Did you know FlyLady was inspired by the Sidetracked Home Executives? Pam Young and Peggy Jones wrote the book you mentioned and the Sidetracked Sisters’ Happiness File. I still have my copy that I used in the 80’s. So I’m sure your plan will work…as long as you WORK the PLAN 😉

I think you are thinking of the sidetracked home executive book from the 80s that inspired Flylady who inspired you! I had better luck with a simplified version of Flylady from another RUclips creator than the app or emails. She described zone 3 as the main bath and one other room and then you just rotate that room every month. Can’t wait to follow along with your new system!

This sounds as though it will be an excellent system! Hope it works well for you. To be honest, I'm watching for motivation. We are starting my husband's cancer treatment next week. He's chosen a treatment center 11 hours away from us, so we'll be in a hotel for a week. In a few weeks after that, we'll be in an apartment for a month. It'll be comforting for me to see my favorite RUclips channels and retain some normalcy. Take care, Linda 🦋

The originators of the fly lady were 2 ladies that wrote 3 books, I think it was 3 books. Anyway the first one was called sidetracked home executives S.H.E. They established the original index card cleaning system. I still have mine. Theirs of course was different than yours. There were different colored cards. They were broken down by how many minute tasks took to do as well as daily tasks, weekly tasks, monthly tasks, seasonal tasks. You get the idea. I was totally fascinated because I am a homemaker wannabe. One of the lady's name was Marla (it just came to.me). The whole thing evolved into the Fly Lady system. I have their books somewhere in my cluttered house. I will be following your progress.

My mom used the index card system. We had to get home fast to pick 2 cards of chores we wanted to do vs what was left over. It's great for multiple older kids and grown ups to get it all done.

I am definitely going to consider maybe adding this card system. I have to say though, I am now doing more of Fly Lady and less of The Organised mum, and I love the app! You and the other Fly Ladies that I love, really have given meso many tips, it finally dawned on me how to break my different levels of non-daily cleaning down so that I'm not spending huge chunks of my day on any of the zones.
Here's how I break it down
    1. weekly Home Blessing:
    - Wand dust house
    -touch up windows, mirrors, etc
    -clean out washer filter
-go through sock bin (for socks missing mates)
    -mop bathroom floors
    - sofa dive
    -quick vacuum in main areas
    2. Zone1 is outside. I have a large outside area (porch, yard, etc), and no system seems to address the outside nearly enough). Right now it's still in Boot Camp, so that's what I work on during Zone 1 week. I made it zone 1 because it always seemed to get missed by the end of my zone rotation. As for Zones 2-4, I split up the rooms and areas, so that each zone includes a bathroom and at least 2 other rooms or areas, and the least-used areas are included in the zones.
    3. Some deep cleaning is weekly, some monthly, some seasonal and then others are yearly or when it's next on the list. Now THIS is where I always got stuck, no matter whose system I used or how I modified them. It always ended up that by the time I finished the rest of the weekly or monthly stuff in a zone, I would have used up my time and had nothing left for the other levels. Somehow, that was true, even with TOMM.
Well, it finally clicked about a week or so ago, that with Fly Lady, I could dedicate the 15-30 minutes each day working on a job for a different level, in whichever zone I'm in that week Duh! Lol. So, here's what that looks like:
day 1: Weekly Home Blessing (just a little over an hour
Day 2: 1 Seasonal or rotating job (15-45 minutes)
DAY 3: rag dust surfaces (including items on surfaces (15 min)
Day 4: Clean shower and mop all hard floors in that zone (@about 30 minutes)
Day 5 detail vacuum that zone. (15 minute)
    4. As for Zone 5, that's my flex zone. So on Flex zone week, I can list up to 4 cleaning tasks that I either want to catch up on or get ahead on in any of the other zones, OR I can pick up to 4 non-cleaning tasks or fun activities that I want to focus on during the times I would otherwise be zone cleaning.
It's that Flex zone that would likely allow you to hit areas that usually get missed.
Anyway, I'm so thankful that you kept going and never gave up. It's people like you who Gve me that inspiration to keep plugging along ❤😊

I completely agree that we have to find a method or routine that suits us individually. In my household I need to spend more than 15 mins per day and 3 months to cycle back to a room would be too long. For me I’ve adjusted organised mum to fit my large busy house and it’s going pretty well. I did try lists but for me they were overwhelming, I just put on a guided clean and 30 mins later I’m done. I’m learning to declutter at a slower pace, ie pick a corner or a cupboard. I do love your videos and will be looking forward to seeing you implement your new plan, as I said this is all very personal and what suits one won’t suit another. We can only do our best ❤ x

I am rewatching the video. What I have found that certain things in a bathroom needs to be cleaned more often then others. Maybe make a section of things you deep clean sometimes.
My stressful room is the attic. Never getting to it. And the car. Or cleaning the windows. So i have a 6 week program. With a fles week for the stressful rooms/things
Flylady says bedrooms. So if tou end up in your bedroom, next time that week comes up you do the next until the cleaning time is past. Once finished all the rooms in the zone you start over. Kind of what your doing in your 12 week shedule...
Love the list of the kitchen deep clean. Deep clean living room is wash curtains. Deep clean bedroom. We have a protection sheet on the matress and pillow.
Declutter clothes. I go through it every aince time so no big projects are coming in the future.
I have a what do i need to buy? (A lot...) with the room (or card number😅) and possible cost. When we have some extra money i go through the list...
    Loved the video!

Yes! I remember my Mom following The Sidetracked Home Executives note card plan back in the 80's. It was fun to kind of make a game of it. I am looking forward to seeing your system evolve! I hope you will keep Flylady's tip of shining the sink each evening. Tidying the kitchen before bed is such a game-changer. Thank you for a great video! Your enthusiasm to clean and declutter is infectious! :-)

Thank you so much for sharing your system! I think it is very easy to follow and will start implementing asap now I don’t know if I could wait a quarter to clean my bathrooms as it it was a struggle to have it on a monthly cycle even with the daily upkeep, so I might tweak it.

I'm so glad you commented!! Don't wait to clean those bathrooms!! My plan is a focused deep clean on these areas. I do a general home refresh weekly! That I includes toilets, sinks floors in my bathrooms! I'm so glad you commented! It tells me I need to make sure I share that too!!!!! Thank you! ❤️

Great Allie! I have fallen off FlyLady since the holidays (traveling). And I've been pretty lazy with a knee injury in January and didn't pick it back up again. 😒 One thing I'm religious about is shining the sink daily (which also means wiping counters stove and microwave) and the bathroom swish and swipe nightly. Everything else is just a mess...And I've got Mt. Washmore again. I'll try it with you! (Terri)

I remember when you lifted the mattress and vacuumed under. I think it was the same week I did mine and you were both blown away as I, by the amount of pet hair 😆
I don’t do my bedroom and master bath enough, even though I spend a good deal of time in there. Shower cleaning feels futile, lol. Maybe that’s my hard spot 🤔 or the crafts I don’t want to go through again 😩, still too much.
I don’t think you would be able to fit in little amounts of your garage in there, but I’m wondering if you could 🤔, you would probably have to substitute or decide if you even want to go there.
I’d hate to see you have to do it all in the good weather. Maybe prep in the winter, vs doing both prep and sale, but then again you have to park your car. Anyway, just brainstorming.
