That's true. I visited2 rolex dealers last week in Antwerp and their windows are now more filled than I can remember. A number of daytona's, day-dates and even some Patek aquanauts that start to show up. Of course there probably won't be many steel Daytona's or Nautilus in there.

I never understand this shortage of supply issue, today there are 10,000 Rolex Daytona’s on chrono24 for sale 🧐, agreed not a retail price, but that’s a different issue.
The claims and the reality don't fit. If they haven't been able to ramp up production to meet demand since the pandemic then they aren't well oiled machine.
Rolex is big enough now that are pulling out of F1 sponsorship and saving 150M per year and social media is doing it for free😂 and Roman is the head influencer for that👍
That IWC is fire!!! Ref. 1832 came with Mechanical movements and quartz (Ref. 3300, the one you have). Certainly was the first, but Mr. Genta wasn’t happy with the chunky appearance (compared to Royal Oak and Nautilus, that had the JLC ultra thin movement) and in 1980 IWC launched the ref. 3303. Imho the 3303 is the most beautiful and well balanced, despite the quartz movement. Only 149 unit have been produced in steel (black and rhodium dials combined) and is a true rarity! Except by the fact to be quartz, far away in value of the 3700 or the 5402ST, imho a watch for real watch guy that are not there to show off, if you know you know!
Rolex should just cut the bs and just open up a pawn shop selling pre owned watches for 10-40% above retail. If you want to buy new you have to pay for it up front and wait 2 1/2 years to receive it. That’s what the market is now from what I understand. Minus the pay up front. I’d love to buy a submariner for less than $11k. But 14-15k. I’ll pass. With the super clones out there it makes it even more sketchy.

Daytona beside steel was an easy watch to get and steel could be 1-2K above retail in new condition. Two Tone slightly used Daytona was way bellow retail on secondary market. No one wanted it. White gold Daytona was 16-18K on leather in 2013-2014. Was not a popular choice because why would anyone pay almost double the price for the watch looking like steel.
Banks monitor watch exports for new watches. These reports are sold to clients. I doubt they are pulling these numbers out of their rear ends. What happens in the resale market is more likely to be “fly by night”.
