You need line of sight for a lot of the companion attack abilities. So it's not much use if the target is in cover behind a wall. You might be better off picking the option to let the companions use all their own abilities. When you start feeling they are not playing optimally, you can change the option so you're more in control.

@@eldeeable The game is very expansive so yeah certain dialog gives information that allows you to clue on what's happening in the game story wise or other, another thing is your choices carry through all three games if you use the same character. There's one more thing i'd love to tell you but it's so much better if you find out yourself! Happy to answer your questions
Blue/Red dialogue options are Paragon/Renegade answers, which can make situations easier and clear things up better than normal dialogue, or even prevent the worse from happening... As you upgrade your skills, keep a focus on Charm or Intimidate, as upgrading those are the only way to increase your Paragon or Renegade answers.
Like at 41:40. By not investigating, we missed a fun interaction with Manuel. Skipping dialog is ok, it won't affect the game, the left-side options just offer some more depth to the story and may open up new interactions. Usually, options on the left continue the conversation and options on the right close it off.
@@eldeeable Whether you would blast them or not was something I was waiting to see. Nearly every new player I've watched does it. Pretty sure I did it, too. 😂 The Eden Prime mission is as much prologue as it is tutorial so don't worry about it. If you accidentally fire on your squad mates in battle, they just complain, you won't actually hurt them.
I mean... Soldier is a badass class; I'd say "tricked into playing the default [female] character" is more appropriate; I think missing out on the psychological profile/background options is almost a bigger deal.
@ Another big issue with ME1 is the last sentence in the Sentinel description. It stats there not proficient with any weapon and this leads new players to think they can’t use one. For this reason it’s the least common played class for new players.

Ah, new meat for ME grinder 😂 Older Mass Effect fan here. Will watch closely, but wont spoil. BTW: as you took the pre-made charracter and class now is a soldier, I suggest that you start a new game to check the charracter creation and at least read the other classes what they are about (sentinel, vanguard, adept etc.). Takes few min, but worth for the lore/knowledge. =)
@@SinSorrowEU hahaha! Not the ME grinder 💀 Thank you so much for subbing, welcome in! 🫡🩷 Yes I didn’t realise there was other classes, I’m not actually sure what they mean, I’ll have to do some research into them!! 🫶🫶
@eldeeable Six different classes! Plus you could customize your Shepard's appearance, haha. Soldier class, IMHO, is an ok class - but definitely the most boring class available.
@@PreludeinG It's a good option for someone playing it for first time, IMO. The game has optional complexity that adds enjoyment to the game when you understand it. Learning it for the first time can get confusing. The soldier class simplifies that a bit.
@@victorwonder No doubt, it's the safe option (lol, I was a Soldier on my first playthrough as well). Just a shame she did not get to explore the other options. I noticed many a streamer went straight for the Default Shepard, and i think, missed out on being able to make Shepard their own.
@@eldeeable Well, the game has only 2 presets - John and Jane. The custom option lets you create a new Shepard, choose what they look like, pick their background and their class (like sniper, soldier, engineer, biotics, etc) which offer different skills and weapons specialisations. It's good for replays. The default Jane/Soldier is a fine choice and the consensus is that FemShep is the better voice actor in ME1 so you'll be good. I mostly play FemShep / Infiltrator for some sneaky sniper fun.
Mass Effect starts a bit slow on the first one, but its one of the most emotional games out there. People have attachments to it decades later watching streamers playing it for the first time.
Oh wow, already? I’ll be watching it now. Can’t wait to see your playthrough and your reaction to this rollercoaster of a trilogy. Your decisions are your own, Commander🫡 Hope you also play Halo 3, though I understand if you switched it up because of burnout.

