    3:30:30 Tyranids collect ALL biomass. It's their only purpose. Each tyranid is tailored to a specific role. The ripper swarms are used in the latest stages. They scour across a planet like a carpet of teeth and eat all biomass. Humans, animals, plants, trees, everything. All mater is then broken down in digestion pools that is sucked up by tubes by the tyranid ships in orbit. Every tyranid also walks out into the pools and are digested themselves. So they don't really care about casualties since their biomass can be "recycled". Then when there's only a barren husk of the planet remaining they move on to the next.
    4:14:25 In the first game, Titus had strange reaction to Warp (Chaos) relics. Which is why he was accused of Heresy and ended up in the Deathwatch.
    4:18:00 When a marine retires from the death watch they are allowed to keep the silver left pauldron. Some keep using it with their chapter armour to indicate that they have served in the watch.
    4:22:00 The "Arch enemy" is the term often used for Chaos forces, since half of the marine legions joined with chaos 10,000 years earlier.
    4:24:40 "Chaos" is a bit difficult to explain in few words. Basically there is a parrallell dimension in the universe. Commonly refered to as the "Warp". It's the homeplace of the 4 chaos gods. Humanity uses it for harnessing psychic powers and to travel quickly across the galaxy. Every living thing has a soul that is mirrored in the warp. It's basically what it is made of. But because of all the suffering the galaxy has seen through time the warp has become a place of evil comprised of the 4 Chaos Gods (Khorne - The god of war, blood and strife. Nurgle - the god of sickness, decay and pestilence. Tzeentch - the god of change, trickery and sorcery and Slaanesh - the god of debauchery, perfection and hedonism). 10,000 years back in what is called the "Horus Heresy" half of all Space Marine legions fell to Chaos and initiated a civil war in the galaxy that basically made the galaxy what it is today. Chaos and the people loyal to it is mankinds greatest foe. The reason it's so dangerous is because anyone can basically fall to chaos if they listen to it's temptations and promise of power. It's an enemy that also festers within.
    The Thunderhawk that went down were scribbled with chaos markings on it's hull which is why they could identify the attackers.

    just so you know, Ultramarines are normal space marines, They are called Ultramarines because that is the name of their chapter legion, they come from a region of space in the imperium called Ultramar, hence the name ultramarines... But they are just like any other space marine chapter Like Blood angles, Dark angels, Salamanders, or Black Templars etc.
    What you were referring as normal marines, made up of regular people, they are not marines, they are the imperial guard, or the astra militarum, and likewise there is several regiments of it. What you saw so far was the cadian Imperial guard, they are quite though regiment of guardsmen.

    Deathwatch is the Chamber Millitant attached to a branch of the Imperial Inquisition dedicated to the research and destruction of aliens, called Ordo Xenos. Deathwatch Marines are recruited from various Space marine Chapters and is considered an honour. But occasionally when a marine has made a questionable decision on the battlefield or dubious action which have resulted in massive loss of life or risked the safeguard of one of the Emperor's worlds, can be ordered, by his Chapter Master to serve penance in the Deathwatch for a certain length of time, specified by the Chapter Master or by Ordo Xenos itself. Such a situation occurred at the end of the first game, where through Titus's actions almost delivered Forgeworld Graia, into the hands of Chaos. Even though he helped to stop the Chaos invasion, his actions and decisions were reported to the Inquisition by one of his command squad, Leandros. That is much as i can give you right now, as it would take too long to type ALL the lore behind the first game and the different factions in the Holy Orders of the Inquisition. 😅

      Ya the story will definitely be confusing if you haven't played the first game, as it is all tied together.

