I'm gonna be honest here: as a child I genuinely loved opening up those catalogues and just using my fingers to feel the different textures
@@chadkase7580 ha!
@@mmmuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiirrrrr a lady with a serious truth of humor, oh you steal my ❤
one of my favorite places as a kid was in between rugs at carpet stores
@@quinnmarchese6313 same here! Run around in between and also the drapes!
the 70s and 80s was a fun era.😱👋🏼
I wish they had done a reversal. Kids completely enthralled with carpet sales and samples, with the poor pilot bombing hard :b
Smaakjeks K like your thinking
Actually I was expecting that to happen as a plot twist. Missed chance! :-D
I think there is a similar one where ther're obsessed with oil pipe something
@@jayedaaziz4457 yeah the 1 where the 2 sons are obsessed with their dads oil company
@@lukozadeue5 oh yeah! god. That was hilariously disturbing.
As a kid I would have been all over those carpet samples.
Lasse Huhtala SAME
@swampy Should've had samples that hold up best when dog takes a piss or cat vomits.
Sounds like some of us need to write Seth and have him do a comeback skit...with proper carpet salesman techniques aimed at kids. 😂
Same here. If he was my dad, my Barbie Dream House would have had wall to wall carpet.
When I was a kid, me and my friends used to go dumpster diving behind a carpet store. Those carpet sample books were totally rad and smell really good. Plus one time we found a whole bunch of porno mags. JACKPOT! 😃
You versus the guy she told you not to worry about
Funny cause the guy said he was in the Air Force but has marine corps patch
Yes! Yes! (should be read with the voice of the guy from Black Jeopardy when Tom Hanks got the answers right).
@@arturomillan and has a Navy Tomcat patch as well.
@@arturomillan Also, isn't the flag patch backwards, or on the wrong sleeve? The blue star field should always be facing forward.
Those children might think carpet is boring now, but when they’re married and buying their first house- oh that carpet guy will be their best friend.
Carpet is gross, tile or wood.
Hardwood floors, not carpet
Best friend? First of all, best use of wall to wall is commercial, either in apt. rental or office space. When trying to sell one's home it's best to pull up wall to wall if the floor below is in passable condition. And second, who trusts that any carpet guy is ever giving the best price?? Always get multiple estimates.
He’ll learn to value good produce, as well
i'm thinking about that right now
I felt really bad for Seth, especially when his own son said he was bored lol
After like 20 seconds
But still funny XD
Probably some of his best acting too.
Right? I'm unreasonably invested in this story. The dad is just trying his best, at least he shows up to things and tries to spent time with his son :(
Ditto.
Anybody notice he's in the Air Force, but wears a Marine Corps patch?
He was awarded the wrong patch
Yep it’s the first thing I saw
Must be in all 3 branches at once. Hahaha
Plus he has no rank
Yeah. As a former Marine myself I was a little annoyed at that.
I WANTED TO SEE THOSE CARPET SAMPLES!
As I kid I LOVED the carpet and wallpaper samples
I would have liked it if the pilot turned out to be tormented by a constant craving for approval and the carpet guy turned out to be a well rounded person who enjoys his life as it is.
Might require multiple scenes to achieve, a full length play.
"This is so boring"
"PJ, that is no way to talk to your father!"
😂
I love how bad I felt for the carpet guy. Too real.
It sucks that you're sometimes restricted to a few particular career choices and then when you realize you really want to do something else its a couple of years too late and your entire life you have to deal with consequences from a choice that you were brainwashed into making at 15
@@premeplug6550 I absolutely agree but I think it also sucks how people think less of you based on your job too. Even if carpet guy was totally happy with his job, pilot guy would still show him up because people think his job is 'better'.
Indon't know how unique I am in this, but I was incredibly sensitive as a child. I probably would have gone up to see the book of carpet samples just coz i felt bad for the guy. Of course, i'd regret it as soon as everyone else went to see the plane, but i'd stick with the carpet guy nonetheless
+Millie Me yeah right
I'd probably not understand shit about the planes and not care about the president, but I'd want to genuienly feel the carpet, because that's something I could relate to, because 2 of our bedrooms hád carpet.
And none of our bedrooms ór kitchens had a plane ór a president.
I can relate to that. I'd do the same
Millie Me I would've done the same. Even as a kid I rooted for the underdog
Me too I am only......... anyway I was very sensitive as well
Poor Seth, he's adorable !
Sad reality of life, beautifully portrayed.
I work at Home Depot, and even as a kid I had a thing for Home Improvement. I loved power tools and building things. I would have been very interested to talk to the carpet salesman and look at his carpet samples.
As an actor, Jeff Gordon sure is a good race car driver.
amy and seth are always great together, there's always a tension between them that's hilarious.
Yeah, I was hoping this had a Needlers aspect to it.
Cant believe this was 17 years ago already. Crazy to think that the kids in this skit are now probably close to the age Amy and Seth are here.
These kids are at most 8. 26 now. Still a few years to go
@@sammcfadden3961 “close to”
It aired October 2013. So the kids are teens now.
