My advice to you is, take the gifted speed 6 to a mazda dealer ask them to check the ecu, pay the diagnoses fee of ~$100 make mazda print you a work order and boom proof your in the situation your in.
I've delt with this exactly, I had to prove that I bricked my ECU and had mazda fix it, and had to provide Cobb with the work order from my mazda dealer to prove I needed a new license for my AP
Damn man, that sucks. Hope someone at COBB gets back to you with positive news. :( ( I also have a AP, hope this isn't how they treat all their customers)
That is so sh*t what type of customer support is that? Idk about freektune, pd, etc but here in New Zealand, our main Mazdaspeed tuner can do tunes with an access port or just from a laptop? Maybe that could be something to look into for the short term?
@@skatelakai007 No, the tuner sends the tune to your laptop, and you upload the tune straight to your car with a tattrix cable, cobb isn't needed for anything
@@LifeOfTuners the individual tuners that use the AP to upload the tune, they themselves have the cobb tuning license is what I'm saying. Now they may or may not charge you a fee for using said license...
@@skatelakai007 yes I know that, but over here in New Zealand, Cybrog performance can do you a tune without the need of anything cobb, they don't use an AP to upload a tune. Infact they only got their cobb licence a few months back, before then they only uploaded tunes using laptops, that's how a lot of Evo guys do it too, there's no need for anything cobb or ap related
sorry to hear that your going through this but at about 2:30 you say that cobb relicensed you before on the same access port .. correct me if i'm wrong, but did they not give you a uninstall mazdakey file to use in your access port manager.. if so maybe you could try that same file and have it relicensed
Ooo does not sound fun. That's a really frustrating spot man. Worse case maybe you can buy used "unmarried cobb ap" I bought used one years ago never had any issues with it.
Definitely a series of unfortunate circumstances, but I can't say Cobb is at fault here. "A customer wants us to unmarry their Accessport again. He says his ECU has bricked in that car as well." The whole thing sounds shady to them and they already did it once. I can't blame them for wanting more proof. You mention "be careful" in the title, which is a bit out there. If "be careful" means don't brick two ECUs for two cars by messing with the wiring and shorting them out, I think most people are safe. I'd do what the one person below mentioned and obtain that proof from the dealership. If you can get in writing that they diagnosed your ECU as bricked you have you evidence right there. All that aside, if you honestly can't afford the money for a new Accessport, let alone one for each car, I'm not sure two project cars is the best idea. That's just my opinion, though.
Hi buddy.the sad thing is cobb ask wayto much for the accesport.i know it can do alot.but realy they ask way too much for it.for that money.they cudv give the accesport more feutures.cant u ask justin at freaktune if he have alternative or contact at cobb
Ya I’ve contacted directly and they don’t seem to care. I haven’t been in contact with Justin so I don’t know what he can do but it’s just frustrating. Thanks for your help hopefully something good will happen

So you made lots of shitty decisions and broke shit on your own and are trying to use one Accessport on multiple cars because you bought a car that needs a tune without the ability to tune it...but COBBs the problem...cool story bro. You are the reason they have to be strict on this kind of stuff.
@@StevenDevey I certainly don't blame you for being frustrated in general but I do work in the tuning industry and COBB has some of the best service out there. And even though I don't think you planned to get in this situation, the simple matter of fact situation is that you have two cars that need to be tuned plus you are stuck in a bad spot because of your own mistakes....none of that is COBBs fault and at the end of the day, when you bought an Accessport and used it on your car...you got what you paid for and they don't owe you anything beyond that. If you get eggs at the store...then eat them or drop them on the ground and break them...they don't owe you more eggs cause you got hungry again. It’s tough for sure
Yeah that sucks man. I dropped Cobb about 4 years ago when they required classes to download tuner software. Now run Versatune.
Damn man, that sucks. Hope someone at COBB gets back to you with positive news. :( ( I also have a AP, hope this isn't how they treat all their customers)

This is very unfortunate, seems like their customer support just doesn't care about its users.
I hope they can help

You have to buy the licenses from Cobb still to be able to do that.

I’m pretty sure it only works once because I re-married the AP to a new car. But good thinking I’ll look into it
