How to install APPLE CARPLAY & Android Auto for 2015 BMW I8

00:00:05 1. Pop-out rear cupholders and remove 2 10mm exposed nuts
00:00:38 2. Lift out panel under cupholders
00:01:16 3. Remove trim in front of the shifter and remove exposed t20 screw
00:01:59 4. Open the center console and remove 3 t20 screws - 2 are under plastic covers
00:02:13 5. Pull up to remove the front center console trim (lots of connections - take pictures!)
00:03:55 6. Remove 4 t20 screws around the shifter and unplug the wiring harness to remove shifter
00:04:25 7. Lift out trim in armrest console and remove exposed 10mm nut, 2 10mm behind and 2 10mm nut in front of console. Remove 2 t20 screws at very front of center console
00:05:27 8. Lift up and out center console - lots of connections on the bottom to detach - document connections for reference later
00:06:50 9. Remove 4 t20 screws to pull out the head unit & disconnect
00:07:32 10. Remove the plastic cover behind the screen and unscrew 2 exposed t20 screws
00:08:04 11. Lift out the screen and unplug
00:08:40 12. Use panel tool to pop off-center AC vent panel (remove plastic clips for video cable)
00:09:10 13. Feed through screen cable through to the lower area using guide rods/lines to help
00:09:57 14. Put AC vent trim back so the screen can be plugged into the new cable and repositioned
00:10:11 15. Transfer OEM optical cable from OEM main harness to Unavi main harness
00:10:36 16. Connect Unavi CarPlay unit Dipswitch settings 1 - on, 2 - on, 3 - on, 4 thru 8 - off. Optical connection needs to be moved from OEM to Unavi harness
00:11:45 17. Route USB cable to passenger footwell
00:12:03 18. Connect USB cable to Unavi unit
00:12:09 19. Connect screen LVDS to LVDS out on Unavi unit
00:12:21 20. Splice and connect two black ground cables
00:12:29 21. Connect factory LVDS cable coming from back or multimedia unit to LVDS in on Unavi unit
00:12:43 22. Find space for Unavi module behind multimedia unit
00:13:12 23. Reposition radio and reconnect everything for testing
00:13:43 24. Plug in phone to USB for testing
00:13:58 25. Toggling from OEM to CarPlay

For next time you can avoid removing the screen by just connecting pink ldvs from HU to OUT and blue lvds from HU to IN, I have tried several times and it works great