    You can remove your squads helmets in the menu if you want to see them when they talk to eachother
    Yes the "drop pods" are fleshy. EVERYTHING in a Tyranid fleet is alive, evolved and grown to a specific purpose. Even their space faring battleships and their ammunition.
    Bolter weapons fire "bolters". Basically self propelled miniature missiles that detonates within the target
    Mankind are very supersticious. And they don't know how machines work any longer. They basically built "copies" of existing hardware but with no real knowledge of why it works. So the Cult Mechanicus deducted that every piece of technology is inhabited by a spirit that makes it work. The machine spirit. This must be appeaced by rituals and prayers. From the biggest titan to a simple lasgun. It inhabits and control all machinery as an extention of the devine Machine God, or Omnisiah that holds the "motive force"
    StarCraft was supposed to be a 40k game, but the negotiations went south. So the humans look like marines, the protos(?) are eldar and the Zergs are the Tyranids
    57:40 Those are Servitors. Humans lobotomized and equipped with robotic appendages made to complete simple tasks. The guys in bright red cloaks with backpacks are priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus (the machine god)
    Tyranids are a Hive mind. A single consciousness that controls them all. They are absolutely intelligent. Every single tyranid is controlled by the will of the hive mind. Like limbs on your body. The bigger the Tyranid the greater their connection to the Hive Mind. So the bigger nids serve as conduits for the Hive Mind to the smaller creatures. That's why the small creatures around it die if you destroy a bigger bug. Their connection is severed. (There's actually an old rule in the game called "Shoot the big ones" where the destruction of a big bug would confuse the minor ones)
    Each Service stud represents 50 years of service. Marines can get a lot older than 200. No one knows exactly how old since none of them have ever died of old age but there are some famous ones that passed 1000 years of age.
    The Deathwatch is a special unit working under the Ordo Xeno of the Inquisition. It's made up of marines from different chapters and are deployed in small Kill Teams with special assignments. (In Titus team there was a Dark Angel, Blood Angel, Space Wolf and Black Templar). They always wear black except their silver left arm and their original chapter displayed on their right pauldron. After some time, the marines return to their chapter where their new expertice in Xeno's come in handy. It's considered an honor to be invited but not always. If a marines has commited any transgressions or loss of honor he may join as a "black shield" (as titus did). He cuts ties with his original chapter and dedicated himself to the Deathwatch as penance. At the end of first game titus was believed to be a heretic. He undertook 100 years of penance with the Deathwatch up until the game starts.
    Many humans consider Marines as the Emperor's Angels of Death. There's less than one marine for each planet in the Imperium. 99,99% of humanity will never even see a Marine. They are beings of legend
    1:54:00 That is a "Leman Russ Battletank". The main workhorse of the imperial guard. Can be equipped with multiple different weapon systems and deployed on basically any combat ground.
    1:54:40 A Zoanthrope tyranid is a psyker. 90% of it's body is a brain. The Tyranids evolved them after having consumed a lot of Eldar biomatter. It can attack with a multitude of psychic powers and enhance the other creatures near it.
    2:02:30 Depends on the chapter. Some chapters value human lives highly and will go out of the way to save a few guardsmen or civilians. Other chapters couldn't care less, and only keep their eye on the mission parameters.
    Hormogaunts are a type of Tyranids. More specific, it's the small critters you plow through with your sword constantly. The small ones shooting at you are called termagaunts. The bigger ones you execute are "Tyranid Warriors". All the different tyranids have a specific designation
    The different armors are depending on their battlefield role. (Tactical, Assault, Heavy, etc.)
    2:47:10 Not just a sword. Power weapons are extremely powerful and rare. They contain a power field generator, making them capable of disrupting the molecular bonds of matter when it strikes, and can basically chew through any kind of armour
    2:52:00 And that's as far as I have played at this point. Will return when I've caught up ;-)

      @@ChrisTheNjord always a good day when you post a video, dude. Also, I would enjoy watching you play through this game, it reminded me of the 360 era games and is so badass haha and I don't know how much you know about 40k but if you'd like more chill video I would gladly watch a reaction to some 40k lore, like Brickys videos. Whatever you decide is fine with me! The Emperor protects!

      @@ChrisTheNjord In my humble opinion, the best 40k-lore-youtubers are "baldermort" and "luetin09". The best from baldermort is the three-parter about Rogal Dorn, and from luetin09 the series about the emperor. And if you want to start at the beginning, "What is Warhammer 40000" from "bricky".

    space marines can get several hundred years old since theyre genetically modified. there are some that are nearly or over a thousand years old. if you got any questions, feel free to ask :3

    • @ChrisTheNjord
      @ChrisTheNjord  6 дней назад

      I have so many questions and I love all the information you and others are commenting out :D
      That's crazy, so ageing for them really isn't even an issue, it's more about survival rate. 1000 years is insanity lol to be in war for that long has to be so intense.
      How genetically modified do they get? Like, idk if they all are like Titus, but all the scarring around his neck and arms and legs and the nodes in his body, is that from the initial modification? They seem so physically larger than the normal human soldiers and such so are they given growth additives as well? Obviously saw they have super strength which is rad :D

    • @QuayNemSorr
      @QuayNemSorr 6 дней назад +1

      @@ChrisTheNjord No one really knows how old a marine can get, since none of them has died of old age yet. The oldest known marine is the chapter master of the Blood Angels, Dante, who has served as chapter master for 1100 years.
      They get extremely modified. That's why some chapters feel so far removed from humanity that they no longer really see themselves as part of it.
      They get almost 20 new or upgraded organs inserted along with a massive amount of super steroids and hyper indoctrination over a period of several years. Some begin to undergo the transformation as early as 10 years of age.

    • @Wolfhamm3r312
      @Wolfhamm3r312 5 дней назад +1

      @@ChrisTheNjord so I'm not the most knowledgeable but I'll answer to my ability xD they get several new organs like a second heart and more lungs. They get basically a total makeover. The nodes are to interface with the armor to be like a second skin. They get a crazy training to be better than any soldier. But there's videos that explain that a whole lot better ^^

      Before this game, the one I heard recommended a lot if the first Space Marine game and Dawn of War 1 RTS and the 2nd Dawn of War, but I guess it has a lot of DLC, and also Battlefleet Gothic Armada. Darktide is great if you like the more horde-mode first person action.
