Despite being known for their "turning left", Nascar as a race is more complicated than that because there is drafting and all kind of ways the driver need to position their car to gain more speed to be faster than their rivals who are usually almost equal in terms of their speed.
I never grown up watching Nascar since i'm not from the U.S but when i was a kid, Nascar racing is pretty much my first racing game along with WRC. I used to play it on PS1 but didnt know how complicated a single race can be until years later when i got my PS2. In PS2 the new Nascar games are more detailed on their gameplay mechanics, thats how i learned drafting (slipstream) was a thing.

That is correct, cause the following year, JGR switched back to Chevy cause when they started in 1992, they were associated with Hendrick and ran Chevys. JGR didn't switch to Toyota until the late 2000's

For 1971, NASCAR required manufacturers to build one car for every two dealerships under its brand. Unfortunately, the Plymouth Superbird was not very well received in the market (another reason the brand was reluctant to carry on with the Superbird beyond its first year).

Thought most of the time Dodge participated in in Nascar you could actually order the same engine in your car at the dealership that was in the race car. Long live the 426 Hemi.
