I'm a person who barely follows celebrities, but since that I've seen Selena's story she became such an inspiration for me. Not for being perfect, but for being real and for being strong. My whole life I've had to deal with insecurities, fear of being judged and the attempt of trying to be perfect. The result was a sad person who barely had motivations in life. I used to spend the whole day on the internet or playing games because it was kinda my escape from reality. I was always wondering what i was doing here, because i couldn't find any purpose or meaning in my life. I was a lonely person, who literally had no friends at school, and my family always complaining about it telling me to change but no one really helped me but made me feel more insecure about social interactions!! As a teenager i only made 1 single friend, and we still talk until nowadays btw. I had no dreams for my future, and ya a lot of other stuff that would make a really long text if i did write everything here... I'm currently 21, thankfully not at school anymore, and my life changed like 1 year ago... I've always felt i didn't fit on what people wanted me to be or to do, and it was what hurted the most, because i was unhappy doing what people thought that was the right thing to do. The most scary moments for me was breaking everything that people said that was the best.. and start from the whole 0 even not knowing exactly where to go, but i stopped caring about what people thought about my choices... and decided to make my own choices for my own risk, if i did the right thing great, but if i didn't ok it was my choice!! I was just tired of living based on fear of things not working without even trying. I started taking more care of myself to work on my self confidence, wearing outfits i really like and focusing on the best parts of myself... physically and mentally. I dropped my previous college to study computer science that was really my choice even tho i was not sure if it was the right thing to do, probably a lot of people judged and didn't understand this change. But incredibly it was the best thing I've ever done, the happiness i feel now is something so big and genuine, like i really found myself on what I'm doing now. On this college i found people that i really like and that i care about, including my current bf that is like the most amazing and supportive people I've ever met. For making my own choices without caring about ppl opinions and keep going even when i was scared, I've got so many blessings. I have an amazing job now aswell and it's like I've found my motivation to live, the past few years that i had no hope and had a lot of fears, and little by little it became a memory... and it's like I'm living now everything that i didn't live in my whole teenager days. I still not perfect, i have a lot to learn but just by living feeling like you're doing the right thing already feels different...
My daughter made me watch the documentary over the holidays, It made me want to hug her. God bless you Selena, you have touch so many hearts throughout your journey I look forward to see what God has stored for you! ❤
As an extrovert and a content creator, this is hard to say... but spending time alone is VITAL to embracing our insecurities. And no, I don't mean "alone scrolling on social media or "alone watching Netflix"... I mean alone having a warm bath, or hiking in nature. Spend more time alone, watch your insecurities heal :)
It takes a lot of courage to come out and talk about mental health. I'm a psychologist who has had my own personal journey . This is a cause super close to my heart and it's always touching when someone overcomes the "conditioned shame, stigma and taboo", and pours their heart out. There is so much to learn and understand,, to be more kind, sensitive, compassionate and to do ur own in whatever capacity that you can.
I watched the documentary this weekend. Twice. I identified with so many of her issues. Watching this interview On Purpose, I’m a fan now; a fan of her heart and soul…and incredible strength. I admire her desire to live a life of service. She is a remarkable being who I believe is going to make this world a better place.
Hi beautiful fan thanks for being an amazing fan I wanna thank you your love and support showed towards me all this while, I want to let you know that your likes and comments on my page have never gone unnoticed
This was so refreshing to see Selena being interviewed with her mom, it took the celebrity aspect out and just see people interacting and giving their experiences. It was inspiring to listen to them, thank you
Selena congratulations to you, you are a wonderful talented young lady, you're gifted continue to do the best you can. In relationships don't settle, being single is freedom, and things you can do being single you can't do while in a relationship, good things comes to them that wait. I thank you for all the good you are doing continue to do good and surely goodness and mercy shall follow you
What a gift to have a mother who is willing not to live in denial, or become so closed off and defensive. My parents and older siblings choose to gaslight and make the scapegoat. They have made me feel like all my mental health struggles are something I’m exaggerating and choosing to wallow in. I’m surprised I’m still standing and as sane as I am. It’s hard to not be resentful and envious of what it would have been like to have loving support on long my journey. Any mother who has the courage to be honest helps to facilitate true authentic healing. This starts to help the minimize the stigma. Having the stigma of the world against you it does not help if family adds to it.
