@@lucyjrobyn I haven't watched much yet but I was shocked when you chose the ruthless backstory. Making the ruthless choices can be fun but I can't stomach being rude (or worse) to the beloved characters haha
@@lucyjrobyn It's not on the level of the trilogy but still a good game if you enjoy the mass effect universe and want more of it. Has some of the best companions and fun missions as well
@lucyjrobyn The Mass Effect trilogy was a huge hit largely due to the development of the Shepard character. Shepard was as beloved by fans as Geralt was in the Witcher series. Andromeda's lead characters couldn't fill those shoes (case in point, I can't even remember their name as I type this). Nonetheless it was still a very good game with well developed supporting characters who were interesting and engaging. The plot was nothing to write home about. Good vs Evil. Good wins, evil is vanquished. Then everyone heads down to the mess hall (pub) for a pint and some chips. Andromeda is very much worth playing despite the crowing of the naysayers.
@@lucyjrobyn sentinels and adepts have lift and push as abilities which are extremely powerful, especially lift...you can suspend mid air literally every enemy in the game, making them easy to kill
Very true. Ever since I played Mass Effect (around 10 years ago for the first time) this game never let me go again. It is part of me .. I love to think about the lore, the story and well, stuff I cannot mention yet because of spoilers.. But the whole world building of the mass effect universe is so wonderful. And the characters that you meet in all 3 games.. BioWare at its best. I am especially a fan of fem-shep. Just played bro-Shep once. Fem-Shep around 10 times.
Seems like a great playthrough is coming! I always appreciate people who pay attention to the lore and actually talk to the NPCs to learn about the world. The dialogue and relationships between characters are the best part of these games!
A few things: The dialogue options on the left are usually to learn more about a person, place, or situation. The ones on the right build up your "Paragon" and "Renegade" levels. You have to reach certain thresholds in them in order to get the best outcomes over the course of the trilogy (depending on the story path you choose). The top-right option is Paragon, the bottom-right is Renegade, and the middle-right is neutral. The neutral option gets you nothing. Every now and then, there's a response you can give on the left where the top-left will be more positive and the bottom-left will be more negative. You keep forgetting to level up your squad. Building up your "Charm" and "intimidate" skills will open up dialogue options that can help you later. In the options menu, you should change your teammates' ability usage from "Defensive" to "All". This will make them a lot more useful in combat whenever you forget to use your own abilities. A lot of NPCs say something different if you talk to them again after certain events. You don't have to do the main missions right away. Some side missions are time-sensitive, so it's usually best to complete them first (if you plan to do them at all). At the end of the day, these are just observations/recommendations. Play the game how YOU want to play it, and above all else, HAVE FUN! BTW, I love that your Shepherd isn't some saint, like 99% of other players I'm watching on RUclips. Your Shepherd is a breath of fresh air. ❤
I went through about 3 full playthroughs before I bothered to click on that option. That reminds me, there's also an option that automatically levels up your squad, while leaving Shephard on manual; most people don't realize that there is a third option.
Don't feel bad about missing that opening text, I've yet to see anyone finish it in time.. If you like lore, you're gonna love this series and you're gonna need a new pen when you see the primary codex ☺
@@lucyjrobyn To be fair, I do, but I'm a speed reader. I annoy the crap out of my wife because she'll be reading something when we're playing a game and I'll be standing there waiting for her to finish, lol. Also it's *hard* to read that out loud quickly.
@@Scorpious187 That's the main issue really, isn't it? Reading something for yourself that quickly is very manageable. Reading something _out loud_ that quickly is a very different matter.
So many people miss the moment at 42:08. You would of thought, being a remaster, Bioware would of fixed that so all players could experience that cool moment without (through no fault of their own) completely missing it. A prompt or fix the camera upwards perhaps but alas. Mass Effect is definitely going to be a wild ride first time. Enjoy.
The war hero background is my favorite to pair with a colonist because it's a full-circle story. Your family/home was destroyed by slavers, and you ended up saving a different colony from the same fate years later. It's a nice little narrative.
Always nervous starting a new game on the channel, but we've been loving this game so far over on Twitch so I really wanted to share here too! Be sure to leave a Like on the video if you enjoy, have a great evening!❤❤

