Then you are likely a lyric tenor. You need to learn to sing past your break or the passaggio in mixed voice. Look for someone on RUclips like ‘New York Vocal Coaching’. He gives some very good lessons online. There are many free online lessons these days.
Just want y'alls opinion on my vocal range or voice type On average, my chest notes range from A1-A4 (chest/fry mix down to F#1 and chest/head mix up to C5) and falsetto up to C6. I'm 24 years old and I've been singing for about 12 years. I try to sing pieces that help expand my vocal range. My speaking voice is vastly different from my singing voice (my speaking voice is deep and projects, but I sound like a baritone in the 4th and 5th octave).
3:57 andrea bocelli is a real soprantenor hes vocal range is from e1-d5 its too high and He can sing bass bariton tenor sopran all this voice typ he can sing
You're definitely a baritone. I am, too, and I have a similar range, but I can not whistle, and my highest possible note is F#5 on head voice/falsetto with strain. I believe I am a lyric baritone.
@@AheeanRahamanyes it is very likely. as a dramatic tenor F4 is not a real belt because it is my passagio (in pop music standards) and I can effortlessly get to G5 in falsetto (actually the lower voices might even get higher)

Tbh i’ve been studying music for a while but i still get confuse over my voice type…i felt like i’m a high baritone but there’s have been different opinion about my voice from different voice teacher…some said high baritone and some said low tenor…i felt more comfortable around my upper 2nd octave and lower 3rd octave rather than upper 3rd octave to lower 4th octave…it seems like note i have to put more effort for B3 and above…in this case it is more likely that i’m a baritone isn’t?
If third octave is high for you, then you are probably a baritone. And if you show effort above G4 you are probably a baritone... Anyway, sing in a comfortable tone for you!
Most people in their 20's have lyrical voices. "Low" tenors is a misnomer, they actually tenors with very powerful voices and they can often sing just as high and higher ten lyric tenors. You are a lyric baritone. Most people start as lyric baritones.
Okay, if I’m not mistaken… Example 1 (1:30) was a spinto tenor. Example 2 (2:10) was a dramatic tenor. Example 3 (3:12) was a lyric tenor. Example 4 (3:56) was another dramatic tenor. No leggero tenors?? 🥺🥺
I believe u r right .. the two of them are probably dramatic tenors.. AJ sound like bigger voice with range and lyric sound .. lyric tenor would be Bruno mars since he and I have similar weight and timbre … a think a lot of pop singers like Justine Bieber and Micheal Jackson were classified mistakenly as light lyric tenors while their timbre is lyric baritones ..
Thomas Anders from Modern Talking, Michael Jackson and Steven Tyler are also great examples of tenors. Steven Tyler would be an example of a dramatic tenor, whereas Michael and Thomas could both be considered lyric tenors
Lol, I never thought I would some day hear the name Modern Talking mentioned in the context of serious singing. When you listen to their songs you sometimes don’t even know how many of the voices even belong to themselves.
@@Raphaelmusicofficial Well, the chorus in the head voice in every one of Modern Talking songs was sung by the guitarist Dieter Bohlen. He’s not a really experienced singer and therefore his vocals needed to be edited somehow so that it wouldn’t sound as funny as on the original demo. Whereas the Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders is a way more experienced and talented singer. I personally like his voice
Yes, I shortly checked something by them. Thomas‘ voice indeed has some light qualities in the upper range which you could consider as lyric tenor timbre but I don’t believe that he ever had a really good singing technique because he sounds a bit flat and one dimensional. And the other thing with the higher vocals is interesting because there has been a group of session singers who have claimed for years that they sang a lot of background vocals for Modern Talking and have never been credited for it which Dieter Bohlen has always denied to be true.
@@Raphaelmusicofficial You’re right about Thomas’ voice. I personally think that he’s quite a good singer, although at times he does sound a bit flat. Also, I do know about a group of singers who sang background vocals for Modern Talking, but in the beginning, it was Dieter Bohlen who did that too
So, all of these guys are classified as tenors but they all sound so different. Andrea Boccelli does not sound like Bruno Mars; his voice sounds a lot lower to me. So, what is the difference??
The difference is technique, the lowing of the larynx creates a darker sound. These classifications in the video are very wrong. Bocelli in opera terms is actually a very light leggero tenor. Phelps is a full lyric tenor, the others are light light lyric tenors. There are no spinto and dramatic tenors here. An example of a dramatic tenor in pop is Tom Jones. Spinto and dramatic tenors are extremely rare. Bocelli trained under Franco Corelli, go and listen to his voice, he was a real dramatic - spinto, listen to his Nessun Dorma or E Lucevan le Stelle.
@@ZENOBlAmusic Imo, Bocelli has a voice that's weakened by his technique, he has a heavier voice than he seems to have he just doesn't have the same good technique he had earlier in his career (back then sometimes he'd sing light and bright in a stylistic way such as when singing "La Donna e Mobile" from Verdi's Rigoletto). I think he's definitely a full-lyric tenor who doesn't know how to sing with weight properly.
Countertenor is actually the highest range that a male can get to. Countertenor sounds a lot like the Contralto which is the lowest for the female range.
Lmao😂 my man born with 1 octave your singing or testing it wrong don’t strain yourself when ur not even straining man and no I don’t believe ur voice is a bass either because bass are very very rare a3 is the middle voice for male where even a bass the lowest could still feel comfortable singing at a3
Can come one help? 😔 I’m a tenor 1 but I struggle with mixed voice and I want to be able to sing high notes like these. My head voice is quite capable but I want mixed voiced for that added power sometimes
@@rorschach5883 no, they have to use a different coordination. Really good vocalists know how to mask it to make it sound like chest when it’s a mix of pharyngeal and chest resonances. Amateurs can do it but there’s a notably different shift in tone when they do it from chest.
@@rorschach5883 it's different for everyone, but in classical opera, there are specific tenors who have to hit a C5 in full voice to be classified as such
From your description, it could probably be a tenor! But I'm not sure because its comfort range is C4-G4 and that's the range of a baritone. You too can be a Baritenor... And one more important point, what is your timbre? Light, Heavy, Velvety?!
@@supervocal3039 Alright so my teacher said that my timbre Is kind of light, but my voice Is not as high and light as Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars or Sting. However I don't think I'm a baritone cause I can't go any lower than Bb2, while baritones have the F2 at the bottom. And by the way I have a friend who Is classified as a baritone and he already struggles at an Eb4
@@ZENOBlAmusic Yes I agree David is warmer and more rounded than a true spinto and doesn't have the same level of squillo. He also doesn't sound like a teenager but instead a grown man, so instead of being light-lyric he'd be full-lyric.