I loved reading your words. My relationship with my mother was difficult. As a result I have tried to be there for my children. Evaluating our lives emotions and relationships is a great skill. All the best on your journey.
I often wonder how my journey would have been as well if I had loving support by my family throughout it, definitely would have made it easier. However it has made me a very strong independent woman. That I'm truly grateful for.
I cried while watching Selena's Documentary. Selena So real n hence my eyes filled with tears. Love from India 🌹Be strong, no matter what we are always with you.

This was a special episode. Thank you. I really appreciated Selena’s mom’s input. As a young mother, I really relate to both of their perspectives of life, depression, hope and the work it takes to heal. I frequently am wondering how open I should be with my daughter, when to step in as a mama and when to listen, how to be vulnerable and not consistently down. I truly appreciate the honesty of this episode.
I've been struggling these few days, and slipping back. Came across this conversation, hearing Selena voice out these struggles and emotions, trying to reframe the mind, it's helping me. I needed this. Thank you so much.
I experience Bipolar 1 and commend Selena for speaking her truth. It’s caused a ripple effect that has made me more accepting of the illness and committing to learning more and using this diagnosis as a strength.
Hearing her talk about having to befriend her bipolar is so hard. I am still in a place of somewhat denial and trying to work against it at times. I often ignore when it speaks to me bc I don’t want to hear it. I am scared of it. When I am going through a depressive episode I get frustrated and hate when I can’t get out of bed. When I’m going through mania, I feel embarrassed and forcefully lock myself away.
Don’f feel embarrassed! It’s a natural & normal thing… it’s something that should be normalized. You have a beautiful & strong mind! Just keep yourself educated & fill your beautiful mind with beautiful thoughts! & if that doesn’t work just listen & let it go… negativity doesn’t define you. You define your thoughts! Just know that there is hope it may be hard to feel but just keep the faith! Sending love & light on your journey you beautiful energetic being. ❤️
I feel this way about my depression and avoidant behavior. I love that she befriends her bipolar because it's honest. It's a reminder that it's not you but part of you and that it's not going away and will teach you something about yourself always. Have self compassion as you would a friend going through it. What would you say tothem? I tell myself to get comfortable with the uncomfortable, breathe and keep going even if it's a tiny step. Progress not perfection.
Take your time! It is a process and you are healing but step by step. Accepting is one of the hardest steps in healing. But you will experience it and feel relieved when you are ready.

So refreshingly honest! I want to thank you, Jay for having this conversation with Selena and her mother, Mandy. As someone who has been struggling with bipolar and ptsd issues much of my life, the lightbulb moments that I experienced watching and listening to this were incredible! At age 65 this year, I feel like I am just beginning to understand my mental health issues as being part of who I am and not feeling ashamed of them. My motto is "We are all here to help each other." Thank you all for helping me today.
I’m someone who’s lost her mom when I was 3, dad when I was 16 and my elder sibling in the year 2021 :) I mean I’m definitely hurt but I have planned big things for myself as I’m moving to a different country soon to pursue my studies.. I’m just grateful to them for raising me and made me the person I am today.
Hey dear I'm really proud of you, even though i don't know you in person but I can feel how great you are as a person , study hard and always surround yourself with positive people and be happy. God bless you with lots of success and love!
Thank you Selena you are going to be helping so many people. However, it will be the younger generation moving forward that hopefully you’ll inspire to be able to freely open up about mental health issues without feeling embarrassed or singled out in any way. Selena truly seems to be genuinely interested and concerned about other people and bringing her own personal life out in the open this way shows the world you can’t get any more humble than that.

Jay, you are such a great listener and communicator. Selena was spoken to with such reverence and honor as she deserves. This helps so many with mental illness and it takes such courage to speak about this.
