WOW, I never seen a quality live recording of these guys like this, love Jake E Lee, different guitar sound for sure, and the rest of the band, Ray Luzier in particular, are just monsters.

I saw them on this tour when they rolled thru my town and played at the Cactus Club in San Jose CA. Similar close small setting as this place here. I was upfront on Jake's side of the stage in awe that I was that close and actually seeing my guitar idol play before my eyes after following his career very closely from Ozzy days then to Badlands. You better believe I brought my Badlands CD cover liner and had it in my jacket pocket for when the show ended and was gonna be the first to ask Jake for his autograph. Sure enough just as planned as soon as the last song was played and Jake was standing there looking into the crowd, I gave him a "what's up" gesture and pulled out my Badlands liner and had it folded and ready in the section where each band member was photographed separately and asked Jale if he could sign his name next to his photo and handed him a Sharpie. He wastes no time and took my pen and as he was about to sign his name next to his photo he briefly glanced over all the pictures and started shaking his head and I asked him "what?" and he pointed at Ray Gilligan's pic and said "what ashame" and I said "what do you mean?" and he said "that guy had a hellva voice" and I said "what happened to him?" and he said " you dont know? he died" and I was like holy shit man I didn't know. And he signed his autograph and handed me back the liner and I wished him well and carefully waited for the ink to dry and tripped out that I had a personal conversation with the Legend Jake E. Lee and felt bad that I didn't know that Ray had died and could tell Jake even at that point in his career still couldn't believe that such a waste of talent (Ray) was no longer with us anymore. R.I.P. Ray.

GREAT story man! Mine is seeing Badlands at a bar in San Antonio, called Sneakers. I got there early eneough to watch warmup..
Hung around after the show, never got to meet Jake; But talked ro Ray Gillen at the bar..so cool - he really seemed to appreciate my appreciation for his voice. And later talked to Greg Chaisson - another Very Cool conversation. I recall him telling me the story of his personally- made cowboy hat. Another great moment for me is meeting / talking with RJD after a show at that bar (Sneakers). Everything you hear about Ronnie James Dio, was true. He was so gracious with me, a fan. Talked for a good 10 minutes... and he was such a small, little guy.. but again, he was so gracious. Great memories.

Right on what a great story. In your defense, pre widespread internet info availability, Ray had just died in December 1993

hey Chris, i was there, i am a personal friend of Mandy, i had only just met Jake at the coffee shop a few doors down, after sound check, i surprised the shit out of Mandy, we had been friends in LA, i was his lighting guy in 1990-91, i was asked, by them, if i knew where a good leather shop was, Jake wanted some new boot straps, i took him to Just Leather, on San Carlos, we became instant friends to this day... At 5:19 that's the riffs/progressions for "Walking Attitude," from the unfinished DUSK demos! (Badlands). and at 13:18 that's some of the riffs/progressions reworked that were originally "Sun Red Sun."

    Great Upload...
Has anyone else noticed that a lot of the songs are based off songs on the Badlands DUSK album? like "Blood Provider" is "Sun Red Sun" off Dusk... right down to the solo

Dusk wasn't released at this point, Dusk wasn;t released until 1998, but yeah, Jake probably wanted to play some of that out live being he was giving it a last go at it touring before he stopped touring. That 2nd tune The Key was based off 3 day funk from Voodoo Highway. Poor Jake had a bad go of it with Voodoo Highway as everything went south in a terrible fashion after that record was released

Dusk wasn't publicly released until 1998, Jake probably wanted to play that music he worked so hard on that was at that time owned by another entity, record company (Dusk was demos done for Sony, who passed on it for reasons not publicly known). It wasn't until 1998 until Greg and Jake got together and bought Dusk back to sell it to Pony Canyon for release to the public

I remember seeing this tour stop by the Boardwalk in Orangevale, CA. I did not like singer at all!!! Huge disappointment going from Ray Gillen to this singer. I realize this was a new project with a different vibe but I could not get over the singer.

More of a "thrashy" sound. I love it, but I completely get that he has a lot less universal appeal than Ray. I mean, who DOES? He was one of a kind.