On a good day I can go as low as E2 and as high as G5 (without falsetto, which can go higher than C6 for me), but no matter what I can always hit G2 to E5; not sure I can be called a tenor though due to how the vocal classifications work (contralto is what would be used for me) :/
1.) when you go up especially in upper 4th octave to 5th octave, does ur speaking voice goes higher in pitch or do you rely on that witchy forward sound called pharyngeal placement. If you do, then don’t consider that chest. If you’re a male, you’re most likely using that. 2.) contralto is used for females only so
For point of note, I'm assigned female at birth here, so... that's why I was saying contralto would likely be used for me; hope that clears up any confusion lmao ^w^ Also nonbinary people are cool and if you don't like them that's a you problem, not a me problem :3
kellin quinn is my propic lol ahaha anyway is a very trained high light tenor. he is very far away from an average male singer, more more higher than a typical tenor
@@bradycall1889 Countertenors are rare, but neither a "breed" nor a biological voice type. This is so interesting, I’ve always wondered what I am vocally. My highest A6 (whistle) E5 (chest/mix) and my lowest note is a D2 but I’ve never been able to hit it again my comfortable lows are G2 and up depending on the day
Pharyngeal “witch” mix should not count in terms of actual chest voice
@@Tzuyuuu. What is pharyngeal mix?

What do u mean by "everything above is a technique"?

It says tenor is the highest male voice. The highest male voice is actually countertenor.
🙄
Countertenor is a gray area between an actual voice type and a role within opera. Lots of operatic countertenors are really baritones or regular tenors who know how to use falsetto very well. There is a subtype of the tenor called the tenore contraltino, which is a squeaky high tenor singing in the range of a contralto or perhaps even a mezzo-soprano.
Not every countertenor sings in falsetto tho.
My timbre is most similar to AJ Mitchell and Bruno Mars, light and androgynous. What type of tenor would that make me?
Lyric or leggero

I have a question. I know that I'm a tenor because my voice sounds very similar to Andrea Bocelli. Whenever I sing his song everybody compliments on how good it sounds. My question is this: I can't sing anything else. Could anyone explain to me why I can sing Andrea Bocelli songs but I can't sing a simple pop song?

Lyric Baritone.
@@ZENOBlAmusic But the lyrical baritone ranges from A2-G4 and my voice doesn't reach A2 easily!

On average, my chest notes range from A1-A4 (chest/fry mix down to F#1 and chest/head mix up to C5) and falsetto up to C6. I'm 24 years old and I've been singing for about 12 years. I try to sing pieces that help expand my vocal range. My speaking voice is vastly different from my singing voice (my speaking voice is deep and projects, but I sound like a baritone in the 4th and 5th octave).
A1 is absurd! as a low tenor I can get to E2 at most with limited volume
my full range is C#2-C6 (without whistle register) and a humble leggero tenor
3:57 andrea bocelli is a real soprantenor hes vocal range is from e1-d5 its too high and He can sing bass bariton tenor sopran all this voice typ he can sing
I'm F#2-F5. Belt up to F4-G4. Head voice A3-F5 and whistle/screaming up to B5-F7

But I agree, after watching again, Phelps high note sounds cleaner than Penrods'.
Hello for tenor, Im tenor too!
Okay, if I’m not mistaken…
Example 1 (1:30) was a spinto tenor.
The different is broccoli and David are dramatic tenors .. AJ is spinto tenor and Bruno is lyric
Countertenor is actually the highest range that a male can get to. Countertenor sounds a lot like the Contralto which is the lowest for the female range.