Having Mandy added an extra layer of realness and depth. I wish there was more Wondermind content like a podcast where people can open up about feelings in a safe way. I love any Sel and her mom content they have such a nice relationship that they’ve won. Selena is who she is bc of her mom
I watched this for the first time on Mother’s Day. I’m a mother but I didn’t get to spend my Mother’s Day with my 2 yr old son this year. I’m a single mom in the Navy trying to make a better life for us while my mom helps me looks after him I’m 1st generation in America as well. It was nice seeing her bond with her mother and the conversation helped me a lot. It was nice seeing a celebrity helping others.
Thank you for sharing your story! This has helped me to understand my journey with my son. He’s in college and doesn’t come home much or communicate like I’d love him to this conversation helped me to know I’m not alone. I’ve beat myself up thinking I’ve done this or that! I’ve apologized so many times. Thank you so much.💗
6:16 “I still believe and I still hope. I hope for love, and I hope for healing, and I hope for change.” “But I would rather continue to get my heart broken than to not feel at all.” - this is such a powerful statement and it reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Andre Aciman - “But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything - what a waste!”
I genuinely love Selena. I have been since I was a kid. Now that I`m 25 I relate to her so much more. I look up to her. She deserves the world. I love Selena and her realness. Truly a good soul shines through and I am sk glad she is seeing more of it. As a mom I identify with her mom’s reflection of raising my child. Always something i wish i did differently or knew back then. I Always apologize too because it helps to validate her feelings or experiences. So important

She's brave, strong and very inspirational. Selena is literally the perfect role model to me and to many others.
❤
Happy for you! Keep growing, and empowering yourself
So proud of you hun! Blessings always and never forget how beautiful you are even when you may not feel like it! Xoxo
😊
How did you know what to do?
My daughter made me watch the documentary over the holidays, It made me want to hug her. God bless you Selena, you have touch so many hearts throughout your journey I look forward to see what God has stored for you! ❤
As an extrovert and a content creator, this is hard to say... but spending time alone is VITAL to embracing our insecurities. And no, I don't mean "alone scrolling on social media or "alone watching Netflix"... I mean alone having a warm bath, or hiking in nature. Spend more time alone, watch your insecurities heal :)
I agree, I find when I'm consuming too much content or "oversocialising", my insecurities skyrocket.
Yessss reminds me of that quote - "a man can solve most of his problems if he is willing to sit in a room alone, in silence, and think."
cannot argue, tho too much alone time would drive me INSANE!
I relate to that especially warm baths.... I seem to have some mental and emotional breakthroughs in there :)
Thank you for that - I'll spend some time alone.... right after watching this podcast 😅
Wow didnt know she was this mature. Intelligence and depthness she embodies.
Is it true that she didn't include her friend, that gave her kidney, to the documentary? I like Selena very much and that would upset me
@@asiyatsarbasheva2402 she did but it wasn't the main focus
🙏👍it true
@@asiyatsarbasheva2402 Her kidney donor doesn't need to be praise every time Selena opens her mouth.
This gets Me mad. 😡
"I would rather continue to get my heart broken than to not feel at all" got me🤧
Hi beautiful fan thanks for being an amazing fan I wanna thank you your love and support showed towards me all this while, I want to let you know that your likes and comments on my page have never gone unnoticed
so happy her mum was on the show, a lot of the things we go through are generational, amazing to see them collaborate
I thank you for all the good you are doing continue to do good and surely goodness and mercy shall follow you
so inspiring
I'm improving my level of English listening each and every episode.
Good luck jay sethi❤
I love how honest and humble she is, she never gave up and stood strong,so proud
I hear you and feel you. Being an empath in a family of narcs is extremely painful and challenging. God bless you on your journey.
Selena is one of the most kind-hearted person I've ever seen! Love her 💖
I cried while watching Selena's Documentary. Selena So real n hence my eyes filled with tears. Love from India 🌹Be strong, no matter what we are always with you.

She’s so special.. since I was little she was my favourite. So happy that we have so wondeful people as a celebrities! Love her! ❤
she is so sweet, humble and kind like her mother. The world needs more people like Selena . I like listening to your podcasts
Finally! Thank you for having someone who
is truly empathetic and in touch with the world around her. She helps other and is so kind to her fans. Thank you!!
