    Title says it all. A progressive full range warm up for tenor range singers. Starts easy enough with some gentle descending scales, quickly moves on to smooth and somewhat faster arpeggio/scale combos. Finishes up with some lip trill, range development exercises and pure vowel exercises in the upper register.
    Enjoy!

    My ADHD makes it near impossible to focus on vocal exercises, but for some reason this video holds my focus long enough for me to get through them. This man may or may not be a wizard, and I am 100% fine with it.

      Same! I recommend Jeff’s videos to everyone looking for vocal warm ups. I love that he doesn’t just say do this and moves on, he plays while you do it! Actually, that’s why I’m on the tenor video right now, doing it for a friend lol

      @societalvengeance5984 3 года назад +17

      Same. We need more musicians like Jeff who have honed their craft and still remain passionate enough to educate others. It’s a beautiful thing to just learn more about something we love instead of being scared away from it like many of us were. My piano teacher used to smack my fingers with a ruler every mistake, I was fucking terrified of something I loved. Still at 40 years old, every time I open a piano i’m reminded of Ms Beatrice & her bold choice to embrace chin hairs & smacking, over empathy & education. I’d love to know what her motivation was to teach kids because the woman loathed my knuckles and fingers ✌🏻rip babe
      I’m glad the world has more Jeff‘s now. Thanks Jeff!

      Thank you very much for your kind words! I made the channel in the hopes that folks would be able to use their voices a bit better and enjoy singing that much more for it! Glad to hear that the exercises are serving you in that capacity. Enjoy! Thank you for watching!

    Wonderful wonderful! Short and simple exercises and I can feel that my vocal chords have warmed up! I also like it how the exercises prep the vocal chords to go into the higher registers gradually. This creates less stress and keeps the throat lubricated as well. Love it!

    Such a soothing warm up, Jeff. I find many vocal eases to be acrobatic and I lose the ability to stay on my breath but this is one of my favorites and as long as I don't push it really works very well for me. Thanks

    • @SlayeCohen
      @SlayeCohen 7 лет назад +3

      Don't know for sure, i can sing things a countertenor does in full voice, usually i train myself with some women music, another male that could easily reach those notes when he was young is Andre Matos, from Angra, listen to Stand away, reaching horizons, Nothing to say and Carry on and you'll get it :).

      Same problem I have! Its nice to have this video that actually goes low enough for me! I sing in two different choirs and one I sing with the Tenors and the other I sing alto and soprano 2. So this is a nice comfortable range for me when its tenor night 😉

    Last March I was supposed to open as a lead in my high school production of footloose but then it got cancelled due to covid a week before opening night. My vocal instructor also left the state to go to grad school, so I felt kind of alone. I havent sung since then, but I’m trying to clean myself up as much as I can before i start applying for college auditions. I honestly don’t know where I’ll end up but I wanted to thank you ahead of time for at least giving me a fighting chance to get my act together

    • @hooflepoof1593
      @hooflepoof1593 6 лет назад

      Jill Johnson Mann it varies from person to person, mine is around E4-F#4. Yours may or may not be there. It’s where your voice starts to crack and such, and a good exercise that I do to help smooth it out is use “Gee” on on a 5 note major scale, starting at C3 and moving up by semitones. It takes a LONG time to work it, you have to do it very often. But you will get there. (PS I’m a tenor, if you’re a baritone start lower than a C3, bass starts even lower)

      Hey Jeff, do you have anything that has all the notes in the tenor range? Also something that spends prolonged time on the high/highest notes, as opposed to ascending to them and just coming down without staying. Not sure if I said this right, don't know any technical names. In a nutshell, if I want to a) practice all the notes and b) give the highest range in my voice a tight, tough work out what to do? Great channel, subbed and liked.
