@@KaiserSoze679 that’s what style is about, wearing a watch that increases in price or making money? Why would you do that to yourself? Lose money as soon as you buy something? Completely agree with teddy's point there, watches as an investment is honestly just a myth collectors like to perpetuate. You really need to spend loads of money before being even considered for one of the more appreciable watches, and even then, if you do decide to sell you can forget any future prospects with that authorised dealer.. in some cases even other dealers if your name spreads as a seller.

It has a sapphire crystal, has been clumsily smashed into many metal door jambs, and still looks 9 on a 10 scale. 10 different straps & bracelets for it in various materials & colors allow me to stylize with an understated flare. I typically wear a Rolex on my left wrist, and the Apple on my right. I can't even imagine how much money Kevin lost, I don't know if I'd still buy luxury watches if I were to get my collection wiped out twice..... Kudos to both of you, great content!!
I totally understand where Teddy is coming from with respect to watches not necessarily being a great investment vehicle for everyone. What we are seeing here is differences in perspective between an industry professional and a pure collector. Jewelry and watch industry professionals, if they are being honest, will rarely recommend these products as investment vehicles. There are for sure better ways to allocate capital.
Hilarious... Kevin sounds like a little kid talking about baseball cards or his hot wheels or Star Wars collection, just with a slightly more adult and snobbish vocabulary. Kevin seemed super excited to make a new friend and talk toys. I would not have guessed the interview going that way. Very surprising. Very entertaining. Well done Teddy.

RickJason No offense but you obviously don't have a big enough collection to worry about this kind of stuff, so it doesn't apply to you. Once you start to hit 10 watches or more, that's when you would have to put most of it in the bank. Then you can simply keep 5 at the house for example, cycle through those, then go to the bank once in a while to switch them out for 5 other ones. It's so true to say it is very hard to 'monetize' your watch collection. I have a couple of steel Rolex's I bought as investments but, despite the prices you see online, the platforms take such a huge % that negates the profit of someone choosing to buy from me. Watch dealers look for margins around 45-55% (in my experience) and unless you are buying the sort of watches Kevin talks about - you ain't making any money on 10k watches.
Teddy, you're really killing it right now. Loving all these great interviews. Keep up the great work bud, cause the watch community is grateful for all the great content.
I think what's funny about this video, after going back to watch it again, is how you went in thinking you were going to have to fight Kevin, but both of you ended up having a lot more in common than you thought to the point you guys are doing videos together all the time. I can't believe how well it turned out!
Love how Kevin runs his brand through and through. Great marketer. Great video. Not a red band fan but respect commitment...and I kind of want one now.
Pretty good call when he said keeping certain ADs on as boutique only build-outs with AP owning 51%. He cited London Jewelers as an example. I just attended London's boutique opening, registered my name with them and bought a Royal Oak Chrono. Sales told me AP required it and owned 51% of it and that to continue selling AP, the AD would need to take a 49% risk in the venture to move forward. Lucky guess or did O'Leary know in advance?
Wondering why I was watching a video about watches. Then I realized this is a refreshing video without anything political or controversial. Teddy’s videos are just wholesome.
Kevin wasn't "speculating" about London Jewelers keeping their AP AD status by having a standalone AP boutique inside London Jewelers. He already knew that was the plan....which it is
Chances are, he probably had some insider information. But he is someone well-versed in business and heavily invested in the watch industry. I wouldn't be surprised if he knew that was going to be the case due to the "exclusivity" many brands want to create.
Definitely number 1 in the watch youtube community, you are making great progress. Looking at all of this makes me miss your first intro 🤣 At that time I thought I thought this was a fashion channel, Im glad I stayed all the way through. Congrats!
I get that watch "sickness" because is the chase of timeless pieces, the relationships that you build, etc. Great video, better than many movies right now
If someone broke into my house and found my watch collection, they'd probably just take the display case I bought on Amazon, and leave the watches...lol
I absolutely love RubberB and thank Mr. Wonderful for turning me on to them. As I write this comment, I have a Explorer II that has been PVD and has an orange RubberB band with the original deployment clasp on it. The watch is absolutely stunning and the integration of the band and case is so perfect that people have mistook the band as original.
Teddy, I think the difference is what you two are defining as an investment. Price of entry does not necessarily define "investment" and/or it doesnt for most people. Watches can certainly be an investment, just as comic books, cars, stocks, houses, baseball cards, or for that matter most anything else. But, someone had to be educated in what they are buying or else they are blowing money. So, my question is, what do you define as an investment?
Hey Ted, to be honest. This is one of the best, if not, the best, watch interview I've ever watched. Its a real discussion, full of agreement and disagreement from two persons who are knowledgeable about watches, the business, and its industry, rather than just nodding at each every opinion. Good stuf man! Subscribing
That alone shows he has no idea about the watches specs and has no real appreciation for what they are beyond their value. This guy is a truly grotesque watch collector(or whatever pretentious way he wants to say it)
I'm not so sure having your entire collection wiped out twice still constitutes it as an investment. I think Kevin given his popularity band propensity to talk about his "investments" would make him a target. His apartment in New York will have some watches in it, his house in Malibu will have some watches in it and his villa in France... Yup, watches.
