@@becky2595 In no way is that considered juvenile nonsense. What's wrong with this country is the fact that we have people like Trump and Kemp who are doing absolutely nothing to mitigate these types of issues (everyone has a part to do, not just Republicans and Democrats). If anything, the juvenile nonsense comes from Kemp's response to that question. Yes, it is appropriate to mourn and focus on the victims, but I'd expect policy or improvement would be one of the next things on a governor's mind. I'm a Christian from south Georgia and believe in the power of faith and prayer, but faith without works is dead. I understand that a gun may be used to stop an individual from committing a crime like this tragic one yesterday. I know that gun control laws are a slippery slope and wouldn't be a panacea. The fact of the matter is that we see the same response to these events repeatedly, but people get riled up about "rights" when certain solutions are presented. Shootings are a symptom of bigger issues that need to be resolved. Instead of banning books from schools and attacking history that needs to be shared, why don't these districts and legislators stop gutting public education and focus on ACTUAL matters?

In 2022, Kemp signed a bill into law that expanded gun rights, allowing Georgians to carry handguns in public without a license or background check. A “lawful weapons carrier,” or any person who is eligible to purchase a firearm, can now concealed-carry a handgun. Long guns could already be carried in many places without a permit.

Nothing will get better until parents step up and PARENT!!! All the bitchin and moaning and wringing of hands won't ever make anything better. Humans must be RAISED AND TAUGHT how to respect, love, interact, react appropriately, manage feelings, deal with disappointment, and have humility and remorse, and they need negative consequences when appropriate at a young age. All the 'spoil your rugrat because you want a friend" approaches will only ever create nightmare adults. Kids also need to experience pride in success and a sense of purpose. They need to be KIDS, and kept sheltered as much as humanly possible from all the nonsense of the perverted internet, until they've matured. These things don't magically happen! You have to DO THE PARENTING. If every single person wakes up tomorrow and makes it a point to BE an involved parent, or help a parent, and sticks with it, a difference will be felt.

@@becky2595 the guns laws in a majority of states (especially southern states are being lifted). Many states don’t require a license to carry a conceal. The NRA wanted Florida to get rid of permits period. Some states don’t require background checks.
And I don’t get what your statement about criminals means. It’s a confusing statement. People don’t need all these type of guns.
Let’s consider the safety of the children, this has seems to become the norm( for school shootings to happen yearly). And the weapon that is always used is a high powered rifle, soooo what is the common denominator here. More children are harmed in this country than any other developed country.
