Honorable mention for me is burlap sack for backpacks and for ghillie suits, and a gas stove - combining it with gas canister and cooking pot doesn't take any extra slots and you can cook anywhere instantly, love it.
@@yashpatel1460 gas canister has a chance to blow up if it gets ruined from bullet damage if that piece of clothing gets shot. It's a chance thing. I've gotten my last 2 jackets ruined in gun fights and my badly damaged gas stove with a small gas canister hasn't gone off yet.
The burlap backpack is what I always loot. Even in end game I run it because it’s low profile and I’ve played long enough that I know what to drop and what to keep.
The best thing about the pot is that takes zero room in your inventory, since it takes the same amount of room as it has inside, and you can fill it with water even if it's full of items. I usually put repair items inside and place it in a quickslot. Find a quiet spot, drop it on the ground and fix everything.
Tip about the police stations and medical buildings. Not only checking the vehicles around these areas, but also check the buildings around them also, any building within 30 meters I believe has a chance of spawning items from those locations in them.
A bit late, but its a fact about this spawns. Devs made the loot zones (police, military, farm, civil etc.) by literally painting the map. Sometimes they just paint over not only the main police building, but other houses and cars too. So, sometimes its only the main police building, and sometimes its other buildings around it. So yeah, check other places around the main one(works for all types of special loot zones, not only police).
This is true I found tons of medical stuff, clothing, meds, and stuff in the buildings, cars and infected! The hospital didn’t have hardly anything 😅 I was shocked when I was moving from house to house for coverage to see so many goodies!

I wish you could layer clothing in DayZ for colder weather when you go more north. I always try to put on camo clothing to blend in more with my surroundings, but most military clothing only provides low-medium insulation.
Hunting clothes are some of the best clothes in my opinion as they mostly come in brown or camo and have the highest insulation for clothes (plus they’re not to heavy)
Another thing you should look out for is Garden Lime. This will help you get tanned leather from rawhides and can let you craft different clothes, a backpack, and my favorite: leather shelters
Been on a 12 hour run and yet haven't found a leather sewing kit. Lol last life I was passing them left and right and usually never not have one but this time when I'm doing super well with weapons and items I want to craft the leather backpack. Lol been walking around with taned hide in my cooking pot
Good vid. For me, the first item I would look for is a cutting tool. Even two stones can be made into knives and then used for fire making until a real knife in good condition is found.
Hey bro , never stop making these videos! They are so helpful and keep me and my friends informed on how to stay alive 🤣 your content is fire man , keep doing you !
I’d say the drysack as well. One time in a hardcore server, I died from hypothermia, because my matches were so damp that they wouldn’t light a fire. A drysack would’ve saved my life
I'm actually supriced there is NO mention of a knife here? As of late I have been keeping a rock on me, 1 slot for an emergency knife in case my knives go bad waxing zombies. Multivitamins are the fix all medicine(pill), no medical required to collect, take before drinking dirty water or eating raw fat/meat/guts in a pinch. For pvp sneaky bandaging, keep a disinfected bandana! Have to check since this last patch but you can bandage a cut silently with one of these! Good luck, and God speed.
You know, i never got a wound infection from using either bandages or rags. I go with the other guy too - gas stove and cooking pot/frying pan as a MUST. You can use the cooking pot / stove as a store, the cooking pot holds water AS WELL AS items, a d while the pot, stove and bottle take up a 12 slot (console) EACH, when combined they only take up a 12 Slot all TOGETHER and you can hide 12 slots of items - marvelous!!! And makes cooking on the run without too much light - fast and easy no lighter required.
If I am running a light weight character where I don't want to carry to much stuff or I don't have backpack, I will always choose rope over duct tape. Can make splint with it but can also make fishing rod if I'm starving. If I have lots of space I will carry both
Bones! Ultimate survival item for the fishing hooks and plenty of small ''working knives''. I always carry a stack of pristine cloth to craft the hand/feet wrapping, splint, bandages, rope etc..
My favourites are definitely gas stove and gas canisters (preferably large) because if you have a cooking pot, and you combine all of them together, they all take up literally no space because you can still fill the pot with water, and food!
I always pick up a single small stone. It takes only one slot and grants you an access to sharpen bones for a fishing hooks and bone knifes, making survival a lot easier
Tripwires and lockpicks. Big help as a solo being rushed. You can hear them when they trip. Grenades can take them out for you. The lockpick can prevent them from running to escape. Even just the tripping motion can give you an edge.
This is a great list. I’d add charcoal tabs and high or best insulation clothing. Also I dislike the tactical look for rp purposes but on namalsk I will wear a ballistic vest to increase my resilience. Lots of great info thank you.
Best 2 item you need for staying alive and full is a knife and sharping stone Side note for new players learn to make a fishing pole there’s a lot of lakes and spots to fish all over the map so you won’t starve
My first few days on this game I searched high and low for a water bottle. After about 40 hours in game searching several towns constantly i finally found one. The next day after finding the initial one I found 3 within 10 min in one town. It's cool that the loot table is totally random but 4 days straight as a new player without any water container is very very difficult. Now when my bottle says its severely damaged I turn it into a suppressor to get one last use of it before it's ruined and good for nothing.
Old guy chiming in! I've been robbed I don't know how many times, especially in early coastal towns. A TEDDY BEAR is a great item to put in your jacket and it holds 6 slots, so I often put my starting bandage & my best loose ammunition (example, as stack of .308 or 7.62mm) into the teddy. Robbers often skip the bear, looking for the obvious items elsewhere, like in the yellow protector cases. Similar to the cases, it protects what is stored inside, and I don't know if it is a developer oversite, but I've never had a my bears get ruined or what's inside them.
I started playing 1 week ago and by watching these videos I can now survive easier and play tactical against other players I tend to carry a few rags and disinfect them they always come in handy and any high caliber rounds I find I tend to try keep them or at least stash them in a wooden crate smash a tree down just before server restart where I know I won't lose then and after server restart the chest will be hidden within the tree
Not sure if anybody's done something like this already, but I'd LOVE to see some tips on concealment and safe places to rearrange your inventory and cook food and stuff. The last couple days I played I got headshot sorting loot in the big pine tree TWICE, and once at the top floor apartment of the restaurant/inn that's outside of some towns, places I thought I was pretty concealed. So far I've figured out that the small houses with a staircase at either door are decent places to make a fire, but otherwise I make a pretty easy target of myself.