TGV was a business move based on his subscribers alone. His viewers are into budget watches like Seiko 5 and metal G Shocks. His audience will never be what Watchbox is looking for. Fail.
I really truly do appreciate Kevin's passion for the watch and watchmaking industry. I also respect his stance on style. However I feel like 90% of the population who actually buys watches either doesn't know the first thing about investing or doesn't/can't afford to buy watches as investments. I personally collect solely in the budget
I love watches and fountain pens which will quite often also lead to interesting conversations when in business meetings. The pens fire up conversations more often than my watches do. I have a few nice pieces of both but can’t imagine collecting at the level of Kevin. I love his passion when talking about his collection and what fires him up.
Opposite to these guys, I love it when he said the term collection in French. It shows his passion. In life, you will go far when you truly believe in and have passion for something. This is a man of class.
Congrats teddy, if you have time please do a video about watches under 2k but over 40 mm. I also love your vintage watch videos but they are all so small that I cant wear them with a bigger wrist.
His point on smart watches missed with me. I get from the perspective of watch enthusiasts it might not make sense, but even I still wear a smart watch occasionally because they provide so much utility. A laptop also tanks in value when it walks out the store, but if you're using it for it's actual utility does that really matter? Smart watches are great for people who work out or do activities where they can't always have their phone near them. The utility makes the loss in value worth it. Just one of the things that bothered me a bit.
The dude is hilariously delusional. Literally every watches goes down in value the minutes after you bought it except for the very very few exceptions. And those watches are at the same price of a house or houses anyway.
I never liked watches till I start working at movado,I’m 18 and now in days people don’t really appreciate how unique watches are and now I found ur RUclips Chanel and vids like this make me get more into the watch world,it’s crazy

Hi Teddy. I must admit I haven’t been a fan of your videos so far. Then I have seen the interview and both shopping videos with Kevin O’Leary. And the interview with Omega’s CEO. All in the past days, and I am really impressed. More than that. Especially the videos with Kevin have been exceptionally fantastic, I think not only me but many enthusiastic watch collectors, specially those who are truly interested in deeper knowledge of watches could spend hours watching you guys talk about watches. The questions you ask are really well thought and not necessarily the ones every other “watch guy” on RUclips is asking. Kevin is also a very exceptional personality and watch collector. And I say that having seen many other guys talking watches in somebody else’s RUclips channel. Not even near the way you talk watches. Very well done.
He’s passionate about watches and has tons of money. Who cares. If you had the money that he had you would probably be the same way. Extreme amounts of money and wealth can and will change most people.

@@ivan6navi hey, my Casio calculator watch still hits hard.
Stumbled across this video, one of the most interesting watch videos I’ve seen. And I’ve watched a ton of them. Kevin is a wealth of knowledge
"If you put an apple watch on your wrist you're probably going to burn in hell" - Kevin O' Leary
😂😂😂
Love it
Kevin O'Leary - Apple Watch - burn in hell 😂 - he said it here amigos.
@ I actually thought the same...
@John Smith I have tried the Apple Watch, but after 2 weeks you're over it, it is as Apple say themselves, an iPhone accessory...
Fascinating interview. You handled it very well, Kevin is knowledgeable and funny.
Having a red band on every single watch is bizarre. That's his taste and thats fine but nothing stylish about it.
Kevin is a Piru Blood from Compton
its because of shark tank, they make him wear one color band.
Agreed. It's an 8 year olds approach to 'style' 😂
I think it looks sweet, personally.
Style is way more subjective than you’re making it out to be.
“I’m investing in my desire to own this” is a phrase I will definitely be using in the future.
Very polite Mr Teddy, the way you corrected his "nitrogen relase valve" comment :) Just state the correct answer and move on...
I have no idea how you got Mr. Wondeful to do an interview with you. I have been watching the Shark Tank show on CNBC for years.
Love how Kevin runs his brand through and through. Great marketer. Great video. Not a red band fan but respect commitment...and I kind of want one now.
Teddy, your most recent content has hit it out of the park! Looking forward to what's coming up.
Love hearing Kevin's passion in discussing watches. I don't necessarily agree with all of his style points, but it is undeniably unique and an image.
Very interesting! I am sure he got some insight being a high volume buyer
Congrats!
I talked Watches from the beginning but watches became the only focus over time. Thanks for sticking with me!
I get that watch "sickness" because is the chase of timeless pieces, the relationships that you build, etc. Great video, better than many movies right now
If someone broke into my house and found my watch collection, they'd probably just take the display case I bought on Amazon, and leave the watches...lol
😂 same
I've never cared much for Kevin, but I do luv his passion & enthusiasm for watches.
Well done Teddy!
I remember when Teddy had 30 Subscribers, a long way ever since. Great investor providing excellent content.
Great discussion. Really thought Kevin would go AP over Rolex but not surprised he picked profits over brand appreciation.
I love Kevin's passion for his collection, the industry, and collecting. Great interview.
