I think it's clickbait to write "dark secret" because Wim has always been very open talking about his wife's story and how her death impacted him. This man is such a legend. True inspiration.

@Fred Forbes so what if he's a bit scruffy, guys an inspiration. You're be a couch potato now, when you're 61 only record you'll have is how lazy and massively round you are
@Fred Forbes are you not also personally attacking him? You said “why he looks so bad”. It’s not kind to write that what you are saying is a personal attack is what you said about this man. If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. If you have ever experienced true grief where it consumes you as often it does with Suicide it takes a toll on you in multiple ways including the aging process. The point is that’s rude for you to say, it was rude for the person to say to you as well but I think the point is this inspiring story is being shared and still what’s commented is something we really don’t have a a whole lot of control over. Just everyone needs to be nicer to each other it’s not a good feeling to see anything written or hear negative things like that. I’m sure if the man in the video by chance did read that it wouldn’t make him feel good.
There's nothing dark nor secret about this story. It's simply Wim Hof, being open about his journey as he has always been... he is a real living legend!
Nothing dark? Attaching yourself to the dream of living your life with the love of your life and wonderful kids and grow old together. Only to hopelessly be around the crumbling partner who commits suicide leaving you and crushing those dreams. As well as leaving the kids. That doesn’t exactly sound like a pleasant story
They secret is abandoning his kids for 10 years after his wife’s death and that only someone who is suffering deeply will continue to push the limits as far as Wim Hoff. Cold therapy and Yoga breathing are great, abandoning others people’s safety and well being to teach them how to push past discomfort is reckless and negligent.
Wim Hof changed my life. I was so lucky to spend a day training with him and then did a 10 day immersive training. Love him so much. And, happily for him he has been recently remarried and has another child.
That is the only motivational speaking that has ever made me cry. Amazing. He used to visit the park at 2am the same time his wife left her life. He sank under the ice to see if he could escape the overwhelming pain and sorrow just for a moment. Than he found a secret to heal many people around the world. He definitely isn't a snake oil salesman to put it lightly. Wow
Me too, I hv been following him, but didn't know that he lost his wife n all these 1st started becos he wanted to heal himself 😭... He is a gift to the world!
This exact same thing happened to me in March of 2022. It's the most unbelievable, unreal feeling to describe. The anger, sadness, and emptiness is something I'd never wish on anybody. Take care of your loved ones, try your best to understand them.
@Mother Algorithm Just know it never goes away. Feel as much as you possibly can, or else you'll instinctively ignore it. That's what I did, I left it in the back of my head. Don't do that. When everyone had moved on, I was just then feeling it.. do exactly what you want to do and also reach out to people you feel might be having those same emotions, you'll be surprised what it does
@Creatine Sandwich Wim's Catholic mother foretold that he would become a missionary. She didn't know he would be a missionary in the way he is right now, impacting millions of people's health (Wim's own story). Beautiful how history goes on to evolve.
People in high positions measure goals in life in external matter such as status, money and fame. People like Wim measure goals in life as internal matter, personal gain, control of the mind, they are on the quest for true happiness. And this people, that is why the true and real intelligent under us are not filthy rich and are not leading companies and or countries.
I’ve always noticed that the strongest and calmest have experienced a deep pain that emotionally makes them rich. What first feels like emptiness later becomes your greatest strength, the effort to keep pushing on when everything is telling you quit. So much respect to Wim Hof for truly finding himself.
I can tell you right now, if my grandpa was to die I will be depressed for years and be ruined. I have a very special bond with him and can't see how people would get over the pain it would cause if a loved one is gone.
This man changed my life with his technique, i was in deep depression with 2 panic attacks a day, could not live normal, i was in a dark loop which i could not escape anymore whatever i tried to do. You can beat depression if u master your deeper mind, that is true, it worked for me like a miracle.
Most people aren’t going to have access to Tibetan monks. Wim hof isn’t claiming it as his own, he’s just helping as many people as possible who would otherwise not have had the power to heal. And if you understood how Tibetan monks work, you would understand they don’t value ownership or any of the negative emotions you’re conveying, they would want everyone in the world to experience this.