Mass Effect 1-3 are my favorite Games of all times. I'm sure you will love it too. A little thing at the beginning. Think twice making desicions or treat people the wrong or right way. You might come across them in the next games again. And now.... have fun playing. Greetz from Switzerland😉
Hi Lucy 👋 I'm new here. I'm a big ME fan, been a part of the community since day 1 (ME 1 is almost 16 years old). Always ready for new eyes playing this masterpiece! Have fun 👊❤
Its always good to see new people getting into Mass Effect. Also, the game's Codex has narrations and information on aliens, ships, and other lore so dont worry about writing everything down unless it helps you. Hope you enjoy your playthrough, its an amazing story!
As a Mass Effect vet from it's original 2007 release, welcome to the Spectre Club!......You'll get that reference eventually! 😄 The LE version continues to be the best version of the trilogy for getting new players into the series. If I may, some tips that hopefully don't cross spoiler territory. 1) Some dialogue tips. You will want to pick if your character wants to go full Paragon (Good, diplomatic, charming etc) or Renegade (Ruthless, snarky, shoot first and let others deal with the consequences etc) in order to max out Charm (Paragon) or Intimidate (Renegade). You will get more Paragon points choosing top right option on the wheel and Renegade from bottom right. Middle Right acts as neutral response but therefore does not give point to either and left side can be seen as Investigate/Questioning side. Higher Paragon/Renegade unlocks higher level Charm/Intimidate to spend level up points in which unlocks ability to choose speech options highlighted Blue (Paragon) or Red (Renegade) that may appear on the wheel sometimes. Choosing these gives outcomes not possible with "normal" speech and give further points bonus to Paragon or Renegade depending on what was chosen (Normal Paragon/Renegade speech might give 2 to 4 points but using special speech moments/actions can give anywhere between 8 to 32 points). Not a great system for roleplay purposes but it is what it is. They did away with Charm/Intimidate in ME2 in place of flat Paragon/Renegade number to cover requirements but same issue persists with needing to stick to one or the other. Bioware finally came up with a method in ME3 to allow mixture of both sides without losing out on dialogue options but by then characters are already 2 games in with choices so it can suddenly feel "Out of Character" if you deviate. 2) Vanguard appears to be a very popular choice with new players coming in via LE being able to use this games version of "The Force" without missing out on weapons. It was originally an advanced class unlocked after first playthough of ME1 given that it's very much risk vs reward playstyle compared to Soldier/Adept/Engineer being pickup and play. That said it is one of the most fun classes in the game, more so when going into ME2 when Vanguards get their unique signature power and becoming absolute beasts in ME3! I would recommend getting used to sticking with Shotgun and Pistols however. While LE changed weapon handling in ME1 so you can actually use all four types in general, you'll get more out of Pistols and Shotguns given the class' speciality with them due to being able to spend points to further improve damage and accuracy as well as unlock powers linked to the weapons. It will also prepare you for ME2 which forces your hand with weapon selection depending on the class you play. ME3 is free for all however so you can go ham with what you want then! 3) Relevant for ME1 only. Check in with companions/crew on the ship after every main mission (Quests that appear in Missions tab as compared to Assignments tab which are side quests). That said, do not feel pressured to move onto main quests even if story is suggesting there is a time factor. You will have plenty of time and other players will encourage you to exhaust any side quest you can find before moving main quest along. Not just for XP and loot but because ME1 is the world (lore) building game and the side quests flesh out the game world more. ME2 and 3 companions can potentially have new conversations after any mission (Main or side), more so with ME3, everyone appears to have some comment to make after every previous mission completed in that game, not so much in ME2 but conversation paths can progress without needing to wait on "Main quests". Otherwise, hope you enjoy your time with Mass Effect. By the end of it I bet you'll be buying some N7 apparel of some description! So long as you don't get as bad as me who buys 10 of anything with an N7 logo on it! 😳.........😂
Thank you so much for the welcome and all the great advice! That's so awesome and kind of you to do. I can't wait to get to the excessive merch buying stage of my ME journey.

I love how you said you didn't want to shoot the little "Pokémon" and then proceeded to shoot all of them. Lol Jenkins even says they are completely harmless. I've played the entire trilogy dozens of times. I love it. My advice is to make your own choices and stick with them. The beauty of these games is that there are consequences that can reverberate throughout the entire trilogy. Have fun!
Gonna be watching this series for sure. Anytime someone goes in playing Mass Effect for the first time, there's one conversation veteran fans are waiting for you to see. The moment the new player realizes what this series is really about.

I recomend that you ask people to try and not spoil the game in a lil itro disclamer bit. Some things are not entierly clear or intuitive (it is an older game after all) so help is usefull. However theres a difference between spoilers and helpful tips. Here is my list of small but very impactfull tips: * Never use the neutral dialogue option ( middle right option). They do not give charisma bonuses, so only use them if the others suck. * Invest points in the charisma skills on your character sheet. Most ME fans would always recoment you max the charm and focus on Paragon(good) side. Unfortunatley the renagade options are alot of the time just being an A-hole. And you might do some really regrettable stuff in renegade. * explore all dialogue, sometimes a left side dialogue options unlocks more options. * Talk with your crew between missions. * Combat can be paused and directed in the power/weapon-wheel, so you can direct what weapons and abilities your squad use. * You can give your squad upgrades and mods, their lockers are in the bottom of the elavator (cargo hold) if you want to kit them out outside of missions. *Invest in the Electronics and Decryption skills, they will get you more loot. * In the character sheet you can put points in your abilities. Puting a point in the first square unlocks the ablility, putting a point in a square with a circle unlocks the below skill row and putting a point in a square with a triangle in gives the ability a new rank. * Do UNC missions first, they dont move the story forwards but big missions do, so you dont want to miss them. * After big missions go by the Citadel and explore around. * After Feros and Noveria new parts of the Milky Way unlock. * Its recomended to go check on the Prothean Scientist before Noveria and Feros. *** Virmire is a point of no return! Do Virmire only after you feel done with the galaxy map and have had a good chat with your crew! This might look like alot of stuff but this is really just some pointers. You dont have to follow this to a T but i hope it can be helpful for a first time player. Feel free to put questions or more tips below!
Thank you! I appreciate the time you took to write this out, I'm still getting used to the exploration and choosing which missions to do etc and I need to be a bit more decisive in dialogue options to avoid the middle one I think!
@@lucyjrobyn About romances, you may choose to romace someone in this game or not, there are more options in coming games to. In ME1 theres Kaidan, Ashley (for male Shep), Tali, and the last squadmate. The romance choise can be contiued through the games or broken off/changed. The reason the dialogue options for the Preaching Jelly where grayed out is due to the Paragon/renegade system. With enough points in charm or intimidate and a high enough honor you can choose them. This is why its recomended to invest in these skills fast as it is not always possible to come back and resolve the dialogue as you would like. (Generally the charisma check options give the most satisfying resolution to the situation),