♥️
The way you explained this made it so easy to understand. 🧠
I've been struggling these few days, and slipping back. Came across this conversation, hearing Selena voice out these struggles and emotions, trying to reframe the mind, it's helping me. I needed this. Thank you so much.
She’s so calm and zen and when she talks about personal deep stuff her voice becomes almost like they slowed down the speed on the video
This entire interview is so needed in the entire world. This is reality and it embraces a reality for folks.
I experience Bipolar 1 and commend Selena for speaking her truth. It’s caused a ripple effect that has made me more accepting of the illness and committing to learning more and using this diagnosis as a strength.
The vibe here is just *chef's kiss* 🔥
You're strong and every day is an opportunity to find your own way to manage this. Hope you're feeling better💜
Take your time! It is a process and you are healing but step by step. Accepting is one of the hardest steps in healing. But you will experience it and feel relieved when you are ready.
You are so strong for this and I hope you can see that you are amazing.
Jay Shetty is excellent at what he does. He genuinely listens and empathizes with all the single words being said. Ontop of that, he asks the right questions to maintain a quality conversation.
You’re such a inspiration for me, that you’re shining light on Lupus, and how it effects our body. I don’t feel so alone the more people know about this disease. To know we aren’t lazy because we have a invisible illness. Thank you for all you do
she's such a inspiration for us
Selena is someone that I would keep for my entire life... she's so precious 🥲🥹 I love her..
Selena is one beautifully raised human with the greater outlook in life. She is a healer for millions out there ❤
Selena is a deceiver & a hypocrite. She craves FAME & WEALTH & wants to be in the SPOTLIGHT ALWAYS. Sold her SOUL long time AGO & FOOLED the world for YEARS. TIME THE TRUTH GOT EXPOSED. 99% OF THE CELEBS ARE PART OF THE ILLUMINATI.
She is so sweet and kind, big hug for Selena
Selena and her mom grew up together. My mom had me very young too and we are best friends. I love their bond 🤍
There’s a blessing in the breaking, such a powerful and beautiful heart
I’m someone who’s lost her mom when I was 3, dad when I was 16 and my elder sibling in the year 2021 :) I mean I’m definitely hurt but I have planned big things for myself as I’m moving to a different country soon to pursue my studies..
I’m just grateful to them for raising me and made me the person I am today.
Proud of you ♥️ best of luck ♥️
Hey dear I'm really proud of you, even though i don't know you in person but I can feel how great you are as a person , study hard and always surround yourself with positive people and be happy. God bless you with lots of success and love!
To your not so positive days, just know and acknowledge they also exist, embrace them and make room for a better day! 🫶🏼
selena is gorgeous and so wise, so good to have her with us. The world is so much better thanks to her music
What a great episode, her and her mother talked so transparently about being vulnerable, not being perfect and trying to just be... wow❤
She’s so wise beyond her years! Love her so much ❤
Thank you Selena you are going to be helping so many people.
Selena is a deceiver & a hypocrite. She craves FAME & WEALTH & wants to be in the SPOTLIGHT ALWAYS. Sold her SOUL long time AGO & FOOLED the world for YEARS. TIME THE TRUTH GOT EXPOSED. 99% OF THE CELEBS ARE PART OF THE ILLUMINATI.
she such a genuine, honest, loving person and celeb. love her
Jay, you are such a great listener and communicator.
My favourite moment too! Almost had me in tears
“getting comfortable with uncomfortable things”
There’s the growth
Or it’s debilism to choose not a comfort when you can choose a comfort
I genuinely love Selena. I have been since I was a kid. Now that I`m 25 I relate to her so much more. I look up to her. She deserves the world. I am so happy such a beautiful soul exists and spreads so much compassion, kindness and love. May god / the universe protect her, bless her with health, happiness and all the love there is. 🫀
Selena is the most humble celebrity I've seen...it can really show❤
Selena Gomez, you’re truly beautiful inside and out. Keep being a great example especially for many millennials
I love Selena and her realness. Truly a good soul shines through and I am sk glad she is seeing more of it. As a mom I identify with her mom’s reflection of raising my child. Always something i wish i did differently or knew back then. I Always apologize too because it helps to validate her feelings or experiences. So important
Wow, you always make me realize that the power is within me! Right when I'm losing hope, you pick me right up!
