- A road trip to Alaska has always been on our bucket list. And while we got to search for moose, ride to alpine lakes, and balance on sketchy ridgelines, the trip did not go to plan...

My weekend riding buddy, who often rides with me on our local trails, has passed a couple of years ago. My riding buddy also happens to be my wife. As such, watching you and Yuka somehow brings me to a smile whenever I watch your vids. I have always appreciated Yuka's tenacity and bravery, though at times carelessness does yield somewhat funny results. Really love your vids.
❤
If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason for your wife's passing?
Thanks for sharing J. Good reminder to give our riding buddies a big hug, if we still can.
Yuka’s determination to find a moose was the cutest thing! 😍 she knew what she wanted to see and she got it !
I spooked a sleeping moose in the Hilltop area in like 2016 I think. I was riding down the trail at like 11 PM (sometime around Summer Solstice so it was fully light out). All the sudden a moose just stood up out of a bush barely a meter from me. I almost hit a tree and sprinted the whole way back to my car. 😆
Really love this video series!
Did you get your bike back 😭
Your drone shots over the lost lake area show what a truly beautiful area that is. I have traversed that trail more then a dozen times over the years and I never tire of the views.
What a great day it is when Eric posts a new video🙂!
As a local in Alaska this was super cool to see, thanks for making this video. It's too bad I didn't get to see you guys in the slopes, epic video though.
Same, I’m from up here too. Wish I would’ve caught up with you guys and said hi
@@deakan_neely25 i was up in anchorage when they were up there but didn't go biking then
Our thoughts exactly!
i didnt even know alaska was warm enough to wear a tshirt Oo
@@kingprone7846 😂 it can get into the 70s during a good summer
Man this was a really great short film. Beyond the riding, just really great storytelling and cinematography. Awesome job!
I love watching these wild adventures! Not just the best parts of the trip but all the random things that occur along the way. What a great tour of Alaska!
As someone from Alaska, I'm always excited to see these trails showcased on RUclips. I am disappointed though that there isn't any footage here from the Hillside Trails (not hilltop)
jeffs woop woop
Eh-line, gower-power, dig deep, and Jeff’s whoop whoop (eh-line is the best)
@@SmartestBlackGuy eh-line is great but personally dig deep is my fav haha
Wow, an awesome ride. We enjoyed your ride and seeing the moose. Thank you so much for sharing with us. 👍💯
Yeahhhhhhhh I was waiting for a video from BCPOV 👏🏼👏🏼
As someone from Anchorage, I haven't been able to bike in 2 months because of weather. We have had about 3 days since mid July without rain. non. stop. rain.
Also I see moose in my backyard all the time, so it was pretty amusing watching you guys find them
“Spicy” I was like “go back!”. Sketchy!! Great video.
I live in the Interior of BC, and sometimes I see moose in the mountains by my house
Glad you guys got to enjoy the magic too! They really are wonderful to see.
The drone shots just keep getting better and better.
These videos always make me smile. Thank You!
Knee and Shin Pads.. Get some…Beautiful Shots!
Those drone shots were amazing!
Yuka's face when Eric said "I wonder what he'd taste like" xD In all fairness I've had Moose burgers and they were nothing special.
I'd have to disagree with your taste assessment. Moose is delicious.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The drone footage and music are extra special. What a wonderful adventure!
Filmed like a documentary. Absolutely love your style. Nicely done!
I live this kind of video. You have all the riding you could dream of in it, some beautiful landscapes and scenery and an amazing story that just gives me the itch to get too Alaska somehow. Those back country trails you ride are amazing too, picturesque 👌
Loving the diversity of your channel Eric. Had to laugh at the moose exchange commentary between you and Yuka over the 'moosely' body...lol. Alaska is definitely an experience, awesome that you got that checked off the list!
Love this video!!! Bucket list trip of a life time!!!!🚴♀️🤙🏼
Great video, you nailed the music choices too. Drum solo on the exposed cliffs was a nice touch 🤘
Loved the cinematography and soundtrack!!!!
Guys -BEAUTIFUL, entertaining and informative - superb video production - keep up the good work! I'm so envious of your adventures! Thank you.
Great video Eric. It's got to be (one of) your best. Camera work, narration, storytelling all on point.
You guys are just great - as a couple and as hosts.
You guys are hilarious! Awesome content and phenomenal editing, love it
I couldn't thank you more for this content, I am now saving up for my first MTB! :)
Lost Lake is one of the most picturesque rides I’ve ever done. Definitely a good one
The funny thing is that for large parts of May and June, it was much warmer and sunnier in Alaska than it was in Seattle and Vancouver.
I went to Alaska in my summer holidays too and loved it
Hey Eric, I watch a lot of youtube and wanted to let you know I immediately click on your videos because I know it will be interesting, well thought out and have amazing cinematography. Just like this one! Love watching you and Yuka, as a mountain biker and avid traveler it's super inspiring to see some of the spots you ride in the far reaches.
You guys should have brought a guide to Healy! There are some gnarly trails there, but yes, some of them are overgrown quite a bit in August. Also - I'm still waiting for the rain to end... Might just have to say screw it and ride Aly tomorrow anyways. Closing day and there's already snow on the mountains!
I managed to get charged by a moose in fernie last year after coming up on a mom and kid on a climb. Those muscle-y bodies are well worth avoiding. Pretty easy to get away from but not trying to pushy luck haha.
Great video as always
Great video guys thanks....from Australia.
such a high quality vid. thank you. just subscribed.
Epic video Eric. Well done.
Amazing videography! WOW!
Great video, great production
Eric, they're delicious! Very lean, but prepared correctly, a delicacy.
i start m y day by checking your vids... makes me miss BC
I grew up in Alaska, now I live in British Columbia. I saw the title and chuckled because that's what I tell people here!! Hahaha!! Glad you had a chance to see the state!!
