I've done this challenge back in 2019 I think? It was a real fun one! I believe I played Hector mode because I wanted to be able to promote the inferior lords first, and Hector last as he'd be a good unit overall and would take a bit to become 'useless'. It wasn't that bad! Eliwood and Lyn were nice support units to Hector, and their evade carried them for the most part. Especially after promo. The hardest chapters were by far Cog of Destiny (no shit,) and the final chapter. Especially the final chapter as I wasn't allowed to use Athos, and Hector got str screwed post promo. It's a really fun one! As was FE8 Erika and Ephraim only, and FE6 Roy only (I'm running that one a second time currently. I finished my first run earlier this year.) Lords only is a fun challenge in Fire Emblem! I kind of want to do it in other games like Radiant Dawn and SOV. It's an easy gimmick to do in a challenge run! I enjoy it
Congrats for making it pass Cog of destiny because as soon as I saw him go Eliwood I was like, he knows he can't do it on HM Cog of destiny. That map is the death sentence for a solo run.

Now that you mention, it is understated in modern discourse how usable the main trio is. Of course, Eliwood is always grueling work, but Lyn is blasted fun.
Its also interesting how varied she can be like some runs she turns out amazing but other runs shes garbo. Its a real coin toss and I love it!
14 speed Hector at level 20 with no stat boosters is super blessed

If you were to do another FE 7 run I would to see one were you use Sain and Priscilla why 3 reasons:
1 there support dialogue is on eof the best in the game (and it gives double wind affinity meaning plus attack, acuracy, crit and dogde)
2. While in the early game sain would carry priscilla would do very well in mid to late game
3. Is one that no one has done

I got this one on time for once yay. I'm suspecting you chose Eliwood mode so you could promote Hector who is easily the best of the three lords early. Sorry Eliwood and Lyn, it's hard to compete with instant 1-2 range option and great bulk. And a curious run I have in mind is can you beat engage with artes only. Mainly because gauntlets used to be a arguably one of the best weapon types in three houses. But nobody has used artes in engage because of the damage formula it uses
Imo, once you get Eirika, Chloe can exploit artes.
Almost always a 4x attack that considers 20% of enemy defense as damage is a lot of damage.
@@Fedra3443 to provide a few counter points. 1. Chloe can’t even reclass until Brodia. 2. Not alot of characters can even class into a artes user until you get byleth or do dlc tiki with Framme, Jean, Pandreo, and maybe Alear if you can somehow get them to promotion. 3. Unless you really like grinding you’re using a lot of bond fragments and sp to get them into a artes class in the first place
@@axltheriolu8791 as you said, until you get Byleth, you can't reclass into an Artes class. It doesn't really goes against what I meant because of two reasons:
1. The Eirika build is not possible until you get Eirika. Later than both Brodia and Byleth.
2. I said that Chloe is a good Artes user, not that Artes are good. The Eirika+Martial Monk is useful in later stages of the game.
A good user for Artes would need to have a good Str, Magic and Speed. Chloe has all three of them. She is an exception to most of the cast.
To get into an Artes class, you do not need to grind at all.
Byleth inherits Artes at like level 6, iirc. It is quite cheap in terms of Bond Fragments, and they are not really scarse.
Best lord in the game for sure, but his promotion is terrible. They really couldn’t give him 6 move smh….
I don't see how this could be a fun challenge in any way unless you're overcome with boredom. One of my leading criticisms of FE7/The Blazing Blade, is that I thoroughly dislike all three of the lords - as both story-based and playable characters.
Even normally when you can deploy all three after promotion in a team on HHM starting in Sands of Time with around 4 chapters remaining total after that, there's no getting around the fact that they all kinda suck on chapter 31. Yeah, after plenty of time raising and being overly generous to them as strategy-based units. Denning has ~19 agility (which the parent company Nintendo insisting is speed) and it's more or less impossible to confront a majority of ch. 31 enemies without drawing him into combat. When he's pulled to you, it's only to discover none of the lords do well against a sniper boss......unless you overlevelled them somehow or got exceedingly lucky with their level-ups. Normally, and this is counting support bonuses, all 'Hector' has to show for his overdue late promotion is some physical durability against armor/wyvern types plus Wolf Beil by that time (Denning can still probably double and nearly kill him in one round), whereas 'Lyn' is still coming up short in both durability+offense and 'Eliwood' still lacks offense in spite of besting the other two in moving around maps.
Of course, if you limit deployment to those three lords all campaign, of course it's feasible to have them overpower their way through mook swarms eventually. But even ignoring something like turn count or rankings I can easily picture it being more of a slog than it's worth just to get them to that overpowered status. With the whole story mode then turning into a predictable, imbalanced affair of the earlygame chapters making the lategame ones look less than trivial in terms of difficulty as opposed to standard HHM.
