Not Ritchie Blackmore but his 1st replacement, the late, great Tommy Bolin, who also ably replaced Joe Walsh in the James Gang for awhile. This was a surprisingly good version of Deep Purple, especially with no Ritchie Blackmore but David Cloverdale vocals and Glen Hughes bass, vocals added their own touch and they went in a slightly different but still exciting direction. That album, Come Taste the Band, stands on its own as a great album. Deep Purple has many eras and members but is almost always high quality rock, and the Mark 2 version is without a doubt for me, a RR HoF band and forever group. Try their live concert video at the California Jam in 1974, their epic You Full No One has some of the best solos ever by Jon Lord, then Ritchie Blackmore. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
the higher clean vocal is Glenn Hughes. known as the voice of rock, he has been singing and playing bass in bands constantly since before his 3 albums with purple. currently in The Dead Daisies. one of my favorite currently working hard rock bands
Dean - You have spectacular taste, my friend. The current lineup of The Dead Daisies is the best it's ever been, in my opinion. I really think _Holy Ground_ should have won Rock Album of the Year in 2021. I was lucky enough to get to see the band perform live in October of 2021. They were absolutely amazing! 🤘😁
I saw Deep Purple in concert in 1985 and Lord played some classical interludes (I think Bach) in between the eardrum-shattering power organ solos. Contrast the guitar-like brute force of Lord with the haunting, melodic sounds of Ray Manzarek of The Doors, particularly on the extended live versions of songs where Jim would go off script.
Vocals by David Coverdale (lower voice) and amazing bassist Glenn Hughes (higher voice). So this is two singers, not doubling or something like that. Please check out some Glenn Hughes stuff, he is called "The voice od rock"! And this is Tommy Bolin not Blackers!
Love this - so moving yet gritty with great vocals by David Coverdale and guitar work by Tommy Bolin (who sadly died in 1976) and of course Jon Lord is over the top talented! Such a cool vibe. Thanks so much guys for reacting to this one!🧡
Hi Jules, isn't it great to hear Deep Purple again, it's been a long time. Gosh, the first heavy rock album I ever bought was Deep Purple in Rock (1970), and my absolute favourite song? - Child in Time! I think I wore that track out on my record player! 😊
@@annemaclean6634 Hi Anne, yes this is great!! I love this band - "Hush" was one of my favorites and "Child in Time". Fun to see them react to this one!😊
So great to see young guys appreciate Deep Purple, they have been in my life for 50yrs, like PF& Led Zeppelin, happy days of the 70’s, we were blessed those of us who were growing up with this ❤🙏
Gosh, Nora, for me, it's been 53 years, it was 1970 when I bought Deep Purple in Rock, my first heavy rock album! Fantastic album with my all-time favourite DP song - Child in Time. Yes, we grew up with some really amazing music, we were very lucky. 👍👍
Wonderful Deep Purple song from a great band of musicians, Jon Lord, Iain Paice, Roger Glover, David Coverdale (okay, I do prefer Ian Gillan!) but Deep Purple will always be one of my favourite bands. I've just been reading on Google that Ritchie Blackmore had left the band by this time and he was replaced by Tommy Bolin. However, to me, Ritchie Blackmore and Deep Purple are synonymous with each other, certainly when I first started listening to DP back in 1970. I know he went on to form the fantastic Rainbow, and he had great success with them, I had a few of their albums too. Other favourite DP songs, When A Blind Man Cries (1972), Space Truckin' (1972), Fireball (1971) and Storm Bringer (1974). Thanks for this reaction, guys, always interesting and enjoyable, Rainbow in the not too distant future, I hope, just like your shirt, Patrick!! Absolutely love that design from the Rainbow Rising album, I had that one, played it to death! Anyway, how about Gates of Babylon, (1978), fantastic guitar solo from Mr Blackmore! All the best, George and Patrick, take care.😊😊
@@annemaclean6634 Anne, yesterday I was listening to their Pink Floyd reaction to "Sorrow" (PULSE). It was insane and so enjoyable. I am sure you have seen it even though it was posted a while back (maybe two years ago)
@@Jules-um4yy Hi Jules, yes I have and it's brilliant, in fact I love all their reactions to Pulse songs. One in particular is Run Like Hell, because it's the last song of the concert, there's a massive explosion at the end and the look on their faces is just priceless, great reaction to the whole song! 😁😁
Deep Purple is definitely a great band, totally a psychedelic vibe. I wonder if you guys would like to do more "Rocky Mountain Way Live at the Capital Center March 1977 - Eagles" this is Americana rock at it's best. Definitely one of my favorite bands. Lovely reaction guys thanks

R.I.P. Tommy BOLIN
Always been one of my favorites. Here with Coverdale, Hughes and Bolin. The quality of this song is superb and above all, a real masterpiece!
One of the most perfect compositions from them. So beautiful and well produced! This masterpiece will never get old.

Ladys and Gentleman on guitar is the great Tommy Bolin :-) Best wishes from Switzerland. Klaus