I love Yuka hahah she makes me laugh.
Rode Aleyeska a few years back. The black trails were steep tech! Brother went OTB going like 30mph on a skinny through a tundra area. ‘‘Twas a blast
The ultimate skinny ride. Yikes! Glad Yuka's brakes were working properly again!
great video, looks like a fun trip
"probably something I should have looked up before driving 41 hours" - if I had a nickel for everytime I had that thought
I love your videos!!! i love you guys, you motivate me
amazing photography as always.
Keep up the good work Eric and Yuka, Your channel is more than mountain biking now, Great drone footage, I'm surprised that you haven't crossed any grizzly though lol
that was a great video, thanks for sharing!
Cause it's the Mud Season! Good stuff, keep it coming!
I love the intro song, used it on some previous videos, but it still is fantastic.
So nice to see
Awesome video! I hope you get to come back when it is drier up here.
I live on the peninsula and I can confirm it was VERY rainy... and still is, with very few sunny moments
Nice shots, I will put them on my channel
Moose are a common sight on my local trail networks here in southern Wyoming too, I came down a fast downhill section a couple years ago and came across a cow and calf in the middle of the trail, stopped maybe 10ft from them and quickly backed away, thankfully the cow didn't get aggressive, though I did have to backtrack and take a different trail down. Moose are also to Trestle bike park (Winter Park, CO) what bears are to Whistler. I remember seeing a huge bull moose walking right down the middle of Rainmaker (the main jump line of Trestle) one day last year
Great video , good music , epic production !
Amazing
Seriously it is points like this 12:35 that has me thinking that mountain bikers are some of the craziest people alive when it comes to the things they will do for fun. That being said love the content and always enjoy watching you and Yuka explore our lovely Province and beyond.
Great vid guys! The irony, could have used some of that rain on Vancouver island in August.
We don't have nearly enough miles of trails, we have a few decent ones, but our bigger trails get overgrown so quickly in the summer that they become impassible in a few weeks without brushing, but that only happens once every few years. It's a constant fight to clear the brush. The winter is actually better for riding here IMO, you can ride more places. I go down to WA for excellent riding.
Great video ❤️👍
Told ya! It wouldn’t be a ride thru Kincaid without seeing those Swamp Donkeys! Time for me to come visit your town!
This is a sign! We were just looking at trips to Alaska and I was looking into their trails. Looks like I'll be able to get some sick laps in (not in August or September though lol)
Sick vid!
marriage goals for sure ️ ❤️ thanks for making my morning.
great video
The moose hunt was funny. I have the pleasure of working in Alaska a few times a year down in Valdez, I’ve had tourists literally ask me what time the bear and moose show up to eat. It always makes me laugh.
Love your content!
Im a local in Alaska and you all should have come up here in june or early july. There was almost no rain in the frist few months of summer! Awesome to see you guys here!
This is exactly the way the weather works here in Scandinavia too, I'm Swedish, but live in Norway - So if you ever come here (or to Sweden), perhaps not during these months. Or well, August is great until about the 20th-25th. Just a tip!
Yooo nice to see someone showing off the *wonderful* biking in ak :)
Awesome vid and the moose hunt was funny, especially when you came around the corner and she was just laying there. Glad she didn't decide to get up in protection mode though. That ridgeline though, not gonna lie I was leaning hard to the right in my chair, not a line I would choose to take myself.
Wow! Great video especially on the moose experienced 😅
lol we did encounter a moose and her calf and then a bullmoose in kincaid, it was nuts!!
Dang I’ve ridden ridgeline trails before but that’s crazy. Reminds me of your footage at Leavenworth but a bit sketchier!
I think I recognized that trail in FBKS. I even recognize a stretch I helped clear.
Local Alaskan mtb'r here. Come back in June or July! It truly has been a wet August, hopefully you come back and experience more Alaska has to offer!
I was just in Winter Park, Colorado. I saw moose almost daily.
I went to Alaska in the early 2000's, I wasn't into Mtb'ing at the time but when I walked out of the airport in anchorage the first thing I saw was a moose walking in the parking lot. while hiking I saw a few moose a bear and lots of eagles, dun times
Beautiful. Makes me want to go back to Alaska. We did not see a moose at Kinkade...
Be glad you're not here right now, calling for 5-8" inches of rain in Valdez next 3 days...it's def been a wet one last 5 weeks!
There is no way I could do the knife edge ridge , the consequences are insane!
Oh my gosh! I know everywhere you guys went. I’m from the Palmer area
Amazing content 🤩👍
When I was there I ran into all kinds of moose on the pathways. They're big, kinda like a camel minus the hump.
Sooo epik awesome ❤❤❤🤘👍
The rain has definitely been a bit disappointing up here. I’m from here originally but I’ve lived in Phoenix for the last 5 years and came up here to stay with family for the summer months but it’s rained so much in the last month that I’ve barely ridden. At least when I head back to Phoenix I’ll have just entered another riding season!
Moose, sounded really funny to me, I'm a Geordie from North East England and we pronounce the word 'Mouse' as 'Moose'. Another great vid BTW.
I love how the first GoPro footage word was moose 😂😂
Thank you for visiting, I'll share some moose or yak when you return. If it's any consolation, I'm writing this on September 14th and it's still hasn't spotted raining since July 12th.
This really makes me want to apply for traveler's work in local 23.
You guys should have gone down to the beach at Kincaid, the view is amazing
Nice video! I wonder when you might come to california again? There’s a pretty cool lift access bike park called snow summit in big bear, would be cool to seee you ride there
Bcpov greatest biker in my history
