    Lyrics: Sleepwalking Past Hope
I hid the keys to unlock love's heart
To hold you in my sweetest pain and suffering
Everything's unfair in our lust and war
    Redemption beyond right and wrong
In our hearts love keeps sweet-talking to despair
And goes on sleepwalking past hope
All is lost in this war
And all we can do is to wail and weep to the saddest song
    Sleepwalking past hope
I unlit the light to embrace the dark
To be near but not to turn into you my darling
Forever we're lost in our souls' storm
    Reflections of each other's faults
    I gave up long ago
    Painting love with crimson flow
Ran out of blood and hope
So I paint you no more
My hell begins from the 10th and descends to the circle
    Six hundred threescore and six
And from there I crawl beneath Lucifer's claws just for one last kiss

this is true, but venus doom (which this song is off for those that don't know) is the album where ville had the least control due to his health struggles at the time and I think you can tell. he's a self admitted control freak and the band have said it's the album where they got to musically stretch out the most. you can tell. it's their most metal album since GLS and it's still their most guitar heavy album. Ville is definitely the sole songwriter, but the band worked as a team, had their own ideas and complemented each other beautifully, especially on Venus Doom.

This song is my absolute favorite from HIM 🖤🔥 I always felt that HIM’s Venus Doom and [AMATORY]’s VII are two albums with something subtly similar, like two brothers born from different mothers in different countries, even though [AMATORY] were much more hardcore at the time. Both albums were released almost in the same time back in 2008, and i thought why they are so irrationally close to esch other st some very deep level. I guessed that may be [AMATORY]’s producer Tue Madsen was a fan of HIM and that’s why i hear some kind of influence but a few days ago i’ve found out that it was [AMATORY]’s guitarist, who was creating all the music at VII. Anyway Venus Doom and VII are two my favorite heavy albums released in 2008, they always come together in my music universe, two masterpieces.

Whenever I listen to this song (one of HIM's best, IMO), I am always fascinated by the backing piano melody, and it's funny you didn't mention that. As for the smoking, this concert was shot in the autumn of 2007, and Ville (the singer and mastermind behind everything HIM related, kinda like how T. Holopainen is for Nightwish) used to smoke a lot back then, he quit in the meantime. If you do more stuff from this gig (and you should, you'll find more cool stuff, like 'Soul on Fire' or 'It's all tears') you'll see him smoking some more. Anyways, great reaction to a great song.

  • @materidouska286
    @materidouska286 5 лет назад

Ville used to be an EXTREMELY heavy smoker in the past, also heavy drinker. He always used to both smoke and drink on stage.
This concert was done quite soon after he got out of rehab in 2007 and since he is stage shy ( you would´t guess right) he was using his cigarettes as crotches to help him get through it. You can notice he is not even smoking them so much most of the time, just holding them.
Then he quit smoking and cigarettes disappeared but he replaced them with drinking tons of bottles of Vitamin water.
He got back to smoking since then, alcohol we don´t speak about :-)
Please check their Overdrive live performance from Germany, it´s an absolute gem.

Ok, I see you reacted to "It's all Tears" so try reacting to HIM's cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" live at Provinssirock 1999 🙌👏

Valo (singer) for the band wrote and compose almost every HIM song. You should check their debut album, Venus Doom, Love Metal and the EP if you want to hear some of the bands heavy and dark songs by them.

Before Ville went to rehab it was common every show for him to have alcohol and smoke on stage, and he smoked like a chimney lol. I was always amazed how he could smoke so much and NOT fuck up his voice! That was what has always blown my mind.

Get the album Venus Doom (that's where this song is from) it's just great, you won't regret it, every song is amazing🌟. My favorites are bleed well , cyanid sun , love in cold blood and of course sleepwalking 💟 the whole thing is fantastically wonderful👍🏻

15:23 Lana Del Rey used to smoke sometimes at her live performances, but not as much as Ville Valo, for example during her song Young And Beautiful (Istanbul 2013) or Gods And Monsters Live (Vida Festival).
