    Exceptionally well done! From 1984 to 1992, I worked as a Park Naturalist there, doing evening slide programs and leading interpretive hikes. It was my favourite park back then. Not so much now. As you noted, likely busier during the busy season. Visitation has increased from 380,000 per year to well over 800,000 per year. Huge impact on a sensitive environment. Fond memories though.

    You are absolutely correct about Sandbanks in the summer. You may have noticed the roads are "interesting" in PEC and until Parks started a booking system for entry it was gridlock there. Great video we're planning a trip to Sandbanks in Oct, like you I had no idea there was that much to do in the Park.

    We camped at Sandbanks in August and loved the park. We had site 844 in West lake B campground near the Dunes Beach. Although the whole park was packed it was still nice. The comfort station was awesome clean and new, and they had a nice dumping station setup. It was 2 water lanes and 2 dump lanes. The campsites were beautiful and large but but our only complaint was the fire pit locations, they were right next to each other so there was no privacy at all. Even if you wispered at the fire pit your neighbor would hear the whole conversation. So for that reason we didn't have any fires. But back to the positive it was a beautiful scenic area to be enjoyed. Loved driving around and visiting Picton!! We will definitely be back to try a different campground area! Please continue your park visits as I love seeing your park reviews!

    Great to hear your review. I've always heard it is a very nice park. I stayed there numerous times motorcycle camping in the 80"s. I've heard it's now crowded and a little tighter spaced than others but that's what you get when you get too close to Toronto.

    Enjoyed your review. We’ve been at Sandbanks 3 times in the last year and a half and love it. We’ve always gone in the off season and enjoy all the trails for biking and hiking. The beach is great but there is so much more.

      We just arrived at Algonquin, Canisbay this afternoon. The whole drive up the leaves were green. As soon as we entered the park the colours appeared. It's beautiful. Too bad about the weather forecast. In a travel trailer we stay warm and dry. If we were tenting we might have rethought camping this weekend. Hopefully you can still get out for another trip before the season ends.

      @@CampingwiththeColes Just curious, did you two go on the "Cedar Sands Trail" inside of the main park? If my memory recalls (haha) I think there are 2 options - a shorter walk and much longer walk. They are both amazing! Anyways, Thanks for replying folks :)

    Great review. Sandbanks is our local park where we have camped for many years. It definitely is mostly about the beach but as you saw there is lots to do. We often went to the drive in for a night away from the camp fire. The park is so popular we have started travelling to other parks like Rondeau, Long Point, Pinery etc and enjoyed your reviews of those parks. Happy camping!!

    Just curious as to why you fill your trailer fresh water tanks at the parks instead of at home - is it a towing weight issue? Love your reviews, it is helping us with our park planning. Wonder if you've ever looked at Emily Provincial Park?

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  2 года назад

      Cheryl packs our trailer pretty full so I always worry about the weight. I don't want to be carrying an extra 400lbs when I can just fill up at the park. I always check park alerts before heading out to make sure there isn't a boil water advisory. If there is, I'll half fill the tank at home.

    Nice review! We were @the KOA in Kingston camping a few weeks ago. We made the ferry trip (in our SUV) over to PEC. I was able to get to the entrance of the park with long line up. (Seems like everything, these days: book early) Thank you for the “inside” look at the park. BTW, we’re those electric bikes you were riding? I wonder if you can rent them? Anyway, thx for another excellent video. Already looking forward to your Algonquin video!

      Cheryl has an e-bike that we got in August. She is loving it. I'm just trying to keep up with my old school bike. We plan on doing a review of the e-bike later this year. I don't know if you can rent them at the parks. I'm sure that is something that will likely happen in the near future.

    • @CampingwiththeColes

      We don't have a video really showing our kayak carrier. I have roof racks installed on my truck cap and I attach the J-Cradle type kayak racks to the roof racks. I then use Ratchet straps to strap them down near the front and back.

    Off topic question.
    We are close to picking up our new Northern Spirit travel trailer from RustonsRv. We were offered the extended warranty, 7 years for $3000 CAD. Did you get the extended warranty? Any thoughts from other viewers are welcome.

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  2 года назад

      We bought our trailer from RustonRV too. We didn't get the extended warranty. We had very few issues that we discovered within the first couple of months so we wouldn't have used the extended warranty anyway. But ya never know what you're getting, quality wise, from RVs these days. It's a tough choice. Good luck!