I can’t remember the last time I watched a 42 minute RUclips video, good video Ted!
The longest video I watched was Avengers Endgame
"Watches need a safe", from the guy who got his entire collection stolen twice
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me and I buy a safe 😏
A safe and an AK to guard the safe 😉🤫🤷🏽♂️
Teddy is a heavyweight now. Learned a ton from this. Big future ahead Teddy!
There is no need to cut these videos. This is so much fun to watch 😊
Subscribing
This teddy is slowly building a powerful watch channel. TGV had better watch out. I’m very impressed Teddy.
Teddy is way better than TGV any day of the week!
@@Ferien7 I think both Teddy and TGV can appreciate a watch at any price point, unlike Kevin here who would scoff at a watch under 1k
The nitrogen release valve LMFAO
Baba Ganoush it’s hydrogen right? lol
@@tm55555 Usually Helium but also Hydrogen. Hydrox en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrox_(breathing_gas)
Maybe in another planet...
Scrolled all the way here to see if someone caught it... Teddy was quick to correct it though.... the way he did it LMFAO
That alone shows he has no idea about the watches specs and has no real appreciation for what they are beyond their value. This guy is a truly grotesque watch collector(or whatever pretentious way he wants to say it)
Kevin is like the ‘Dad’ of the business world. Love listening to him.
Watchbox should have recruited Teddy. He is crushing the RUclips watchgame 😎😎😎😎
I like my independence haha.
@Kwenz Landah aka a rodent
TGV was a business move based on his subscribers alone. His viewers are into budget watches like Seiko 5 and metal G Shocks. His audience will never be what Watchbox is looking for. Fail.
@@iclogtoilets3483 time proved your comment right.
The scariest shark has entered our tank here on Teddy's channel 😂
Andrewshadowy Lol we have dragons den up in Canada too eh 🇨🇦
The Rolex Daytona looks absolutely amazing... I’m so getting one
*looks up base model price*
fuck
Good luck at that
40 mm is tiny in my view, that’s why I wouldn’t buy a Rolex. A 45.6mm omega seamaster ,now that’s more like it ,at half the price.!!
Congrats teddy, if you have time please do a video about watches under 2k but over 40 mm. I also love your vintage watch videos but they are all so small that I cant wear them with a bigger wrist.
I haven’t done much for watches for a larger wrist so that could be fun!
WatchMe Unboxing yeah I a big fan of the Oris sixty five blue dial cream markers. I also like the Longines legend diver in that price range.
Definitely, my dream watch is the 45.6 mm omega seamaster. Just need to find £7500.
Good video but I'm glad Teddy is down to earth. Kevin is so disconnected from reality it's ridiculous.
Not his reality he isn’t.
And those watches are at the same price of a house or houses anyway.
how?
I never liked watches till I start working at movado,I’m 18 and now in days people don’t really appreciate how unique watches are and now I found ur RUclips Chanel and vids like this make me get more into the watch world,it’s crazy
Teddy this was such a good conversation about the industry. Have you considered doing an update with Kevin?
I dunno, I think Kevin talking about people having “no souls” is a little ironic.
If billionaires had souls they'd give so much stock to employees that they'd no longer be billionaires. Really tho anybody who puts a red strap on a hulk is a psychopath.
I’m surprised Mr. Wonderful hasn’t hear of safety deposit boxes! Good video Teddy!
I heard someone say that if they go missing from a safety deposit box, they are not insured. Still safer then having them at home
Hodinkee: lets bring John Mayer back for Talking Watches
Teddy: imma bout to end this channels career
By far, an interesting video that I wish was longer!
That rounded AP with the red alligator band is wonderful. I love it
Whatever anyone might think of Kevin, I doubt there is a single person in the world who wants their children to grow up to be like him
Facts
Why is that?
Why.
He’s passionate about watches and has tons of money. Who cares. If you had the money that he had you would probably be the same way. Extreme amounts of money and wealth can and will change most people.
Man Teddy looks like a taller Tom Holland.
Teddy, I was so impressed with how you conducted this conversation. You were an excellent host and really did a fine job with Kevin and the topic as a whole. Congratulations! I think you have a future in this!
Great collection. I really enjoyed the video. His comments on Smart Watches are spot on. Thanx
The red alligator on that AP was gorgeous in my opinion. Absolutely stunning piece.
I LOVE RED TOO. BUT C'MON MAN !! REMOVE MY ROLEX BAND FOR RED RUBBER ???? 🤔🤔 NO !!!
Ikr!? Makes that Hulk look tacky as fuck...
Teddy, this is by far the most enjoyable video I have watched (about watches) in the last 3 or 4 months (I follow you and some 6 or 7 other watch enthusiasts with youtube channels). Really great work interviewing Kevin O'Leary. This video should have triple the views it has today. Just great work!!! Thanks :)
LOL. The style industry will get a collective heart attack if they hear Kevin saying those 3 red elements on the same black suit makes him look spectacularly stylish.
Ikr
Honestly, I think it works.
Is there a video about how to get into watches?
Teddy got my subscription simply because he knows his stuff.