When she said she's not striving to be number 1 she just wants to be enough really touching. So humbling.
"I want you to know that we see you for that." (a person full of love and kindness). The way Jay said that was so pure and genuine. Selena needed to hear that. Thank you for bringing such amazing human being.
Thanks to Jay for being so warm and sensitive to his guests. It is great to see that it is not just an interview but a dialogue and communication of equal parts 🙏
I am truly in awe about your facilitation of this conversation Jay. It shows just how an attentive listener you are and how passionate you truly are about important conversations like these.
She's brave, strong and very inspirational. Selena is literally the perfect role model to me and to many others. I love how she always talks from a normal human being point of view that we all can relate to and not a famous person that their only struggles are related to fame. Bless her, I hope she stays happy for the rest of her life.
Role model for what? Talking about 5 year old break up again and again . Taking friends kidney and drinking and abusing that friend eww find a better role model
@@journalshours3524 That breakup was part of HER life and she has the full right to speak about it for the rest of her life as long as she’s not mention his name. Plus she never drank after the kidney transplant it always been a juice, water or an empty glass you can go and check all her videos since you have the time to click on her interview’s link and check all the comments. And next time when you insert yourself in topics that you’re not involved in, make sure tiktok videos is not your sources.
how is she inspirational when she has just denied her best friend that gave her a kidney???
@@LaurenTuong she never denied her! Not once.. stop putting words in people mouths and jumping on the media bully train. People that do that are the problem. Selena even posted on the same thread sorry she didn’t mention everyone she knew and fransica already had deleted her comment… why because she regretted it and came from an impulse moment.
@@journalshours3524 but yet here you are watching her interview…. If you don’t have any interest in her or have anything nice to say… hop off, move along, keep your negative hateful abusive comments to yourself. It’s ironic how you feel entitled to blast Selena about being an abusive friend when you don’t even personally know her, yet here you are being an abusive media groupie spreading hate. Makes no sense
I how real and RAW this interview is.❤Selena Gomez is authentic and strong. You can tell she's been through a lot. It's so refreshing how they opened up the topic of mental health and therapy.
Selena Gomez is making sense to me with this being a celebrity that's not seen as perfect stuff. That's a great way of uplifting the people.
You can tell that Selena is really kind hearted, humble and such a sweetheart! Thank you both for a beautiful conversation! 🙏🏻💞✨
Selena - just allow yourself to love "you"
You are a gift to others. You made me shed a tear. I love your selflessness. You just GO girl!! ❤️
Learning about what you feel and hardships you are going through is powerful. I thank you guys for spreading awareness and sharing your pain and experiences in a humane way. It's a rare pictures of our realities. Beautiful 🥰
Wow!!! Everything she is saying is legit what I've been going through. Wow... I wouldn't have never known.. I'm currently working with a trauma therapist.. and she honestly just made me cry because I do not know who can relate to me...
Bipolar and extra things... Are not easy to deal with. Learning to live with it, befriending the demons while silencing others.
She's a true hero. I don't wanna sound cliche. But I'm grateful to have watched this podcast. Thank you!
This interview amazed me! It was the first time I saw Selena and her mom from the other side. God, they talk so openly about their difficulties and it's so inspiring! Thank you. Kill Em with Kindness ❤
She is lucky to have come to the realisations that she has, while her mother is still alive, and to be able to have that vulnerable, honest and candid discussion with her mom. Strength for all of you in this discussion.
I literally say to myself when i look at Selena, that if she can fight and go through it being that famous, definitely you can too! It really does help!

I appreciate that you all shared your experiences and let us learn from them or realise them from our lives, which already exist. It was beautiful and lovely.
