    Thanks for posting! Excellent idea to use fluorescent line and UV light, makes it easy to see.

    i’ve been wanting to learn more knots just to have the skill but I am not convinced that one knot or another necessarily has an effect on how many fish I catch, as I have been straight uniknot my whole life and always caught fish when the bite was on, and there’s plenty of other more prescient factors for why fish do or do not bite. Lol, I am not saying it doesn’t, could just be an experience thing. Heck I didn’t even know there was like, an argument over loop vs uni until I restarted fishing last year and started watching a bunch of different videos. I will learn it nevertheless!

      Small things help in fishing. I'm not saying it's the be all end all, but with jigs, it doesn't keep it pinched in place, and offers more action. With cranks, top waters that don't have a split ring, or you decide to take off the split ring, because your top water is sinking, or your suspending bait, sinks when it's not supposed to, it allows for you lure to have the same action as if the lure still had a split ring. If you need a visual of what I mean, tie a lure with a loop and another with a Uni, or an improved clinch, and just bounce them around in the air. The loop will allow it to have that extra room for more action. Once you see that, think about using a float on a jig, and how much extra movement, just a little choppy water, will provide your jig. I hope that helps clear it up a little bit. It's not the be all end all, but if the fish are demanding that extra action, it can definitely help, and sometimes the little things can be huge.

      I'm a Uniknot guy myself - use it for almost everything.
      Knots have no influence on catching fish (unless you count the minnows that were hitting my double-uni this morning that joins my tippet to my leader LOL! ) they just hold everything together 😀
      The other two knots I use are the Perfection Knot for making loops on the ends of my leaders and spinner rigs and a Nonslip Loop Knot for streamers or balsa minnow baits (Rapalas) to give them more freedom to wiggle. For the panfish, bass, walleyes and pike that I fish for I don’t need super complicated knots KISS is better. I use light lines (4 to 8 pound test) so I check/retie my knots frequently, don’t want to be spending 5 minutes to tie a knot when a 30 second one does fine.
      Cheers and tight lines!

      @@hankvana2149 hey, sorry I just saw this comment, there are a lot of people that will argue with you about the loop knot giving the lures more action, and causing more reaction bites. Not me, I'm not going to argue with you, but I do agree with their arguments, and use the loop knot quite often, I can't say it works better, but maybe, I'll make a future video, and me and someone else will use a Uni, and a loop on a day when the bite isnt just on fire, maybe prove it out for you guys.

      @@BloodKnotAngling G'morning.
      Think that the knot to be used (tight vs loop) is determined by the fishing style and lure. Most lures have a strong built-in action and are designed to be (and usually are) retrieved at a steady speed be it slow or fast. These represent a (healthy) bait swimming or fleeing.
      Lures (like glide baits, twitch baits, jigs, poppers and streamer flies) that have little or no inherent action benefit from a loop knot because it gives more freedom to move (and appear to be alive but wounded ) on the twitch/pause retrieve.
      I fish (2 to 6 inch) streamers alot (using a strip/pause retrieve) and the flies definitely have more movement with a loop knot. On a long pause, the streamer (depending on the design and how it is tied) will suspend and turn broadside (90 ° to the cast) before darting away on the next strip as if it has just seen the predator and is trying to get away. Anything that eats minnows fall for this natural and life like method, it's not a "reaction bite" but it sure rings the supper bell!
      Anyway, this is just my take on things, your milage may vary 😀

    What is this knot good for

    • @BloodKnotAngling
      @BloodKnotAngling  2 года назад

      It's great for jigging, cranks, jerks, top waters, that don't have a split ring on them. It provides the action of a split ring, allows it to move side to side, without having the split ring. It gives your presentation a more erratic action, which a lot of times, causes more reaction strikes.

      @@justinbunch345 yea, so the thing about top waters is, they mostly have trebles, and there is no way to prevent that with those, but if you get weedless jigs, run a Texas rig. You'll be able to slow crawl your lures right over structure and not have to worry nearly as much as long as you go slow. Also, bumping up your line weight up could help too. If your fishing heavy structure you should probably be running a 15lb test. Just for the fact that it will be harder to break off your lure. Go with a weedless rig where it keeps your hook from being exposed will help a great bit.