@@connieedwards4257 They give the air date in the description. It aired in Jan of 2003. The kids are 18 years older than they are in the video. They’re around 26-28, give or take.
For real tho.Thats Jeff Gordon. He drove in the same races with Earnhardt Sr.
Air force traitor! He is wearing the Marines patch XD
It sucks that you're sometimes restricted to a few particular career choices and then when you realize you really want to do something else its a couple of years too late and your entire life you have to deal with consequences from a choice that you were brainwashed into making at 15
you've just described George W. Bush's life story
Never too late dude, you could always make a career switch
Not as easy as you think, I switched career at 30 and it was tough. I don't regret it though, it was the right choice I wish I've made earlier. It was also extremely humbling, to learn from (and be berated by) colleagues far younger than you.
@@Alejandro388 Also, Rahul Gandhi's.
I literally switched careers at 37. It wasn't easy, but no regrets. I found different interests as i grew.
I am a Marine. Active from 2006-2011. Served in Afghanistan. Now I support my family as a production manager at a manufacturing facility. Both professions are needed. Both are honorable. Carpet man provides for his family, is there for them, shows up to his son's school. What a hero.
Will be praying for you my friend, so the Lord helps you heal all the spiritual wounds from the horrors of war.
Very true - a Dad supporting and showing up for his family is already great ❤️
great observation
Comedy is lost on you eh
you didnt realize this was a comedy skit?
Mr. Corbin is such a cool dad!
As an amateur joiner I'm more interested in the Carpet guy as well seeing as the guy actually helps in building a home while the plane helps blow homes up.
I'm not a pacifist or anything but as I'm constantly fascinated by furniture making, I'm sure I would be equally fascinated by the way carpet is made, sewn, installed and removed.
Skills like carpetting and joinery have so much history and speaks of thousands of years of innovation. And while I'm sure a pilots job is tough and grueling, but he's only noticed when flying the sky, while if you look closely, a carpet mans handiwork is noticeable in every room you enter.
This actually made me sad, hard working man providing for his family..that's super cool!!
Seth is so cute
This happened before with one of my friend's dad , super sad when all the kids were more interested in the other person's job and I remember him sitting alone at his stall.
this is sooooo painfull XD
All fathers are heroes
i felt bad for the carpet guy :(
Shut up Meg!
The first joke was the funniest when he was wearing a marine core patch and an Air Force badge lmao
Not funny.... Felt bad for the carpet guy....
It was funny, but yeah. I did feel bad for 'im
That carpet guy has a name!
@@hannibalburgers477 seth :(
That's because the carpet guy had charisma oozing out!
US Air Force? He's wearing a USMC patch on his flight suit.
Still a great skit! Cracks me up every time!
Maybe that’s his old profession
Good eye!
this is sad and all but why the hell is Seth so cute?????
Hes built by gay scientists!
Seth is ALWAYS a doll!!!
Scrolled a little further down to look for this comment
And this is why as a good teacher, you let the pilot come to school last.
Jeff Gordon, WOOOOW!
I'VE HAD THIS!
I did a career day (as a project manager for a software company) ... and the guy before me was a cop dog handler ... who brought his dog. He was IMPOSSIBLE to follow for so many reasons.
This is painfully hilarious
Poor carpet salesman :(
When the pilot said his call sign was “Cougar” I thought for sure that Amy would say that hers was the same.
Hit too close to home... I didn't want to sell carpets as a kid but sometimes things just happen...
眩暈夢
We all need good carpets and a knowledgeable, good carpet seller far more than a fighter pilot.
I started my flooring sales job at age 19. When I left at age 22 (last year) I was sales manager and the store manager. We also provided installation and I was doing my boss's jobs with handling the installation. I mean I was helping customers, doing house measurements, quoting and handling the final prices, contacting installers, setting up installation, paying the men after the job was done (forging the boss's signature), invoices and bank deposits, managing inventory and I had to keep every price, quote, customer, and sample in my head because my boss knew I was a hard worker and began taken more and more advantage of me. I wouldn't make money off a sale until the next pay period after an invoice was completely paid off so I busted ass to make sure the customers were as happy as possible to spread good word, and also to make sure the installers would come back for work. When the getting was good I would make damn good money for my age but my mental health deteriorated more and more each day with incompetent Co workers and a very lazy, dumbass boss. I had to quit because even though I would make salary on top of commission, the salary wasn't worth the stress I put up with every single day just to make sales and have installations completed. Most installers and customers would say that if it wasn't for me they wouldn't ever come back or even wanted installation in the first place. How that man has been in the business 20+ years is beyond me. He was good with numbers and confusing the customers into a purchase, which was a tactic I used at first but realized it always came back to bite you in the ass, even after you collected the money. I love sales, but the wrong sales job will ruin you.
I love these classic SNL skits 😄
My dad is a lt. col. Ret. AF fighter pilot in Vietnam, POW for 6 years there. He had to jump out of his jet and use his parachute as the engine failed. This is hilarious.
boy .I felt sorry for the salesman guy,
felt like myself when i had job interview.
i showed up on the interview day with a white blue eyed blond guy who attended Sussex university (one of top 10 university in uk) and worked for Virgin Airlines and Dnata. Whereas, I had just graduated from university which is not even ranked in the top 100 and only had work placement experience at Heathrow airport.
