Loved to see my old home-made engine cover and carbon overlay on this video. Yes, that glass is heavy, as I wanted something that replicated windshield glass so it could withstand the heat and vibration. It's hard to line it up to reinstall it because after I cut the big hole in the middle to mount the glass, it warped the stamped metal that was original to the i8. I hope you guys got it on there without too much difficulty. I built that in my garage from a concept because everyone wanted to see the engine at car meets. It was an honor to give this to Rich and I'm so happy to see it again!

0:55 Not the same "range extender" as the i3.
The i3 is a series hybrid, the 2-cylinder (BMW motorcycle derived 647cc 33 bhp) gas engine just drives a generator, it is not connected to anything else, it is an electric car with an on-board generator.
The i8 is a parallel hybrid, the 3-cylinder (BMW/Mini derived 1500cc turbocharged 238 bhp) engine is connected to the wheels through a transmission, the motor is used in parallel with the engine.

Internally the cars audio system makes it but there are external devices underneath that also generate sexy engine noise.

When it was announced that deliveries had started to the first UK customers I telephoned to find my delivery date and they said they had no record of my order, but I could order one for delivery in 18 months to 2 years. This was unacceptable as I expected to get on of the very first ones, it turned out that I was saved from something with high depreciation, so it was luck I was saved from i8 ownership.

At least you don't have the near impossible project ,the McLaren P1 that Tavarish has to deal with... it remains to be seen if he can pull it off...or if it will bankrupt him.

I can't see that work out out for him.
Too much carbon broken. If he doesn't drain the water from that engine soon, it will be ruined. If the battery is toast, that alone will kill it and even if he rebuilds it perfectly, it will still be a salvage title, so it probably won't ever be worth $2 million again.

I still want to know how Tavarish gets around the "Certificate of Destruction"-branded title on the P1. Even if it is fixed, it won't be able to be registered again in Florida.