Ah how naive I was!🤣 that’s so funny that you say that, especially in ME3 there have been several times where I’m like… “is this a full on horror game now?! BIOWARE!!”
Know I’m a couple of days late, but welcome to the ME universe! 😁 I think renegade-ish FemShep is great choice (love her voice) hope you lean into a little, bring mostly bad-ass to the bad guys but nice to the crew. If you like lore you’ve come to the right place, hope you’re enjoying the codex!

Spoiler-free fun fact: All characters have a chance to die in this trilogy. Even Shepard (if that happens, you won't be able to import saved game in the following Mass Effect)
Aww kind of sad that you rejected Conrad - he's got one of the funniest side plots in the entire trilogy, in my opinion. Still, it was also interesting to see how he acts when rejected because I've never seen that before haha
I’ve probably done 20 separate playthroughs since the 1st released years ago. I’ve watched numerous playthroughs online. Your’s has been my favorite. Your obvious love for Jenkins and me silently screaming “Nooooo, I’m sorry, I can’t warn you!” Thank you for sharing your first ever play experience with the ME trilogy.
Hey! Thank you for watching - this comment really made my day😊 I can’t wait to see what else the games have in store for me. Haha it must have been painful to watch!!
Fun thing about ME: when you carry over your save to the next game, you can roll a new class. The classes work way differently from game to game, so be sure to check the descriptions in each game. Soldier is my go-to for ME1, but infiltrator/engineer are my favorites in 2. 3 really heavily reworked abilities and cooldowns, making biotic classes really fun in that one. I really recommend experimenting with different class setups in each game to get a feel for which ones you like best in each.
I thought the same! Everyone else on RUclips always makes their Shepherd a girl scout, which gets boring I love that she's throwing in some Renegade responses every now and then, lol. ❤

I imagine this trilogy playthrough is finished by now, but hope to keep watching for as long as you keep up the fab energy!
Pack in for the long haul bois, we got content to watch for months.

You're in for a real treat including Andromeda
Ohh really? Lots of people have said not to bother with Andromeda?
01:01:55 I'm sure it will be very interesting

Jenkins is going to be my boyfriend 🫡 love seeing people begin their Mass Effect journey, great cut of the stream and it was very enjoyable to watch

honestly so tragic
These characters will stay with you forever. Also, do not forget to keep tissues nearby.
I’m not ready😭
Usually turn the camera's off before pulling out the tissues.
Seems like a great playthrough is coming! I always appreciate people who pay attention to the lore and actually talk to the NPCs to learn about the world. The dialogue and relationships between characters are the best part of these games!
I totally agree! Give me story and lore all day!
A few things:
The dialogue options on the left are usually to learn more about a person, place, or situation.
Thank you for the advice! I really need to remember to change that squad setting over, I am sick of Garrus dying on me🤣
I went through about 3 full playthroughs before I bothered to click on that option.
NO ONE reads that fast right?! 😂
Enjoy.

Such a great story!
It only gets better!
The war hero background is my favorite to pair with a colonist because it's a full-circle story. Your family/home was destroyed by slavers, and you ended up saving a different colony from the same fate years later. It's a nice little narrative.
Oh yeah that is cool!

Have fun 👊❤
Always happy seeing someone jump into Mass Effect for the first time! Each game in the trilogy just gets better and better.
Its always good to see new people getting into Mass Effect. Also, the game's Codex has narrations and information on aliens, ships, and other lore so dont worry about writing everything down unless it helps you. Hope you enjoy your playthrough, its an amazing story!
Oh I haven’t even looked at the codex properly yet! Thank you🙏🏼
As a Mass Effect vet from it's original 2007 release, welcome to the Spectre Club!......You'll get that reference eventually! 😄
The LE version continues to be the best version of the trilogy for getting new players into the series.

I recomend that you ask people to try and not spoil the game in a lil itro disclamer bit. Some things are not entierly clear or intuitive (it is an older game after all) so help is usefull. However theres a difference between spoilers and helpful tips.
Here is my list of small but very impactfull tips:
* Never use the neutral dialogue option ( middle right option).
(Generally the charisma check options give the most satisfying resolution to the situation),
I hope you'll enjoy the ride, love! I absolutely adored the games. ♥