decided to setup a solo server. zombie kills at 1500+ so far. the things i find really important are. 1: blood bags and saline solutions, set them up ready for immediate use. 2: weapon cleaning kits, the fouling of weapons in the game is highly unrealistic. a 22LR weapon can fire thousands of rounds before cleaning, in real life. centrefire rifles including military can fire hundreds of rounds prior to cleaning as well. 3: if you hear a wolf howl they will attack soon after. get to hunters stand, get on the roof of any car, elevation may save you while you shoot them. 4: an obvious one, grab anything you can find for carrying extra kit asap, you can refine what you need as you go along.
every item can make the difference between life in death. i recently had a situation when my team didnt had enougth lethersewing kits and rags and so we found ourself on deerisle at the entrence of kmuc with both shoes ruined and only 2 damaged feetwrap between 2 guys without shoes. we ended up not going into kmuc and trying to make it east and went half an hour without any boots without cltohes to make feetwraps until we finally found a 5 house village with 1 pair of prestine basic boots and clothes worth 10 rags. our lifes were safed
Whenever I go out I usually take a stack of rags and a stack of bones, rags are basically bandages and you can make shoes in case yours get ruined, and with a stack of bones you can make from 5 up to 10 bone knifes
Always having a bloodbag full already put together with iv start kit, and morphine , epinephrine, and codeine, have been saving me the most recently the blood bag the most as I’ve been playing on max pop servers only
Lighter for me. Matches work but getting wet is annoying. All the work involved with hand drills is also annoying. It takes up 1 slot and let's you light fires without having to craft. A pristine full lighter is treasure!
I'd also say always cast an eye over boonie hats; if they have a + there's a fish hook in it worth grabbing. Would also +1 sharpening stone, they're a must for keeping knives and axes in good condition. Knives in turn are also super valuable for opening tins of food without much loss, and for skinning/butchering animals.
Regarding Tetracycline - keep fed, hydrated and wear warm clothing and you never need it. This means early on putting on stupid clothing like the pea coat or quilted jacket but anything warm works. It also means a lot of the cool military clothes should be avoided. I favor the hunter's jacket and pants over everything. The military field jacket is also a great choice.
I have a hard time hitting shots especially under pressure, so I also take any ammo I find and when I find a matching caliber gun I spend it all to clear a village of any zombies and with one action I make it much easier to clear the area and train my aim.
I could see that! Good comment for sure. My thought was kind of as Blank was getting at, duct tape in place of sewing kit, with that said I always take sewing kits too. I think I was mostly trying to limit myself to 10 and the lighter had to fit in there :)
Find a little yellow case and put 4 bottle suppressors in there for sneaking missions. I do that before raids and usually do two cases if it’s a long raid.
Love your ever so helpful videos, Nitno. Thank you for making them. I have a question about boiling water. I haven't tried to do it yet in the game, but how do you know when the water is boiled enough to drink?

Hey thanks for that!
I have a hard time hitting shots especially under pressure, so I also take any ammo I find and when I find a matching caliber gun I spend it all to clear a village of any zombies and with one action I make it much easier to clear the area and train my aim.
Good thinking for sure! Aim practice!
"a simple hello" as requested 😉
😁 haha thank you! It really does help a lot!
Good list but I will say change the lighter out for a regular sewing kit would have made this a perfect list
No way the lighter is like gold, and duct tape serves the purpose of sewing kit 😋
I could see that! Good comment for sure. My thought was kind of as Blank was getting at, duct tape in place of sewing kit, with that said I always take sewing kits too. I think I was mostly trying to limit myself to 10 and the lighter had to fit in there :)
@@Nitno it’s a good point you made though for the modded maps that may have colder variants than the regular maps so you had your basis covered
Find a little yellow case and put 4 bottle suppressors in there for sneaking missions. I do that before raids and usually do two cases if it’s a long raid.
Excellent idea.
Thanks for your help tips
Anytime!
Love your ever so helpful videos, Nitno. Thank you for making them. I have a question about boiling water. I haven't tried to do it yet in the game, but how do you know when the water is boiled enough to drink?
Once it starts to bubble you should be good!
I know this might sound a dumb question, but is Tetra able to cure salmonella? (I ate with bloody hands). I got the game less than a week ago and I'm not very experienced, your videos are helping me out very much.
Only Charcoal tabs. Also get food/water levels up to white.
@@Nitno Thanks! I will keep that in mind.
And eat slow; only a few bites at a time until you get cured…
Great video, thanks
Anytime!
Thanks for the tips.
Anytime! Good luck out there
Hey , great vid nitno
Thanks James!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks alimoorad!
Nice video!
Appreciated!
I hold onto fry-pans for the extra storage space they give, don't often cook in them though!
Good thinking too
Dayz became the sewing simulator with the last update. So Duct Tape is propably the most useful item on this list right now
Good point, got to stay repaired
Nice tips!
Thanks for checking them out! Good luck out there!
