The conversation towards the end about intimacy was a great and important one. I'm beginning to find the phrase "make me feel..." to be one to discuss in and of itself. As a man with a bald head, if I was unwilling or unable to accept that I'm bald and find beauty in it, I don't think anyone else would be able to "make me feel" any differently. That change requires me to be open to viewing myself differently, and sometimes we just aren't there (and may not know how to get there), no matter what another person attempts to do. So others can participate (and we can give them feedback on HOW to participate), but I believe that we have to retain a sense of ownership of how we ultimately feel.

I had issues surrounding sex, took a hugh toll on my marriage. Other responsibilities within our marriage only heightened our lack of intimacy. There was nothing my husband could do to fix that. Affirming me all the time didn't help, because, I already had thought poorly of myself, my body and sexual intimacy. I would just say he was not being honest. Projecting my feelings onto him. I had to work on me. I realized that no one can love you more than yourself. With your cup full, you can share yourself with others.

I’M a single parent and I’m not married but your channel reaches out to me in a way that makes me feel at peace and understand the importance of singleness. I thank God for what He’s doing in me but also for your openness of what it looks like to communicate and fight through the hard parts. I am learning in relationships, in work, and in parenthood, that the tough times breathe new life. I’ve always been the person to run from it, but the fight and spiritual change is worth it.

My daughter is able to share her feelings but definitely have to leg little mama know I’m momma and so things just not going to fly. Keep the lines off communication open.

The last few minutes gives for an interesting conversation when Yvette mentions “making me feel…” or pushing past the pushback because some things are def unique to your marriage in hindsight.
It reminded me of the podcast: “30 min with the Perrys” that in marriage, Jackie specifically, needed to have autonomy with her body (history of abuse) and pushing past her “not tonight Babe” would have sent her to a different mental space.
I agree with partners affirming their partners, but postpartum is real and takes a lot of patience, unconditional love, Holy Spirit & therapy to navigate.
    Great episode!!

I don’t have kids but growing up my parents were NOT my friends! I always felt and still do that if your parents are your friends then they can’t discipline you because friends don’t discipline friends. I’m very close to my mom but she didn’t become my friend until I was grown! As a kid I knew my mom didn’t play and met business.

Love this podcast! You all show the journey and the transparency is unprecedented. Some couples tend to maintain appearances at all costs so to see this season and the flirting and affection is absolutely amazing. You all put in the work 💕🥰💕 I felt Yvette on the body changes. Most women need to get there mentally before we can ever get there physically. The words of affirmation without sex is extremely powerful because if you have the mind everything else follows.

  • @1SilentRiver
    @1SilentRiver Год назад +2

Watching this episode and many others has caused me to sympathize a great deal with men who love and desire to be faithful to their women. The complexities of a woman's mind and emotional states are exhausting and I applaud Glen for his emotional intelligence. 55:42 shows this especially. From the outside it seems to me that intimacy has always been the wedge between the two. When Glen is too honest it seems to be an affront to Yvette. Glen was honest when he said that sex was always a problem and it shattered Yvette's illusion of children, pregnancy and body consciousness being the real issue. When Yvette said "you ain't getting none of this".. she was also being honest. It seems that the withholding of sex is a form of control and tempering of some sorts masqueraded behind some emotional jigsaw puzzle that he must decipher to earn the right to her body. Wives, the truth is that your body is not your own and sex IS (a portion of) your duty to your husband. His need and desire for sex with you is the key to the emotional security you crave if you would just yield and not allow your feelings to navigate reality. Anyhow, I love that it seems that they are growing and in a much better place. Praying it continues.

Connecting on so many things this episode. I am the teacher with a one year old, baby #2 on the way, only 3 years into my marriage, and my husband is a stay at home dad. So I’m having all the feelings listening to this now. Feels good to be validated that I’m not crazy… this is hard… but also walking away with a “live through it” message and realizing there isn’t necessarily a “solution”.

I completely agree it's necessary for couples to go on a trip after they get married, even if it's just for a few days and/or somewhere simple.
Having that time to just be nothing more than Mr and Mrs before everyday life kicks in gives couples an opportunity to spend time doing nothing but solidifying their bond as married people before it has to be worked in around other things and people. Getting tight on that team level and intimacy level to start out can improve the ability to stay connected as life comes at you

MaMaa..Let me tell you, I pray that your time with teenage Anaya will be as harmonious as you say it will because I prayed for all boys when I got married. I was pregnant and the ultrasound showed a boy every time, when the baby popped out they said boy but when they cleaned her up they were like whoops she's a girl (her parts were swollen). I really should not have had that look of horror as I did in that hospital room when they said I actually have a girl but the flashback of the sass and headstrongness that I gave to my Mom flashed before my eyes and I realized that I might have to reap what I sowed. My daughter was the cutest kid and my new best friend and as an adult she is beautiful, strong and independent but them teen years gave me a run for my money and my husband and I look back on it now and laugh about how "We made it ova"Lol! My prayer game grew real strong when that girl was a teenager. Lord help you.

    Hello Glen and Yvette,
Im putting this question everywhere in the hopes you'll pick it up!
So... I'm a committed Christian and desire to be married with children one day.. However I know that this is a gift from the Lord and not a watertight promise given to me in scripture. Yes, the bible says delight yourself in the LORD and he'll give you the desires of your heart, but I don't think this necessarily means all of our desires will definitely be given to us in the exact way we want. I have a host of theological reasons for that which I won't go into..
But ... My question is, if I never were to be married, but am in a faithful committed church family with good male role models in my life, would adoption as a single parent be okay biblically? Would you recommend it, or do you think having a single father figure whom the kids can call 'dad' is an irreplaceable role?
Right now, I'm not in a position to adopt for financial reasons, but even if I were, it still feels like my kids would be missing out big time. But then again, I hear of kids in the fostering system struggling and it really breaks my heart. It seems better to offer a stable single parent home than none because God hasn't granted me a husband.
I would appreciate your thoughts. Also, interested to know your thoughts on adoption more generally and whether youve considered it (I hope that's not too intrusive!) Much Love from a long time UK subscriber ❤️ xx

I bended the tree from small so now I mostly talk to him and take away priveleges. We are extremely close and my son comes to me to talk about everything. I say all this to say that your kids are not going to hate you or resent you if you give them spankings. Its in kids nature to test us .. when they have discipline and order the family dynamic is so much better. My kids and I are super close. Beating them does not have negative effects. Now abusing them is completely different. Before I give a spanking a would have spoken to them and gave them warnings. So they know why they are getting spanked. I dont have to do it too ofen.