You can't understand the agony of losing a loved one to suicide until you experience it. Worse than simply losing them. They chose to do it to themselves. Hard to grasp.
I've grown to understand that life and this world can be very painful, for some it becomes too much, and that's okay, they chose to not deal with it anymore. Suicide is such a difficult thing, you have such a strong instinct for survival, that for me personally when someone takes their life, it just means they were ready to move on. This is how I handle it though, because it's not fair to take on another humans desire to leave a plane you're content with being on for a little longer... They're two forms of consciousness that are difficult to intermingle without losing some sanity.
They choose to do it to themselves BUT those left behind live a life of questioning and deep pain. I am only trying to put myself in the shoes of those left behind. It has to be agony.
A great example of how the best things in life are born in the darkest places. I could never imagine Wim’s pain, but if it weren’t for this tragedy he wouldn’t be helping millions of people fight their own demons today. Thank you Wim ❤️
@@ubahfly5409 sort of. He might have an advantage, allowing him to get all those records, but people he shepparded in groups are just some ppl with enough money, noone special. 9:20
No. The secret is in letting go of mind, being with it, and sinking into the physical. When the mind rests, it connects to the physical, and all together a deeper world is experienced. Alignment 🙏 right here in what appears to be ordinary
@@anewagora Totally. When we let go of all, surrender, and accept ourselves and realities, and also open ourselves up to The Limitless Unknown we transform/die and are reborn into a new way of being. Breath is life, and connects us directly to the infinite energy all around us. What we are willing to open up to, and accept, and believe will determine what we percieve, and experience. Its all here and now, and we are manifestations of The One True Source. We create our own limitations and struggles, and how we react to these challenges in life is up to the individual. Evolution is happening through us all, as us all. We are All One. 🕉
@@MysticMonkeyMiracle maybe its both? Believing we are capable makes us take bolder choices, that we might otherwise not do, which will help us trancend our limitations aswell. Reminding ourselves of our successes and the positive experiences we hav had, will help motivatw us to keep moving. And, as you are saying, letting go and sinking into ourselves and accepting what comes up etc. is also a way of transforming ourselves. So to speak. Point is, maybe its not this or that, but both. Depending on what works for you and where you are in you life.
I came out of ICU 5 days ago, never thaught i had anxiety but i was exhausted and crying over nothing.. i was so weak i could barely carey a spoon. I just only do it 3 days now but i feel like im stronger and got a goal in what otherwise the doctors would call depression and would give me medicine for
Yeah, in the beginning it is really a matter of surviving. By facing the in-out, as one, we are more able to transcend it if one wishes for the healing.
I have been doing his most basic breathing techniques for about 30 days. I must say that it has become the most favorite part of my day. Yesterday, on the golf course, I did deep breathing before every shot and putt and I've never played in such a relaxed state. I shot the same score as normal, but I could feel how, with more focus and intensity, the breathing techniques could help me play better. I will say also that I have noticed that my cardio vascular endurance is up without having to run or do high intensity training. I know how to breathe now and my diaphragm has gotten much stronger. I recommend everyone give his techniques a try. It has become a daily spiritual/mental/physical cleanse and rejuvenation exercise and I've not tried anything that is comparable in either effect or satisfaction.
You cannot be great until you survive a breaking point. Wim is a freak of nature and an inspiration to those of us who have felt like we are capable of much less than what we truly are.
@@ACantu-de8pg With enough faith and enough control over your awareness litterally anything is possible 🙏 (Not a figure of speach) The nature of reality is unbound by conditions. This man is a testament of these mere facts.
This man has changed my life, my wife and I lost our first son in 2019 and we have been doing Wim Hof since then to deal with our emotional trauma, still going strong today, with breathing exercises as well. Thankfully we have another one on the way, but i cant stop telling people how much this man has truly inspired us to carry on.
