This challenge was done in a rush and it was also an experimental run.
You could probably notice the zoomed-in gameplay. This was done to see if the video quality can be improved (and it seems like it did).
Rushed or not, this challenge was really fun, as I limited myself to using some underrated weapons, having to use other strategies.
This can also be considered a sequel to my "Shotguns Only" challenge.
There will be a "Pistols Only" challenge but that's for another story that will not be told anytime soon.
The next video is probably going to be the final episode of my "Swords Only on Calamity Mod" challenge series (I don't know when that will happen).

This reminds me of the days where i used to craft every single type of armour cause i had no idea what I was doing and using bad weapons.
I combined the parts that gave more defense because I had no idea about the full set bonuses

During my ranger playthrough I discovered that the clockwork assault rifle with regular musket balls can stun lock pretty much any non-boss enemy

@@daiyousei.1586 I'm not suprised its it isn't, seriously this thing is can actually give you 1000 DPS on single targets with the right setup and it can be aquired so early, its only competitor is the Onyx Blaster and Deadelus Stormbow (And maybe the Uzi) which happens to be more famous due to their history of being overpowered, even despite their nerfs they still dominate the meta
@BuzdolabındaDonmuşHıyar I used crystal darts for Skeletron prime, all the arms were gone before I even noticed, because I was shooting the head.

cursed darts are better because you can literally just shoot up and circle around him

I usually get orichalcum armor for the destroyer, and frost armor for the other mech bosses.

Phantasm keeps absolutely destroying these bosses even with the restrictions put in place. I kinda want to seem him do a normal play through just to see how easy it would be for him.

Dude the way you calculate your ability to defeat the bosses is actually amazing, I dont even bother I just test it out right away against the bosses
Cute Fishron is by far the best mount in the game. It has carried me through every expert or master run after Fishron.

Imagine using any mount when you have Cute Fishron. When you touch a liquid, use it during rain, your hp is below half, or even being hit by a player's water gun, your speed is doubled, and damage is multiplied by 1.15. By far the best infinite flight mobility, suck it broom users. (You too, winged slime mount.)

The Black Spot was nerfed heavily, it's very slow, the best mount is the queen slime mount.

The mini shark and mega sharks are Machine guns and the Gatlingator is a Gattling gun so even if they didn’t make the game easy useing them would be against the challenge
I hate to make the comments 323 and not 321 but I have to say
I love the variety: a single shot decent weapon used to carry, a multishot weapon used to bridge the gap, a dart shooting weapon that relies on a somewhat unique combination of armor, and a sniper rifle.
Ah yes, ranger... the most balanced class in the game

You know ranger is a mostly broken op class when you have to limit yourself even further when picking rifles on a rifle only playthrough and didn't use crystal darts for the Dart Rifle.
The weapons that arguably aren't broken in the ranger class are the rocket launchers wich aren't normaly worth taking over the other ranger weapons.
Btw, are there chances to beat the game using only melee weapons? At least in non master non expert world, like, devs separated classes, giving them different accessories, buffing ranged attacks, magic and summoner shit, including melee, so that means they imply, you can play any class you want, even multi-class, and progress that way, but can you do that in reality? Feels like melee class is class for multiplayer only, class for tanking mb.
I'd still argue that Rocket Launchers are just as powerful as the other ranged options. The stock rocket launcher deletes any swarm of enemies no matter how far they are from the player while the Electrosphere Launcher can rack up a shitton of damage on large and tanky enemies and the Snowman Cannon takes care of the Solar Pillar quite easily.

This man not using the vortex beater for moon lord, while I over here have full solar flare armour, a dragon and both solar weapons but still struggle in normal
Sniper rifle is quite OP, with a ranger based setup it can deal like 500 damage, not to mention bullet type or buffs
Recommedation: "Can you finish terraria while using fishing loot only? ".

I agree with the assesment of disallowing the Minishark, but for a different reason than "it would make the game too easy". It's a fully automatic minigun, not a rifle.
Miniguns have rotating barrels (like Chain Gun or real life M61 Vulkan), Minishark and Megashark are just fully automatic rifles, like real life AK and AR.

I find the musket a underrated weapon it's actually pretty good 👍👌
For me, the Skeletron Prime fight during my ranged playthrough was the easiest because combining the clockwork assault rifle and using the target lock on 3ds was made it easy to just run along the arena platform and hold fire.

It's runs like these that make me realize I'm bad at Terraria, because I always find some way to cheese the hardmode bosses instead of getting the right weapons and armor.

Rifles seems like a loose term here, was almost a guns only playthrough, was not even expecting the minishark to be mentioned as that's not a rifle, was thinking it'd go Musket into Sniper Rifle, or something, and the Dart weapons are also not real rifles (and Beav already did a challenge using Dart guns to beat everything)

No armor, No accessories, no pets/summons/sentries, no life crystals and
no mounts.
potions are allowed duplication glitches are allowed
expert mode in hardcore, if you're feeling confident master mode hardcore.
while sticking to a true ranged class.

I jealous. I always wanted to beat the game with the sniper. Hey Phantasm. Have you ever considered doing a Skyblock challenge run? I think you'd like it. The good ones are: SkyTerra, Terra Caelum (not done), and my map "Brutal Skyblock" which I'm looking for someone to showcase for me. It's a unique challenge that requires a lot of game knowledge. I built 3 progression modes into the map itself. Downside is the slow grind of fishing, making dirt bombs, and growing gem trees for stone. Great for youtube views though. I tried to find a Discord you were in, but all I see is your user name. My map and SkyTerra are both on Curseforge (click "Files" at the top). Steam Workshop only has "Classic" difficulty.

solar is always the hardest out of 4 pillars, not just because all enemy there are ass to fight, most of them go through blocks, and especially the centipede that counter air and the ground is heavily infested with tanky and annoying enemies
Alternate: Real Life only weapons.

i'd say the hardest part is pre-Musket, then WoF. once you can farm the Dart Rifle you're set

Just a minor nitpick: The musket isn't technically a rifle, as it doesn't have rifling. A musket cannot be rifled as this would require decreasing the bore of the barrel to just below that of the bullet, making it impossible to muzzle-load. This was later solved by muzzle-loaders. However, as I suspect that making your first weapon post-WoF would make this run non-viable, I shall overlook this discrepancy.
How did you get the Mechanical fishing rod pre-hardmode or is it available in pre-hardmode?