It’s amazing to think that the carpet guy’s gonna beat cancer, go back to the carpet store, and be killed by a carpet falling on him.
Geez, Rick and Morty much? 😒
I just can't believe he went back to the carpet store after beating cancer
USAF, nothing like a Tomcat pilot😂
That water resistant fiber joke had me rollin!
Why is the "fighter pilot" wearing a Marine Corp patch if he's supposed to be in the Air Force?
Seth is the cutest/hotest on SNL!
And Adam Sandberg too👌
@@robertasliutas2903 andy samberg or adam sandler?
Hard to pick between him, Dana Carvey, and Colin Jost
*I am living for the kids Reactions each time "Glen" has his Moments🤣😅😂
it was depressing and emotional.
I love those carpet samples books - the texture, that weird (but lovely) smell, the weight of all that carpet...
Not every skit has to be funny, this skit is so original yet real. It induces thinking about how cruel the reality is!
I love how we all collectively agree the carpet dude deserves love
Damn, the world can be so cruel sometimes.
I need those carpet sample!
Is this freakin’ Jeff Gordon?! He’s an unreasonably good actor
It is indeed Jeff G
Yes indeed
I watched NASCAR for years when he was racing. I never realized how handsome he is. And I actually pulled for him!
That was so sad :(
The fact that he says he's from Air Force and wears a Corps patch bothers me way more than it should
Same. When she introduced him as an "Air Force" pilot and I saw the patch on his flight suit, I almost put my fist through my monitor.
My dad worked in the textile industry and I loved seeing the samples, designs books he brought they also had pictures of the machines that made threads, printed clothes and on festivals he used to get highly expansive bed sheets and suits for free. Honestly I never thought it was boring😅
Pfft. Air Force wearing our EGA. Dude wishes! 🤣
That's a spot on Thomas middleditch impression
Fighter pilot in the Airforce, who is wearing a Marine Corps patch and an F-14 Tomcat Patch (Navy only airplane). Well done!
I noticed that immediately lmao.
Nerd
😅
He could have brought a flying carpet 🤣
Great idea!
Damn I thought they were a couple!
And work is work..everyone needs carpet 😫 lol
He has a Marine Corps patch, but he says he's in the Air Force, LOL.
I have a couple of cats who would love those carpet samples
Did he say Carpet Solutions I thought I was... in a nightmare LMAO
This is still my favourite SNL sketch
Best part is the cordless landline house phone he has clipped to his pants!
Seth is ADORABLE
I only got a half-hour for lunch!
Ouch, that hit too close to him.
I remember going to a carpet store with my parents when I was a kid. I thought all the rolls were cool and I remember jumping over them and hiding lol.....there was also that carpet store smell...lol
I guarantee this is how Jeff Gordon’s kids classmates feel at school lmfao.
Captain cougar ! ! ! LOL
I feel so sorry for Seth Meyers. This is almost as bad as that Bradley Cooper Sleeps With Everyone's Wives Sketch.
Call me cougar 🤣
im so sold! I want to be a carpe salesman when I grow up!!
Jeffy in a jumpsuit. Grrr, Captain Cougar!
This actually kind of happened to me at my
kids school. I am an earthquake engineer, so it’s somewhat mildly interesting to third graders how buildings and bridges are built to withstand earthquakes. But the other dad there with me sold and traded municipal bond derivatives.
Hey, municipal bonds pay for those bridges, lol.
The pilot kept raising his right hand... it annoys me for some reason. I feel really sorry for the carpet dude.
I'm in the United States Air force..... With a big ass USMC patch on my chest 🤣🤣
Seth is so cute...
Says he's in the Air Force. Wears a Marine Corps patch. Come on wardrobe!
And the Navy Tomcat patch.
This is so cooool
“A fighter pilot from the air force”. Lady, there’s an eagle globe and anchor symbol right there on his chess
What an excellent salesperson!
Captain Jack Kelly- Cougar 😄
My father has been in the flooring business all my life and this was hella funny🤣🤣
soooo sad feeling for carpet men
He said Air Force but is wearing a Marine Corps patch.
Jeff did a surprisingly good job
Jeff Gordon did great here
Cpt. : I'm a pilot in the US Air Force, greatest air force in the world!
Cpt. : *rocks Marine Corps Aviation patch*
Carpets is LOVE!
Ok but I do genuinely enjoy going to Lowes and feeling all the carpet samples
Marine Corps patch for an Air Force pilot lol
Awww Baby Seth ❤️❤️❤️
Makes me recall an assignment from my elementary teacher, what did you want to be when you grow up....many said rich person, movie star, secret agent, few said football player or some sports...I said I wanted to be a chemist in a lab that makes medicine for the ill...I was like the boring one in the class according to my classmates...the assignment paper was posted for display at Parents night, I was so ashamed that my report was boring, my parents got the most compliments from the other parents for a child choosing a wonderful career choice.
Air Force with a gigantic USMC patch on his chest 😂