I've been playing video games for over 40 years and mass effect is one of my all time favourite trilogies- I'm 100% here for this. Just Like Halo you didn't die during this gameplay- sweet! Slightly perturbed at the amount of dialogue you're skipping, but each to their own. David Attenborough: "Here we have the majestic gas bag, serenely floating through the environment, softly filtering the air currents for trace nutrients- you cannot find a gentler creature in the known galaxy, Completely harmless and.... Oh" Kara blows the smoke from the end of her gun... "What? They look like nose flood."
@@cerisambrook7692 oh wow! Of course zero deaths only in this channel 🫡 And omg 😅😭 the poor gas bags, they do look like the noses though 😂😂 Thank you for watching! 🫶
@@eldeeable Skipping dialogues can come back and bite an you in the read end in the Mass Effect trilogy. It's not about pew-pew and some of the decisions you make now will carry out as far as in the third game. These games are exploration and dialogue heavy, especially ME1. There's important missions that can only be unlocked through conversations, and speed running through the games is the best way to ruin your first playthrough. Intimidation/Charm are crucial skills one should invest in. I sincerely hope that you to keep it in mind. You also don't have to feel the need to comment every five seconds. It distracts you from the game, and important visual as well as written informations are going unnoticed. It's also tiresome for the viewer in the long run. Please don't take my comment as a way to put your video down, just a couple of advices.
You could have customize your character how to look and make your own background story to your liking if younwould have clicked the "Enter new id". But at least you didnt skip talking with Pressley and Dr. Chackwas and Jenkins like most newcomers do. 😅
@@Kendermagocska yes I’ve heard, I’m happy with my choice of Jane though for a first playthrough she’ll be great for me! I love Dr Chakwa’s voice that’s why hahaha 😂🥰🥰
43:44 i am amazed by this. So many streamers just..... don't ever see the GIANT ship in the background. the companions even tell you about it you even reacted to it. and still didn't look :D
I haven't played mass effect yet. Can't wait to see what happens! Wasn't expecting Keith David's voice in this, lol. He plays the arbiter in the Halo series. Idk why, but I love his voice
@@wittik-0 oh haven’t you!! That surprises me! You should! It’s really cheap on steam right now for the 3 games!! 🙌 And is it really who??? There’s someone else’s voice I recognised too, an older lady! I don’t know who it is though 😅
Another thing Mass Effect is famous for the romance paths. Some good, some dramatic, some mid, some bad, some toxic. With Mass Effect 1, either Shepard has two romance options. A later character, plus Ashley for Maleshep and Kaidan for Femshep. Problem is the human option makes it very easy to be roped into a romance just by talking to them even though you don't want to. So be careful of which dialogue responses you chose with Kaidan then. A certain character in the first game was such a standout, he became a romance option in the sequels, said character being the favorite for Femshep's voice actress, so keeping her single in the first game is also an option.
Always great to see new people experience Mass Effect. I do think you play to the camera a bit too much so far. Not a problem in general but it makes you miss some dialogue
@@eldeeable If you face a moral conundrum, I'd be happy to lend an opinion. In a game like MASS EFFECT, your decisions could decide the fates of others. I look forward to see your reaction when the story starts to get heavier.
Oh my! The doctor her voice! I recognized the voice immediately! I mostly know her as Queen Myrrah from Gears of War! 🎉 which just turned 18 the other day! And the second 16!!🎉
Yes I’ve seen a lot of comments saying many players do the same! I think for me it’s a mix of playing on camera nerves and just complete blindness, you’re right though it’s not clearly labelled, nor inviting to click. I’m still happy with Jane though, I really really like her!!
When they say don't worry about what you say in game, it's because the decisions should be influenced by you and only you. The morality can get blurry at times though.