You got this stay strong u will get through anything. I have suffered alot of trauma mostly child hood I have mental illness similar to his wife xx 💔 😔
This man is the closest thing I have to a Father. I love Wim Hof dearly. My heart breaks for his losses. I am so proud of him. His courage, his positivity, his dedication, his ability to pull out from the darkness. He taught me there is hope no matter what. I love this man more than he'll ever know. This man is you, he is me. Wim Hof is who we should all be. And we all can be. 😉 Within 3 weeks of breathing I understood his power. I remember when I first saw Wim on TV best part of 20 years ago and TV hosts, audiences etc would mock and laugh at him thinking he was a weirdo and a mad man. Well who's laughing now! He is a legend and no matter what people threw at him he took it on the chin and continued on his quest to help people. His whole passion is to help people and show them what they are capable of. Thank you Wim, I think you're amazing and I never once laughed at you, you inspired me. I use different cold water techniques because of what I've seen you do and it's made my life soook much better! He's truly brilliant, don't knock him.
He was never focused on becoming famous. He was focused on the agony within and the process of going into deep dark. He was meditating with the immense suffering, the hollowness of what cannot be undone. Being completely aligned and focused on that experience right in the present. Everything else that happens outside of that is just the ripple effect.
I once had a friend Wim, who was just like you. But like the love of your life, so was he and he hanged himself. Shocking. He then came to say goodbye in my dream and his look told me that he was completely okay. What a beautiful story Wim, even though it is about the deepest and most painful experience. Beautiful and an inspiration to see how you transmute it.
I can relate. Seattle, march 1993. Deep depression. Got addicted to pseudoephedrine 90 mg + 600 mg caffeine daily, and for 6 months ran/jogged 5+ hours mostly at night. Surpassed all limits. 4 months ago i encountered wim hof method. I use breathing and cold showers daily. Cold showers bring freedom and power. They are painful at first. But after several minutes they are also leading to laughter. Wim misses his wife. Perhaps she has given him this motivation.
As soon as I’m in the cold shoulder I’m laughing, I can’t help myself it’s just an involuntary reaction. The wave of positivity it brings is really surprising, it sounds ridiculous but it’s very real
"I was simply doing it as a discipline to get a hold of my agony" that hit me hard. I'm currently in agony. My mother is driving herself crazy over corona conspiracies. My studies are not going well at all as I'm simply not able to sit myself down and study. I don't sleep well nor eat. I'm also heartbroken. I've resorted to bathing in a cold lake here in germany for the past 2 days. It's not freezing cold right now but I can definitely feel what Wim is describing. You simply let go of all grief and pain while submerged. It's an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to doing it next winter when the water temperature reaches below 5°C.
His story deeply touches my heart. Such a sad and painful experience he went through......but he is allowing it to be used for so much good to help many others.💙
Forget "inspirational speakers" Wim has something no one else has. He has found what it is to be human. Forget success, or what it means to be successful, sometimes you need to be broken in order to find out what you care about most.
If you go swimming in the cold please stay near the shore. I took a little risk of swimming to deep, and suddenly my mind went blank and felt like i was about to pass out i had to really collect myself to get back to the shore, it was a scarry moment luckily i made it back. I was alone so maybe take someone with you to keep an eye on you.
same here, i swam like 60 meters total...in cold water ... at the return my arms and legs where starting to vanish..blood was going all to the core...kept my head out of the water....felt panic and barely made it...not fun experience!!!
Started cold showers for two min after my hot showers January 2021 and haven’t been as depressed since then. I still do it everyday and don’t expect to ever stop. They really help on the days that I’m thinking too much. It’s a good interruption and brings me into the present moment. And it makes me mentally stronger to face other uncomfortable things in life. I love Wim.
Im 61 ...i lost a lot in my life. Lost one of my daughters. Lost love of my life ...my wife left me.. Im lonely on this huge Planet.. Only Im and two my kids... Keep exercising every day.. Friends ? Relatevs ?Girl ftiend? No Im a lonely man... I love Wim Hoff breathing stuff... Life is practically over.. 10 -20 years....History...
Nikolei, you are never alone because God is watching you. He wants you to beg Him for help. Because we human can't do much except when He gives us the willpower to do it. Seak guidance and help from Him. He is near when you call Him.
I've been doing ice plunges for a year after watching his videos. I love plunging in the morning... it makes me a happier more energized person during the day and I believe a better human to those around me. Thanks Wim.
