Title says it all. A progressive full range warm up for tenor range singers. Starts easy enough with some gentle descending scales, quickly moves on to smooth and somewhat faster arpeggio/scale combos. Finishes up with some lip trill, range development exercises and pure vowel exercises in the upper register.
Enjoy!
My ADHD makes it near impossible to focus on vocal exercises, but for some reason this video holds my focus long enough for me to get through them. This man may or may not be a wizard, and I am 100% fine with it.
I love it! Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you can get a vocal workout with it!
As for being a wizard, I can neither confirm nor deny such suspicions.
;-)
Jeff
Same! I recommend Jeff’s videos to everyone looking for vocal warm ups. I love that he doesn’t just say do this and moves on, he plays while you do it! Actually, that’s why I’m on the tenor video right now, doing it for a friend lol
Same. We need more musicians like Jeff who have honed their craft and still remain passionate enough to educate others. It’s a beautiful thing to just learn more about something we love instead of being scared away from it like many of us were. My piano teacher used to smack my fingers with a ruler every mistake, I was fucking terrified of something I loved. Still at 40 years old, every time I open a piano i’m reminded of Ms Beatrice & her bold choice to embrace chin hairs & smacking, over empathy & education. I’d love to know what her motivation was to teach kids because the woman loathed my knuckles and fingers ✌🏻rip babe
I’m glad the world has more Jeff‘s now. Thanks Jeff!
@@JeffRolka either way you're a bad ass and i hope this is making you rich you deserve it

Im here after my son's choir audition , the trainor said he belongs to tenor , sorry for my english ,im from philippines. Im proud of my son because he has a voice.
I can’t thank you enough for this, I’m really struggling with my transition from alto to tenor, I just started testosterone a few months ago and this is helping me figure out my new range and not stress my throat so much.

Congratulations! I hope your voice is everything you wanted it to be.

Also started ftm transition a few months ago and went from coloratura soprano to tenor 😅

this is the first warm up i’ve done since learning i’m a tenor! for years i’ve been doing warm ups not intended for me and i’ve never felt more comfortable
2 things.
1st. Jeff I use this video constantly. Thanks again!
2nd. A fun game is to ask yourself a yes or no question, then pause the video at any random point. Whatever expression is on Jeff's face is the answer.
1. You're welcome! 2. Fun game! I'll have to be careful; in some of the newer videos with the cold weather my hands are struggling with some of the patterns and I make some really unfortunate facial expressions!

I really like your warmup. I'm not a tenor, but I'm a contralto. This is more comfortable than the warmups for women that I've found online.
I hurt my voice singing improperly a few months back. I've had to cancel engagements because my voice just hasn't been where I feel it usually is. I've been using these warm-ups and my voice just feels like it's getting stronger and I am more in control of it. I can’t thank you enough for your videos, Jeff! After barely singing at all during the pandemic, I finally took the courage to audition for my local cathedral choir. You exercises brought my voice back, and I just got word that I made the choir! THANK YOU!

I studied bel canto for many years and although it’s been a long time, it’s like my voice never skipped a beat! This really took me back to all those years of singing scales and concentrating on clear, bright vowels. Reminded me that my trained voice is still back there!
Wonderful to hear! Enjoy the channel and enjoy singing!
Best,

I always struggle because I, a female, have a low alto/high tenor range and never manage to quite fit into one or the other when looking for warmups. This perfectly hit my tenor range, dipping into alto without stretching my chest voice at all. Great for my daily warmups, and some of your other videos work well if I'm looking to warm up and stretch my alto/high chest voice range. Thanks so much for this!!

This is my “go to” warm up video. I use this before every rehearsal, sound check, etc. Thanks for this Jeff!
I was hit by a car as a pedestrian about one month ago (broke 16 bones and came very close to death). The hospital had a tracheal tube down my throat, which I ripped out when I woke up from my medically induced coma. They said it was likely I could have voice damage. Your videos have helped already to help me regain what I had before. Thank you so much, Jeff.
My goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that that happened to you! I wish you all the best of luck in your continued recovery.