That’s fair enough, I certainly will, I’m very in the moment when I play my games - I don’t play them live either so it’s just me and the walls I talk too 😂😂 That’s probably a bad thing when it comes to decision making tbh! 😅😅
Female renegade shepard is a hell of an experience. But i think youre too nice to go full renegade, even if you want to be "Mischievous" Paragon - positive/good choices Renegade - heartless/bad choices
Oh really! Yeah in the moment I probably will be too nice, always am 😂 I’ll try and be cheeky where I can! I have a lot of trust issues so that helps HAHAHA 😂😂
@eldeeable either way play it how you feel is appropriate. But renegade shepard is a savage 😂 You probably already know this, but incase you dont. You can "import" your character from previous games into the sequals as you progress, so all of your important decisions carry through to the next games
I will thank you, is she really 😂😅 hmm morals will be tested then, I’ve got a pretty strong moral compass so this will be tough. Yes I’ve seen something about that! That’s interesting, not sure how that works right now but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I play the game! Haven’t made any decisions I’d call big atm! 🫶
When playing renegade, I try to stay supportive to my team mates, but a bitch to everyone else. The game has some fun renegade moments. It's not evil but it is a hardass. But play it as you like - you're the hero of this story.
They are not "bad" choices. That is misleading. Kara, if you don't mind, renegade is just that, not by the book. Rogue. And sometimes that means getting your hands dirty vs the diplomatic approach that is paragon. Essentially, do you want this person to respect you (paragon)? Or do you want this person to fear you (renegade)? HOWEVER, this is STILL not true in its entirety as ME3 will throw you a curveball or two. But, I think it covers 99% of the situations.
Wow I wasn’t expecting you playing mass effect, the game where you choose to be paragon or renegade through the entire story, as for me though… Renegade for life! 🤣🤣
I haven’t got to a decision like this, I’m guessing this is a big one 😅😅 I think I want Jane to be a lil sass pot if I can, so if that’s what I can be, I’m being it.. that being said I have no idea what the story is yet so maybe I’ll take that back later 😅😅😂 I’m enjoying it so far!!
Pro tip: most dialogue options on the left side of the wheel are for more information and lore on events in the game. The top right is the good guy option (paragon) the bottom right is the ruthless tough guy option (renegade). Try to avoid the middle option on the right because it doesn't reward you points for paragon or renegade. Other then that enjoy the journey 😊
I am going to have to return to mass effect trilogy. This time i will start from scratch. For ME1 my suggestions when you get to that: you will have chance to save two npcs i suggest you save them both for reasons you'll learn in mass effect 2 and 3. As you go through trilogy pay attention to everything you do and choices you make in ME1 and ME2 will pay of one way or another in ME3. When you start playthorugh of ME2 you will have loyalty missions for squadmates so to avoid spilling too much word of advice is choose in which order you do loyalty missions carefully because it will have mojor impact on ending.
@eldeeable it's one of the great video game series. The writing is amazing, so feel free to dig into the dialog and lore. I envy you your first playthrough!
People complaining about the Shepard choice or class choice, lol. The trilogy is written with the Default in mind, Shepard responds to everything in cutscenes as a soldier class, and the Default Jane is iconic.
I always found the first hour or two a bit tedious due to all the exposition, running around and talking to people on the citadel after the first mission. Too bad they didn't break it up a bit more, but the game was made quite quickly. 43:30, BioWare messed up that scene. When Kaiden says, "What is that, off in the distance...", you are meant to look up and see the attacking spaceship taking off. More than half of the streamers miss it. 48:00 you can get that, but you need to run to the right of the stairs where you started to go but you didn't go far enough. Make sure to look around thoroughly as you can't go back to most locations.

