Yeah, the Chief "giving the Covenant back their bomb" with The Last Spartan playing over the cutscene is easily one of the best cinematic moments of the entire franchise. Also maybe you missed it, but the Arbiter is voiced by Keith David, who voiced Anderson in Mass Effect. Also they got Ron Perlman to provide the voice of Admiral Hood.
A very important note about this game, you can swap weapons with the Marines. In later missions when I have low ammo on a power weapon like a rocket launcher or sniper rifle, I'll give it to them. As long as there is one shot left, they can use it and have infinite ammo. Just be careful, they're not as careful as you would be. And getting a marine with a rocket launcher in the passenger seat of a warthog is an OP move

I've replayed this so many times over the years! 😅 So awesome to see you enjoying it! 😃 (good thing you didn't go in on legendary, it's way too unfair, at least on normal you can enjoy the gameplay along with the awesome cutscenes! Like playing through a movie!) btw i loveee your accent! 🥰
3:05 The Remasters came-out 10 years after the Original Releases, for both Halo:CE and Halo2. H:CE Anniversary was for the XBox 360 console, and this was for the XBox One. Since Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo Reach were all for XBox 360 they did not get the same Remaster Treatment. The cutscenes for the OG version would not impress anyone today, but at the time they filled you with excitement for things to come.
The armor Master Chief used in Halo CE has an active service of one year before a new model came out, the CE armor was the Mark V and the Halo 2 armor is the Mark VI. Master Chief used the Mark V for a couple of months and never had a problem with it, then he was stranded in a Halo and then in outer space for a few days and practically destroyed the Mark V. And then, a couple days after he received the Mark VI he almost destroyed it in the events between Halo 2 and Halo 3.
I love watching people play HALO for the first time. I watched a lot, and always loved their reaction in 343 Guity Spark when they first encountered the Flood. Of course the same goes for you, I will support you all the way in this great journey. 💚💚💚💚 Through your first walkthrough of Halo 1, I think you will enjoy Covenant weapons more after reading this advice from me because I realize you use AR throughout the game, thing may get boring, this is something that will be throughout the Halo series and after playing Halo 1 I think you are ready: -Covenant weapons (or any plasma weapons) deal really good damage for Elite shield. (Because you play in new graphics, you may not realize Elite has energy shield like Master Chief in CE). So, Plasma for Shield, Human weapon for meat. -Weapons will be divided into mainly two types: normal and headshot, you will recognize and distinguish them throughout the game, a headshot can kill the enemy immediately. Even with Flood, as long as you find their headshot point. Hopefully with these two things, you will be able to take full advantage of the weapons in the series and find more fun while playing, use all the weapons of Covenant
the dual wield is such a good addition to this game "to give the covenant back their bomb" "what if we miss? - i won't" one of the most iconic, epic and coldest cutscene in videogame history
Ah yes Reach. The Covenant fleet that went there was in the hundreds. It seems odd to them that only 13 Covenant ships came to Earth. The Covenant accidentally stumbled into the largest human fleet they have ever seen that numbers in the hundreds. The Covenant is so outnumbered here. My head cannon is that the human fleet at Earth is over 800 ships. Would be cool if that is actually the number. Also those stations are named after the cities they are over. So the Athens is above Athens Greece, Malta is above Malta Island, and the Cairo is above Cairo Egypt. I think the book Halo First Strike explains the events between Halo CE and 2 it explains how everyone that survived got back to Earth.
Idk what you are talking about, the fleet at earth was neither the biggest the covenant has seen nor was it like 800 ships, there is literal count in the cutscene showing 8 heavy frigates and 67 light frigates. Also there is a terminal cutscene showing how the covenant found earth by accident.
