Despite being known for their "turning left", Nascar as a race is more complicated than that because there is drafting and all kind of ways the driver need to position their car to gain more speed to be faster than their rivals who are usually almost equal in terms of their speed. I never grown up watching Nascar since i'm not from the U.S but when i was a kid, Nascar racing is pretty much my first racing game along with WRC. I used to play it on PS1 but didnt know how complicated a single race can be until years later when i got my PS2. In PS2 the new Nascar games are more detailed on their gameplay mechanics, thats how i learned drafting (slipstream) was a thing.
That is correct, cause the following year, JGR switched back to Chevy cause when they started in 1992, they were associated with Hendrick and ran Chevys. JGR didn't switch to Toyota until the late 2000's
For 1971, NASCAR required manufacturers to build one car for every two dealerships under its brand. Unfortunately, the Plymouth Superbird was not very well received in the market (another reason the brand was reluctant to carry on with the Superbird beyond its first year). Real talk
Big E drove a Pontiac Grand Prix, an Oldsmobile Cutlass, a Buick Regal, a Ford Thunderbird, a Chevy Lumina and a Chevy Monte Carlo. In Grand National he drove a Chevrolet Nova, a Chevrolet Lumina and a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Dodge was in the sport for almost 40 years before Toyota. Some if the best drivers in NASCAR history got a large majority of their win with Dodge. Richard Petty, Bobby Isaac, Rusty Wallace, Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, and Kasey Kahne are just a few
Thought most of the time Dodge participated in in Nascar you could actually order the same engine in your car at the dealership that was in the race car. Long live the 426 Hemi.

They got road races as well 7
Last Pontiac to win a title was Tony Stewart in 2002.
Ricky Craven was the last driver to win in a Pontiac in the Darlington spring race in 2003
2003 darlington ricky craven tide pontiac was the last win for pontiac itself before it dissolved completely from nascar after 2003 season
@@Cameron--zs3lb2003 championship was won by Matt K in the 17 ford roush

The Buick Regal NASCAR model is sick
Lol AMC logo is for the movie channel, not American Motors
Pos cars anyway
American Motors Corporation....AMC
Tony Stewart was the last Pontiac Campion
Drafting is A MAJOR reason some cars like Oldsmobile was ran out of business
I love how the super bird was so fast they took it out of nascar
Skill Issue 😂

In 71 Nascar restricted teams using the Daytona/Superbird to a 305 ci engine.

I think you got the wrong logo for AMC. The one used in the video is the logo from the TV network.
If someone ask me, what is the first race car that comes in my mind, i would say Chevy Monte Carlo.
The Monte Carlo is too iconic 💛
I feel so old reading these comments...
at 69 yrs old, I watched Lorenzen, Turner et al on Wide World of Sports in the early '60s!!
Um, weren't the gen 6 cars capable of exceeding 210 in places like Michigan?
I think in 2017-18 as well as 13-14 they could reach almost 220 in qualifying.
Yeah, 210-220 trap speeds
Yes. Not average total lap speeds.
Fun Fact: In 2003, all NASCAR templates are from the Ford Taurus.
For some reason, i love the Monte Carlo. It's a a beauty car. A real king of on era.
Richard Petty won 28 races in his 67 GTX.
27, and 10 races in a row.
RIP
THE INTIMIDATOR A true legend of the number 3
The Regal is what comes to mind when I think of Nascar! ❤❤
Good effort, Mech Illustrated, but a little light in the accuracy dept!
Reminder that the 2022-2023 body style Mustang has a 100% championship win rate
Those Monte Carlo stats are insane!
great video 👍🏻
From the grander days to generation 8 celebrating 75 years
This is awesome! I’m a car geek so this is really interesting
Curious pronunciations...
was this A Eye (sic) ?
Neat visualization!
HORNET 1951
Aw yes back when nascar cup cars actually looked like the dealership model. Nowadays they all look the same on the track
When the engine was stock.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar stock??? I think not!
That’s cool to know
I miss Pontiac
The Galaxy never ran the 427 "cammer" in Nascar. Those were 427 FE Tunnel Ports that took all those wins.
Correct! You win a keeper doll!!
Excelente espero uno sobre el canal pero en español.😊😊
6:27 I'm sure 1992 also has the model, except the front bumper is more dent. 1990 and 91 Lumina's look less aerodynamic than 1992-94
Fun fact: Tim Flock is represented in the movie Cars 3 (when he is racing against Doc)
Dale Earnhardt most definitely did not race the Impala SS
Jr did
Sr did early in his career with the Wrangler paint scheme
8:44 they show an Impala all right.. a drag race car!!
Sr never drove a Impala. Lumina monte carlo

Toyota will beat that number soon enough!