You might be better off picking the option to let the companions use all their own abilities. When you start feeling they are not playing optimally, you can change the option so you're more in control.
@@donkeysunited also I forgot to say in my previous message in the options you can/should set the 'squad power usage' to all instead of defensive only @eldeeable
Thanks guys, I might do that for now! 🫡

Yaay!! So excited to get into to something new, it’s a bit overwhelming at the minute there’s a bit to learn but hopefully it won’t take me too long to pick bits up! 🫡 I’m Commander Noob 🤣
@@eldeeableyou will do well I guarantee you and if you struggle then ask your chat they should be someone out there that's completed the mass effect trilogy
A big part of what makes Mass Effect great is the characters, chat with the crew more cuz there's plenty of great content hidden in dialog!
Okay will do! I have a question about this too. If you chat to people does it give you more options in future conversations (like if you learn intel)
Thank you for watching! 🫶
@@eldeeable make sure you put points in Charm and/or Intimidate to get all the dialog options (and store bonus when buying selling as well)
Blue/Red dialogue options are Paragon/Renegade answers, which can make situations easier and clear things up better than normal dialogue, or even prevent the worse from happening...
As you upgrade your skills, keep a focus on Charm or Intimidate, as upgrading those are the only way to increase your Paragon or Renegade answers.
Thank you, all your comments got held for some reason sorry I’m only just replying!
Since this I have upgraded my renegade skills! 😬😬
The Legend begins...
Dun dun duuuun 👀
"Investigate" on the left of the dialog wheel allows to explore additional options, ask additional questions before moving on with a conversation.
Okay will do! 🙌
Like at 41:40. By not investigating, we missed a fun interaction with Manuel.
Skipping dialog is ok, it won't affect the game, the left-side options just offer some more depth to the story and may open up new interactions.
Usually, options on the left continue the conversation and options on the right close it off.

Yeah I heard! 😅 she’s good for a first playthrough though, I’m happy with my mate Jane 🥰 thank you for watching, I’m sure I will 🫶
I dunno what you mean, almost literally every playthrough is as a vanguard

This a real special series. A bummer you went straight to the default Jane Shepard and didn't take a look at the Custom ID options!
@@PreludeinG ahhh was there more presets?! Oh that is a shame! 🤦🏼♀️

Oh"
Kara blows the smoke from the end of her gun... "What? They look like nose flood."

J'adore cette licence

@@eldeeable I had no idea she was in Mass Effect I’ve never played the game but you definitely got me interested now so thank you!
They really should have forced the class selection into the intro. Too many players don't even know they exist.
Yes I’ve seen a lot of comments saying many players do the same! I think for me it’s a mix of playing on camera nerves and just complete blindness, you’re right though it’s not clearly labelled, nor inviting to click. I’m still happy with Jane though, I really really like her!!
I prefer Classic over Legendary because Classic has 60 levels while Legendary only has 30.
Fun Fact: Jane Shepard was the original design.
Oh wow that’s a lot more levels!! 👀 and was she really!! Well that makes me love her more hehe! 🩷🥹
When they say don't worry about what you say in game, it's because the decisions should be influenced by you and only you. The morality can get blurry at times though.
That’s fair enough, I certainly will, I’m very in the moment when I play my games - I don’t play them live either so it’s just me and the walls I talk too 😂😂
That’s probably a bad thing when it comes to decision making tbh! 😅😅
@@eldeeable No worries. If I'm being honest, I do the same thing. That and it allows you to edit things you don't want your audience to hear.
Female renegade shepard is a hell of an experience.
But i think youre too nice to go full renegade, even if you want to be "Mischievous"
Paragon - positive/good choices
Renegade - heartless/bad choices
Oh really! Yeah in the moment I probably will be too nice, always am 😂 I’ll try and be cheeky where I can! I have a lot of trust issues so that helps HAHAHA 😂😂
@eldeeable either way play it how you feel is appropriate.
But renegade shepard is a savage 😂
You probably already know this, but incase you dont.

I haven’t got to a decision like this, I’m guessing this is a big one 😅😅 I think I want Jane to be a lil sass pot if I can, so if that’s what I can be, I’m being it.. that being said I have no idea what the story is yet so maybe I’ll take that back later 😅😅😂
I’m enjoying it so far!!
@ well I hope you enjoy the game fully
It's great seeing someone go full Renegade (sassy) on their first playthrough - it's such a fun way to play this trilogy.
Thank you for the tip! I’m quite curious what I was choosing before, I wish they mixed it up each time because now I’ll be making a conscious choice!
@eldeeable im sure someone here already told you but when the glowing blue or red dialogue option shows up always go for those.
