It was great to run back together bud 💪🏻, watching you for 2 weeks smashing the gym and putting the same effort as always tells a lot how serious you are!
Same here Ben. Got injured right before my first marathon. Which caused me to have to stop at 32km with a torn calf muscle. Today I ran the first time again after six weeks without running. I did 5*2’ Glad to see you are running again as well. 💪. Kush seems like an awesome friend btw!
I just started watching the channel and am transitioning from bodybuilder training to much more running / focusing more on health vs looks. Glad you are back Ben! Love the channel
Good luck. I was the same mate. Down so much weight and so much fitter. First starting I couldn't do a 5k without stopping 3/4 times, I also didn't have a clue about pacing so I'd go out all guns blazing.
Keep the positive attitiude Ben. As a fellow exercise addict I understand its a huge challenge to overcome obstacles like this, and for someone who has their identity firmly in the running scene i can imagine its even more of an issue. Stay strong, build safely and youll be stronger for it. Your journey is nothing but inspirational regardless, and showing this side is also really honest and a help for many who go through injuries. Keep smashing it, and know that youre still inspiring to run, even if you cant 👏
Good to see you back Ben! I think you are taking the right approach with the one mile walks in between. Better to be safe than sorry. Congrats and good luck! 💪🏿💪🏿
Man, you are just so inspiring even if your life is running, you manage with an injury to stay strong and keep the head up, which is really hard. I imagine it’s really complicated for you and I wish you all my luck for the future of you resting I hope that you’ll will recover quickly. It’s sure is that if you follow the guideline that is given to you it will be quick. Good luck for the future ;)
Happy to see you back, Ben! The walking between sets is very helpful. I am 3 weeks clear of a stress fracture and tendinitis injury that took 5 months to recover from that had a similar jog-walk plan to return to running.
Glad to see you back running, Ben! I totally get what you mean when you say "awareness" of the previously injured site, I had shin splints this year that took *months* to get over, and when I was getting back into it, I could definitely feel where it used to hurt, not really painful, but my body let me know about it. I'm fully recovered now and that does go away eventually, I'd say you're doing it right
@@BenIsRunning I would guess things are probably still tender, but if you're passing the Hop Test and you're not getting actual pain from running, it's just something that will eventually toughen up. Like I could feel my shin injuries for awhile afterwards, but no pain. It fades eventually :)
I am currently on a break as well lad. Looking forward to get moving again. Great job staying motivated and finally go and get some activity bud. Wishing you all the best moving forward!
Wishing you a speedy (but not too speedy!!) comeback sir! I am also coming back from a stress response, although mine is/was in my tibia, and I've also been doing 3mins running and 1min walking. Very interesting to be following along your comeback as I do the same, I can't wait to get back to doing continuous runs in the near future!
Thanks for this video. Been through a lot of injuries and illness over the past 6 months and hoping to get back on track just in time fitness wise to start serious training again in the new year 👍
Glad you're up and running again. I am currently dealing with the same injury. I had to opt out of NYC the week of the race because of it and was totally gutted. Looks like I have another 3 to 5 weeks before running again...I took it a bit father than you and ran on it for weeks trying not to miss the race! Enjoy Kenya and keep the amazing videos coming!
Way to get back slowly! I thought about my stress fracture everyday for 2month after jogging it. Soft surfaces really help too. Also another drill to add to get a sense of healing the SF is the grapevine exercise. If there is pain back off training.
Nice to see you back Ben. I can imagine how exciting it must be to hit the road again. 6 weeks into my peroneal tendinopathy now and I have no idea when and if I will ever be back into normal running and training. The approach of 3 mins and stop to check how you feel is brilliant I will try it myself coming week.
Based on my symptoms it’s highly likely it was a stress response rather than a fracture. Unfortunately the scan I had wasn’t clear on the severity but fortunately have been recovering faster than I initially expected. A response can take 6-10 weeks to fully recover so I’m aware I’m not out of the woods yet :)
Good that you're back. Have the Superblasts given you any knee pain before you broke them in? I'm getting some after my first runs with them. There's an article from DocotorsOfRunning about why this may occur with this shoe.
What is your main take away (lesson learned that is) from this injury? If u could go back in time, what would you have done differently? And will you change anything in your training in the future? Also curious about your time in Sweden since im born n raised n live here in Sweden. ❤ Get well n stay strong 🙏. Hakuna matata 😉✌️
Reduce the intensity of my training. I tried to rush fitness to prepare for a half marathon where in hindsight I was carless in my training and didn’t respect recovery
@@BenIsRunning sounds good. We all make mistakes. Greatness comes with learning from them. A legendary running coach (can not remember who) said that the greatest skill/talent in running is to be (or have) patience...
@@BenIsRunning cool! May i ask where in Sweden? And how did you like it? You are most welcome back anytime! Excluding harsh winter months (dec-march) i think Sweden has a pretty decent environment n climate for long distance running ❤️
The first run back should be 1min run 1min walk for like 10min total. And after 5-6wks totally off running. And you should be walk/running for at least 2 weeks. Not 2 runs like you said. Look how many weeks that Tom was walk/running. His first walk/run was like 100m run 100m walk. Will be interesting to see if you refracture the site.
Ben stop and listen to the advice offered. Yes you won’t receive many views during this period but you will have zero views if you can’t run full stop ! Sorry but there are hundreds of “ elite “ athlete channels- you are not elite but I enjoy your channel! I was a 30..20 10000m track and 30.10 road - my career was ended with a stress fracture !
Ben I lived the USA scholarship prog and have won county meds ……. But my biggest regret was not listening to all the advice offered !!! It’s a short life competing at a decent level, even shorter if you don’t follow your coaches advice. I wish you well
@GrahamLancaster-bj5sk that is really sad to hear your career ended with a stressie. Did it never heal?? I'm just interested because I'm having trouble with my hip after fracturing it and I am holding onto hope that it will continue to improve. Did yours never fully recover?

Yeah it’s strange, I’m not in any pain but in the back of my mind I’m constantly thinking off it. Maybe a physiological thing?

Fantastic news Ben .Looks like you have Lake district rain there too😅
Plot twist: Ben recorded this on day 1 and has been absolutely smashing it every day. Good to see you back running onwards and upwards 🏃♂️

Thank you. Yes I am, based on my symptoms I’ve been give the ok to return, all be it very slowly and with caution
I always face the traffic when I am on a road without a sidewalk as advised. It is a lot safer, but that doesn't seem to be the case there.