It’s crazy how cold water helps. My gf committed suicide, and somehow I was drawn to the cold. Started by sitting outside in the winter, eventually I was diving in glacial rivers. It feels really weird seeing this story.
It’s strange that the majority off people have a fear of death. But anyone who’s had a genuine near death experience loses the fear of death? Most express the tranquility and peacefulness of deaths front door. Beautiful story ❤️
I felt strongly I was going to die when I was a kid, earliest memories, and I was at peace with it. Never feared death. Only a sense of wonder. Love and rarity for this limited life that once felt like a prison 🙏😌
i had a near death experience, i was scared at first. but death i now accept with open arms. im not looking or waiting for it. but when the day comes i will be ready
I have so much admiration for this man and his breathing techniques, I’ve been doing his breathing and cold showers for only 2 months and I am already starting to see big changes in my life
In his grief he found a way to manage and move forward. He has shared his vision and method with the world. He’s a true healer and the most remarkable man.I wish there were more Wim Hofs in the world, he’s worth a thousand politicians, they cannot even compare.
I have admired this mans courage and determination for a few years now since i heard of him. I had no idea until this point about the personal pain he and his children have had to face. The man is a 1 man army and the poster boy for Stoicism. Much respect Wim :]

The way he tells his story, the way he talks, the way you feel every emotions he has while he is preaching this beautiful tale of how the human body and mind is unbreakable. When one thinks he's lost everything, comes back up with pain inside but strength so powerful is tames it and so much more than what was lost in the heart and mind. Truly a beautiful inspiring story.
What an absolutely insane man, bless him. Sharing his experience has touched my heart in so many ways. We can do anything if we learn how to use our own mind!!
I am so very sorry man.I have lost very important people as well......sends you on an unpredictable journey with ups and downs. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I think his agony triggered some biochemical changes in his brain and body , made him largely immune to pain , made him enjoy the pain, the pain turning into a cathartic experience, it brought about a state of thoughtlessness , the ultimate goal of ' dhyana' ( meditation for want of a better word) . Enduring physical pain alleviates emotional pain ,a process not yet fully understood by psychiatrists or psychologists.
I know this is an old post but I recommend watching his interview with Russel Brand. He has scientific proof that all of us have access to this freedom. Haven’t we all experienced our own agony?
His agony was the driving factor to expose himself to cold and through breathing exercise, just look up Radboud University Wim hof, they actually inject him with dead bacteria that normally causes a violent reaction of the immune system. He was able to control this through meditation and breathing and cold therapy. Everyone can learn this.
Never knew this individual until today. This is beyond hard core. Losing someone who really made you feel alive and loved. Then turning his body into an unstoppable machine which allowed him to cope with the loss via the median of cold water. I know about endurance and that mental fortitude to keep going even when you want to stop. He is in a whole other realm. This has become his superpower.
This mans secret... he doesn't give up ! No matter the pain he found his way out that allowed him to keep living 💯... this man is the world's teacher and we should all take note ! All of us ! Because we are all in this together ❤
Wim, you could not help her. But you have helped me, and yourself. When we are suffering, mentally and physically, we are drawn to the cold water. 3 years ago I went in, and I go in twice a day now. Thanks Wim
His work has helped me come back from heart surgery, diabetes and anemia to be able to really walk and fell almost normal again...Wim is an inspiration and guiding light. But what a terrible tragedy to have to bear...

I was fortunate enough to drown when I was young child. Thank fully I was brought back. What this did for me was to understand exactly what he stated there is no need to fear death. once you start going it is actually peaceful. I started doing Wim Hof breathing and after the third cycle and especially that last dying gasp that brings you back you get that near death experience again and suddenly your body and mind is right with the universe again. It is as close to magic as you will ever experience in your life.
