1:56:00 Had you chosen to tell Javik "That's Extreme" he would have dropped his best line in the game
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
Agreed! They should've kept that line no matter the choice! Too cool not to hear it hehe
Yeah can’t believe we didn’t hear that line! Even Javik called him out XD
What I love about Legendary Edition is that all DLCs are included. So, new players are really surprised of Javik being a real Prothean.
Well, ALMOST all the DLC. There was one where a hard drive failed and the source code was lost. But thats okay, since it was a multiplayer arena DLC.
At least an unaltered Prothean
ChrisTheNjord, amazing content keep up the good content
Thank you! :D
@@ChrisTheNjord You're newest member of the crew is One of a kind!
We're back!
I’m still in the intro of the video, but when you describe what’s going on with the summit and the factions as “it’s kinda a whole fuckin’ thing” I lost it because that could be the catch phrase for Shepard’s entire struggle in this game 😂
Welcome back, man! Enjoy playing more of the game!
Yes, you *absolutely* should talk to the crew after every mission that is not just N7. They comment on a lot of things.
ME3 options let you select squadmates helmets to be off all the time in and out of conversations, so it's not an issue when selecting appearance.
Dr. Bryson is a DLC and thematically it's really meant to go closer to the end of the game, though not directly tied to other events.
Mordin actually mentioned Cerberus personnel kitted out with cyanide capsules in molars and ocular flash-bangs back in ME2.
You saw Eden Prime in the Prothean records. the place where the contingency plan was put into effect, where Javik went into stasis, and where Cerberus dug him out.
Javik verifying wour words was a nice touch. You, a paragon character, used an extreme renegade line about achieving your goal at all costs and Javik called you on your bullshit.
The first beacon blew up because Shepard was wildly incompatible with it. After exposure to it and the Cypher, Shepard interacted with the next one without any problems.
Glad you're feeling better and so happy to have you back !
No, that wasn't Ilos. That was Eden Prime in the prothean era. (For some reason, a lot of players assume it's Ilos, I suppose because of the stasis pods. But those wouldn't have been unique to Ilos.)
He figured it out after. Luckily the chat with Javik on the ship mentions Ilos.
Javik is basically the Prothean version of Shepard if he lost everything in his fight against the Reapers.
Chris don't worry about the reapers when you're scanning in a system with planets. When the reapers appear u can leave the system and come back in a different direction from where you entered. Plus planet scanning gets you money and war assets so yeah it's important to do it.
1:56:37 He didn't believe you because you're mostly Paragon
Thanks, I always pick that option but I never get rejected like he did, now I know why
Same for me. This is the first time I heard that line. It was a pleasant surprise, that after all this time, I heard something new.
The secret Prothean facility that Javik was in was on Eden Prime. Reapers left it after they thought all of them had been buried and died out.
The fact that javik was a day1 paid DLC is insane
Whaaaat?? No shot 💀 why would they do that?! This feels like such a HUGE thing for the series and ME3 alone. So like, if you didn’t buy this, you just completely miss this whole character and lore and everything for no reason 😒
@@ChrisTheNjord Yeah man...This DLC was called "From Ashes" and it was around $10 at that time.
The memorial wall... all I'll say is there are EXACTLY enough spaces on that wall for the dead crew of the trilogy.
Javik knew about some beacons brodcasting a warning but not about the one we saw, well if the ME3 devs stay true to ME1 lore.
Remember that the Ilos protheans that were still alive at the end were waken up AFTER the reapers went back to dark space. That's when they worked on finishing the conduit, altering the message to the keepers and also sent the warning we saw to all remaining beacons that the reapers hadn't destroyed.
The beacons were a galaxy wide communication system so they sent the warning to the whole galaxy in hopes there were other survivors.
At that time Javik was in stasis so he couldn't know about the message we saw in the beacons but probably in his own time the beacons had been used to send messages and warnings too, and those are the beacons he's thinking about.
Only it was erased, probably by the reapers and/or their puppets when they removed all traces of themselves or the harvest or even if by any chance they hadn't (doubtful as the reapers are thorough) then the message from Ilos was written over what was before.
EDIT: The Beacon blew up but it wasn't it's purpose, might be because you couldn't read it properly or because it was very old or because Saren rigged it to explode after he got the information.
But as I said above the beacons were part of a galaxy wide communication system. Something like our quantum entaglement I would say.
1:33:04 "Sorry dude, shouldn't have ... existed" 🤣
Just a little heads up but some crew mates have more than one dialogue to say after every mission and sometimes their responses are a little delayed and people accidentally skip over them so be wary. Glad you’re feeling better though can’t wait for more episodes!
In case you didn't catch it at 41:30, Chris:
Back in Mass Effect 2, Mordin mentioned that an ocular flash-bang is more effective.
Then, in Mas Effect 3, the message you found in Liara's terminal says that the Cerberus operative died because of an ocular flash-bang.
Guess Mordin didn't find ALL the surveillance devices, did he? 🤣
So what you see on in the video obviously isn’t Ilos and it’s actually pretty easy to deduce. Ilos was never discovered by anyone prior to Saren, you wouldn’t see it being attacked by the Reapers or Collectors. What you see is literally the place where you stand, it’s Eden Prime.
Welcome back, Chris! You're looking good. So glad you're back to playing this game. I was looking forward to you meeting Javik. ME3 had some awesome moments in it. This is the first one of my top four.
You can safely visit Aria on the Citadel, but the additional Citadel entrance option upon docking is an entirely different quest. That one you may want to put off for a few more priority missions to level up a bit, since it's supposed to be a mid-game quest. Luckily it doesn't really provide any spoilers, so you can do it whenever you want.