Hehehe, "I need a weapon." Welcome to the fight! Oh yeah, spraying 'bullets'. I'm afraid from an orbital station, you'll be spraying something a might bigger
This is the game that dominated my highschool days. I played Halo 2 multiplayer for hours for years lol. I was such a nerd 😮💨. Btw, I admire how committed you are first to Kaiden, and now your battle rifle, but dont be afraid to let go and even double up with the dual wielding. Gun monogamy is a disadvantage, and 2 plasma rifles are better than 1. Have fun 😊
Awesome to see someone experiencing the best game series ever for the first time. In case you don't know: you can switch between old and new graphics within the cutscenes as well 👍
"I assume Halo 2 also got a remaster" Halo 2 got THE remaster haha Probably one of, if not the best remasters of any game ever. Also as for the names of the defense platforms. They're anchored in geosynchronous orbit over various cities and are named after them.
The cinematics are not rendered in-engine for the anniversary edition, so they could go all out on them. All the other Halo games, and the classic mode of 2, if you toggle to it, shows the game-engine rendered cinematics. Halo CE and 2 were Xbox original titles, so they obviously had the least to work with at that time.
The only thing i lked more in the original intro movie was that when the arbiter rejects the guards from beeing grabbed. The arbiter just gave them an aggressive pose that they better should not touch him.
It's a shame it's so easy to miss background details like the MAC gun firing and the Covenant cruiser blowing past the station in the background when you're busy fighting for your life. So much detail in Halo 2
The original game intended to have darker shadows, but the original dev team couldn't finalize the lighting system. They did for the remake, and some areas are really, REALLY dark. Consider swapping to the old graphics when you can't see in the shadows.
In the books it explains how by Johnson survived. Something to do with him using a crate of plasma grenades to hold off the covenant in one battle and has been exposed to a certain dose of radiation that made him immune to flood infection. In fact when Chief first sees Johnson alive, he suspects he’s been infected and proceeds to hold a gun against his head.
The music was sad near the start because you had just missed the Malta ship blowing up out that window before you threw a grenade at yourself. That's what led the UNSC to realise that a bomb was in play. The in-game dialogue is important for notifying you where to look...some of Halo's best moments happen outside of the cutscenes...especially in Halo 3 & Halo Reach....but if you miss them, they're gone!😉
The Halo 2 battle rifle is one of the best Halo guns. Try these advanced maneuvers. The BXR: With a full magazine, you melee then press X (reload) to cancel the animation, allowing you to shoot immediately. Since one melee drops shields in PvP and BR can get headshots, BXR was a near instakill in PvP (also largely player banned). You can also BXB, rapidly melee attacking until shield drops on elites and then finish them with a headshot. Another fun thing is the Hawk Swoop. due to the way the game is coded, so long as your reticule passes over a target's head at some point during the burst fire, it will register a head shot, allowing you to kill multiple enemies in one burst. Due to auto-aim/bullet magnetism, you don't even need to get your crosshairs directly on the head. You can also do this somewhat with the sniper rifle.
If youare interested you should be able to read the first three books in the Halo novels. The third one explains how Cheif and Johnson get back to Earth for Halo 2. ALso there is a comic that follows Johnson's escape from the flood.
They said they only had Chief say lines that they knew the player would be thinking already. I'd say they did a pretty good job at predicting our thoughts haha
Re: Firing weapons in space: Simple answer yes you can fire a gun in space, at least once. Gunpowder contains its own oxidizers, being in an atmosphere is not needed. Space is to cold for conventional lubricants > glue. The 'auto' feature works on springs and captured gasses... in a vacuum (Beyond my level of physics knowledge). The last problem is over heating, as there is no air to carry away heat a gun would just get hotter and hotter as it is fired. Despite all the flash freezing in Science Fiction/Hollywood - it would take a human body 12-26 hours to freeze solid - Now you know why there was no Commander Shepard ice confetti all over her 'landing site' at the beginning of ME2.) All that said, Master Chief is taking an already warmed up gun into space for just a brief time and is keeping it in use. And since they probably expect their marines and Spartans 'Master Chiefs' to fight in space from time to time, their guns are probably already hand waved... I mean manufactured to work in space. 😆

"I Need A Weapon" Master Chief
An icon
This is how the graphics looked to me when I was a kid.
I think in this one you can switch between old/new graphics during cutscenes as well. They really did a spectacular job remastering this one for sure!