I think you missed the point of the video. He forced cured his depression/despair by chance through something stronger, the cold. I shut out his thinking and gave him peace of mind. More like the cold forced him to use powerful primordial chemicals in the brain that we all have, such as canniboids and opioids, and we have forgotten to tap into. The pain was all in his head, love chemicals which are very strong and are mean't to bond partners was controlling his thoughts. Moral of the story is: 1. don't fall in love in the first place, because fall you will. 2. Nature cures depression. 3. Be in control of your body and mind. 4. We have powerful chemicals in our primordial brain that has helped us survive, and we are beginning to find this out. We all die, so stop grieving over something you don't control and live life to the best of your abilities, and enjoy it. Don't become a prisoner in your own mind. Yes we are stronger as a collective, that is how humans have survived in groups for millions of years, noticed I said survived. Survival is the biggest motivator, the problem is we have made our lives easier through technology, work at something we don't like doing, or let negative thinking and debilitating chemicals affect us. Humans are not mean't to be slaves and slaving away at work, we are mean't to be out in nature enjoying life and have social interactions, not social interactions through the phone.
Nice Ayn Rand bullshit. It’s an utterly false equivocation. Without any previous collective, no “individual” would exist. We’re hardly individuals when we’re comprised of an infinite number of collective processes. You can’t even call the, “individual rights” when they belong to everyone in the collective, thus the term “civil rights”. We might be specific person, but we’re not “individuals”. You’re just parroting the very status quo that’s betrayed you this whole time. You’ll see as people prod with their curiosity. 👇
@@danielhiebert6167 ~ it was FH Visuals who took it political by parroting Ayn Rand.. Pepper Harlet was just dumb enough to emphasis the point is all. You’ll see why shortly. 🤗
My father also took his own life. My deepest love and compassion to your kids. We have to change this world . We have to change within. Go for it Wim !
What an amazing individual. When you hear him talk about his wife - you can see his pain in his eyes, face & demeanour and it makes me emotional because it's a look that you can only relate to when you've been through grief.
"It's a black hole within yourself." He said it so well. When he talked about how the cold makes your "emotions stop" before, I knew he had been through a time in his life when he needed that release. It's the strangest feeling to find your soulmate and then lose them.
I remember when I first heard how he became the iceman... I wept. I openly wept. I was so excited to learn about cold, and breathing techniques, and was blind to the fact that it was love and pain that made it possible. It is incredible that he somehow made it back from the darkness and brought light into the world through his pain.
Makes me cry. Hearing this beautiful testimony. He's an amazing man. . ❤ I been practicing this method for a month in my cold pond. It makes my life worth living . The cold makes me survive. My energy level has changed. ❤❤t
This information really does everything to frame his mindset. I’ve been struggling to adjust to the cold shower habit, and I’m expecting that if I can manage to frame the exercise as a response to my own grief and emotional struggles it might make the difference
To those who are at their lowest moment right now, remember what Wim Hof said “The best is yet to come!” If you are reading this, we can do this, do not give up my brothers and sisters.

Thank you Dex. and best of wishes to you and everyone else who are either already on this journey and those who are about to embark on it: Toward inner freedom, then Inevitably and thus collectively both innner and outer. Then in the year 2012 I asked her to be with me and she said yes; She was everything for me till November 15 2020 she was hit by a car. That day was the day I lost everything I ever loved. I didn't want to live anymore and was confused. But now that I saw that I'm not alone in this world who had this pain I want to move on and to back control over my life and over what I want to do and over what I want. Thenk you Wim and I really mean this. I hope i can say this to you in real life one day here in Belgium or in the Netherlands.

Its so Terrible 😥😭
I've grown to understand that life and this world can be very painful, for some it becomes too much, and that's okay, they chose to not deal with it anymore. Suicide is such a difficult thing, you have such a strong instinct for survival, that for me personally when someone takes their life, it just means they were ready to move on. This is how I handle it though, because it's not fair to take on another humans desire to leave a plane you're content with being on for a little longer... They're two forms of consciousness that are difficult to intermingle without losing some sanity.

I don't know this man personally, but I can't help loving him. He brings so much hope!
When u r already freezing cold on the inside, the coldness around u matter no longer!

I’ve heard his story so many times and it never fails to inspire and get me crying
His agony was the driving factor to expose himself to cold and through breathing exercise, just look up Radboud University Wim hof, they actually inject him with dead bacteria that normally causes a violent reaction of the
immune system. He was able to control this through meditation and breathing and cold therapy. Everyone can learn this.