(Also, my comments keep getting removed, not just on this channel, so I'm hoping you can still see them.)
Hey man, happy to have you back! Glad you are feeling better, and I'm stoked to see this play through continue. Always love hearing your thoughts.
Also, just reminder that while some of the missions are time sensitive (probably shouldn't leave a bunch of kids alone with a terrorist group), some are best done later (I'm sure a badass biotic asari queen can hold her own for a bit)
43:00 most of the names on that wall are the ones you fount at the Normandy crash site in ME2. The game accounts for you finding all or some of those tags.
You won't have enough credits to upgrade all weapons and mods in the first run. Test combinations of them in the gun range on the Citadel and focus on upgrading the ones you like. Also, I advise saving some money for some Spectre weapons and upgrading them.
Scanning is not that hard. If the reapers enter a system just exit it and immediately enter it again. Reapers will also enter it, but they are slow at first, and gradually speeding up. You'll have some time to scan leftover areas before they catch up with you. Just make sure to run for the edge, exit then enter again. Repeat this until you fully cover a system while they are on full alert.
Fuel is cheap, you don't need to worry about it. Besides, docking at the Citadel automatically refuels you for free.
Every squadmate is special in this game, but there's something about the oldtimers that makes them more special than the newcomers. Imagine taking Garrus and Liara to Sur'Kesh.
Turrets have a panel attached to their left. Shoot THAT ;)
1:56:35 Javik here has sensed that Shepard is lying. His previous decisions in the last 2 games were mostly Paragon not Regegade.
I have been waiting so long for this one. Javik is my favourite character. Glad you're back and well!
EDI's question about Morality and weather or not we would expect our crew to oppose our orders if it went against theirs reminds me of 2 things from ME2
I always had this headcannon that Tali and Garrus while supportive were still watchful when we came back from the dead and had any of them found out we were actually Cerberus agents or puppets they would have killed us themselves even if it hurt them.
None of them would have stood by and done nothing and I wouldn't have expected anything less from them.
Respecting my crew moral stances is also why I was never resentful to Kaiden/Ash or Liara for not joining us and in fact completely supported that choice. I always Understood they felt morally obliged not to each for their own reason.
I was very disappointed with Kaiden/Ash in Horizon but it was not because they wouldn't join a team working with Cerberus.
Aah, the infamous From Ashes expansion... One of the most interesting characters and backstories in the entire trilogy, originally sold to the players as Day 1 DLC (I don't remember if it was on the disc).
I'll check this out tomorrow, glad you are still playing this game.
Javik our favourite spicy aliem
About Aria's 2 messages.. one is for a part of the main game, while the other is for a DLC mission.
Your Sabotage ability can make the turrets attack Cerberus troops.
The weeks of waiting are over!
At the time the Protheans were studying us to decide if we were worth "cultivating" as Javik said we were in the caveman ages, Cro-Magnon I would say as it would have been more than 50000 years ago. And it fits with that vision we had in ME1 when we used the trinket the Asari consort gave us on a prothean artifact in one of the plantes we explored.
The vision of a caveman seeing a shiny giant birg come down from the sky, everything going black and waking up with his head hurting and the feeling someone else was watching through his eyes. Than some time after another huge bird coming back with a single red eye and then nothing.
As far as we an tell with what we know the first bird would have been a Prothean ship with scientist that implanted a chip in his brain and used it to observe then later on a reaper who killed the caveman.
As Javik he knows Asari, Turians Krogans and Salarians we can suppose that they were at least keeping tabs on them.
We also know for a fact they tinkered with the Hanar, they gave them speech for example and uplifted them in other ways too. The Hanar consider them gods and call them Enkindlers.
I think the Asari were thought to be the Valcire's or the Amazons!
Always glad to see you return! It's always good to take a break, wether you're sick or feeling pressured or whatever happens. Hope you feel better!
EDIT: You talk about how it's twisted that Reapers made collectors to fight the Protheans. And Husks, Marauders, Cannibals, are not twisted? XD They are humans, Turians, battarians.
40:42 huh, looks like TIM have actually listened to Mordin's recommendations in ME2 and swapped that WW2 cyanide tooth with modern tech
UPD. 2:04:47 Dune reference №4 in ME(ones that I detected myself for that matter)
Mordin mentioned these ocular flash-bangs along with the cyanide capsules back in ME2.
Welcome back, Chris! ✊🏼
Chris tactical cloak is a great defensive tool but also your best offensive power, multiple shots are nice and all but with the right rifle cloak and one shot are awesome.
Welcome back 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Well I wouldn't say the Protheans in the visions/videos are being attacked by the collectors. I would think those collector like things you saw were more like our human husks or the batarian cannibals and so on.
Probably making the collectors who are more advanced took some time.
Of course it's pure speculation but that's how I interpreted it when I first saw it.
I wish our Prothean expert could have been on the Collecter ship mission.
glad u're back... and we'll. if not mentioned already...there are lots of npc/random people(ongoing) conversations in ME3.Try to exceed them fully(leave and return) May give good lore etc...
Glad you're feeling better!
Heyy, thank you :D
There seem to be some weird microphone issue in this episode. Especially noticable around 26:00. My guess is it's picking up background noise? Not too distracting at the moment but it would be nice if you could check what's up with it. Edit: Everything's fine in the later 2/3 of the video.
he returns!
Good to have you back. This is why people who deny COVID exists make me mad. It’s also an insult to everyone that died of it like my cousin.
Also. If someone isn’t feeling well they should be wearing a mask in public even if it isn’t Covid. It’s common courtesy. People look at me strange when I wear one though :/
Comment within 46 seconds! I gotchu bro! :)
My man! :D