Love seeing the growth every day, well deserved for such an amazing series
Through your first walkthrough of Halo 1, I think you will enjoy Covenant weapons more after reading this advice from me because I realize you use AR throughout the game, thing may get boring, this is something that will be throughout the Halo series and after playing Halo 1 I think you are ready:
-Covenant weapons (or any plasma weapons) deal really good damage for Elite shield.
Hopefully with these two things, you will be able to take full advantage of the weapons in the series and find more fun while playing, use all the weapons of Covenant
the dual wield is such a good addition to this game
"to give the covenant back their bomb" "what if we miss?
I’ve got that book lined up for a train journey in the next few days!
They did a really good job with the remaster for sure. The cinematics are incredible
Hehehe, "I need a weapon."
Welcome to the fight!
Oh yeah, spraying 'bullets'.
I'm afraid from an orbital station, you'll be spraying something a might bigger
Great to be here!
I can’t wait to experience young Reznov in Call of Duty: World at War, surrounded by all the epic soundtracks that amplify his badassery.
In case you don't know: you can switch between old and new graphics within the cutscenes as well 👍
"I assume Halo 2 also got a remaster"
Halo 2 got THE remaster haha
Probably one of, if not the best remasters of any game ever.
Also as for the names of the defense platforms. They're anchored in geosynchronous orbit over various cities and are named after them.
Master Chief learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.
Keith David voices that Elite btw, my favorite character in Halo 2 I hope you’ll enjoy him too ❤
They don't make em like this anymore. Peak single player experience. Great writing. TOP TIER voice acting!!!
I am so hyped to see this I love Halo 2!!
Same!
12:56 "Let's go girls" Now I'm imagining a Shania Twain/Halo crossover
the music gives me chills
Fun Fact! The Orbital Defense Platforms are named after places on earth because they sit directly above those places to protect them
5:58 the books go into more detail of how SGT Johnson survived the first Halo.
You helped me realize that through the closed caption that the Arbiter was called Arbiter before he was ACTUALLY the Arbiter.
The MAC cannon is my favorite thing to watch in classic graphics.
Overcharging the plasma pistol does almost zero body damage in this and future games. Its only used to emp shields and vehicles
The original game intended to have darker shadows, but the original dev team couldn't finalize the lighting system. They did for the remake, and some areas are really, REALLY dark. Consider swapping to the old graphics when you can't see in the shadows.
Noted, thanks!
But how did he survive the explosion?
The Arbiter is voiced by Keith David, he also voiced David Anderson in Mass Effect.
Correct!
i...don't think I've ever seen that scene where you help Miranda clear the path to board her ship. Huh...well done finding that one.
Hi Lucy just found your channel and what can i said love gaming and Gils that play Games so cool.... By the way u just got A new subscribe GG 🎉
When you dual wield, pump the triggers. You will be able to control the recoil better and can basically keep shooting on target constantly.
7:43 the gold elites are the rank of Zealot or shipmaster but Thel was a Supreme Commander one of the highest ranks in the covenant
They said they only had Chief say lines that they knew the player would be thinking already. I'd say they did a pretty good job at predicting our thoughts haha
Oh that’s cool! And yes I agree, feels like we are totally on the same wave length a lot of the time
johnson made it out alive after becoming friend with an elite ;)
The Battle Rifle ❤
Re: Firing weapons in space: Simple answer yes you can fire a gun in space, at least once. Gunpowder contains its own oxidizers, being in an atmosphere is not needed. Space is to cold for conventional lubricants > glue. The 'auto' feature works on springs and captured gasses... in a vacuum (Beyond my level of physics knowledge). The last problem is over heating, as there is no air to carry away heat a gun would just get hotter and hotter as it is fired. Despite all the flash freezing in Science Fiction/Hollywood - it would take a human body 12-26 hours to freeze solid - Now you know why there was no Commander Shepard ice confetti all over her 'landing site' at the beginning of ME2.)
All that said, Master Chief is taking an already warmed up gun into space for just a brief time and is keeping it in use. And since they probably expect their marines and Spartans 'Master Chiefs' to fight in space from time to time, their guns are probably already hand waved... I mean manufactured to work in space. 😆