Thank you so much for these relaxing exercises. I am training myself to be a leggerio tenor. I can sing trills and florid passages decently and my upper register is rich and powerful but anything below the A3 is weak and breathy and I always run out of stamina after fifteen minutes. I will be sure to listen to your tutorials more often.
i remember watching this when i was younger and wishing this was my natural vocal range. 1 year on testosterone later, i’m relearning my voice and your videos help me so much!
This is not only a fantastic warm up but it also helped me realize I had been singing a bit flat since I was a kid!! I've shared this with friends and family. You're helping a lot of people with these videos unquestionably. I'll never be some great singer but you've helped me to improve a lot. I want to thank you very, very much!
Thank you very much for your kind words! I made the channel in the hopes that folks would be able to use their voices a bit better and enjoy singing that much more for it! Glad to hear that the exercises are serving you in that capacity. Enjoy! Thank you for watching!

I’m a baritone, but had the role of Judas for the last couple months. This warmup helped me tons. Thanks Jeff!
I'm a trans masculine person who has been a singer since I was a kid. I was always put with the sopranos despite having a naturally deep voice. Jeff
Hey Jeff, do you have anything that has all the notes in the tenor range? Also something that spends prolonged time on the high/highest notes, as opposed to ascending to them and just coming down without staying. Not sure if I said this right, don't know any technical names. In a nutshell, if I want to a) practice all the notes and b) give the highest range in my voice a tight, tough work out what to do? Great channel, subbed and liked.

After working with this lesson for about a month the first and most powerful improvement I noticed was added strength and ease of singing in my upper chest voice. I have more confidence in my head voice and and the transition is getting smoother. I've added Jeff's Daily Vocal Workout to my lesson plan. I'm gonna keep at it Thanks Jeff
Awesome! Keep it up! The new tenor video (coming out tomorrow, Jan. 15, 2022) has loads of work in the upper chest voice area! Should compliment this warm up nicely!

Sounds odd but one of the reasons why I love this channel so much is the sound of this piano. It sounds amazing! All other channels have these digital pianos. This one is inspiring to sing to.
Thank you so much for that. I try really hard to mic it up nicely, and it's good to hear that that is coming through.

I’m a trans guy and went on testosterone about 2.5 years ago and my voice deepened to a tenor range, and these exercises have been helpful for my changing voice!
You can be delivered from that
Jeff, I want to take the time to thank you. I’ve been singing for 20 years, mostly heavy stuff, and never took any singing classes. I’ve always been struggling with a few precise things, although I’ve developed tricks to hide them and managed to have a rewarding career.
I’ve been trying for a long time to understand my flaws and learn techniques from coaches who were closer to my type of powerful voice and style, without much success. Then I found your exercices for tenors and everything fell into place. Every gig has been a breeze since then. You have changed the way I sing forever! From Montréal, merci beaucoup!
Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I am so happy to hear that the videos have helped so much! Keep enjoying the channel and great work with your singing!

Thank you SO MUCH!!! I have historically sung alto but am considering joining a local choir which is excited for another potential tenor. I can sing the entire range but have been nervous about precision. This is brilliant, and I'll practice this continuously until mid-Jan when I join my first practice.
Thank you Jeff for this awesome alto warm up exercise. I just started in my church choir and this will help me with singing in the church. If you can't find your alto range, just play around with it till you find what is comfortable for you and stick to that if that helps. I am no expert but seen some comments is all. Thanks Jeff, you remind me of my choir teacher so many years ago i worked with at Indiana State University in Indiana USA. Awesome vocal techniques.

My voice will naturally go to the notes without force. I think that's what these exercises are designed to help people achieve. Natural resonance with the tone. It's all in my pallet with these frequencies. I see where this can be very helpful. It's very weird when you have natural resonance cause you feel that each note is in a uber close position on your top pallet.
You have it exactly right.
Best,
Jeff

This is helping me so much with smoothing my pasagio out.
Jill Johnson Mann it varies from person to person, mine is around E4-F#4. Yours may or may not be there. It’s where your voice starts to crack and such, and a good exercise that I do to help smooth it out is use “Gee” on on a 5 note major scale, starting at C3 and moving up by semitones. It takes a LONG time to work it, you have to do it very often. But you will get there. (PS I’m a tenor, if you’re a baritone start lower than a C3, bass starts even lower)
