I grew up listening to CCR and so many other wonderful groups of the 60's and 70's. I still listen to the same songs along with a few later ones that I selectively added to my favorites. I'm retired now and spend a little time each day listening to music. Let's always keep the classic songs alive. Thanks and take care.
Actually, it was written 82 years ago by Huddie Ledbetter, better known as Lead Belly. There are many covers of this song. The best known versions of Cotton Fields are that of The Beach Boys as well as that of CCR.
@Pablo Guerrero. Exactly. This song was recorded in 1940 by Lead Belly. Several versions of this song have been recorded all these years, but my favorite is that of CCR.
This just randomly popped up while listening to my local radio. I'm not a "farm" or "ranch" person. I always grew up in a city. I was born after 2000. I generally don't like country music. I'm not even american, nor have visited a place similar to the one describe in this song. And yet, somehow, this song makes me feel at home
Anyone who Lived in the 60's and 70's would know this song was a folk FAVORITE!!!!! My sisters and I would have SO MUCH fun dancing to this when we were very small!!! While we were at my Aunt & Uncle's house in Virginia, My uncle found this song and played it. My Aunt & Uncle started dancing with my cousins and we all cheered them!!! Yup! My momma would play this for me and sing it to me when I was little in the 70’s. Momma went to be with the Lord in July. I miss her terribly. But, this brings great memories of her as a young woman.

It was my dogs’ favourite song. Every time I played it he would howl and yodel along with the song. I get teary eyed whenever I hear it. God I miss that dog.
Beautifully sung and played and says true things. For most of us, our Mothers rocked us in our cradles when we were babies, to make us sleep, and it is true if the cotton balls rot, you cannot get much cotton from them. One of my favorite songs this one is really worth to listen.
My favorite version of this song. When I was 4 yrs. old I helped my Grandfather pick cotton by hand, not a machine. That was in the early '60's. Wouldn't take all the money in the world for that experience and would do it again just to spend time with my Grandfather, as you can tell I loved my Grandfather very, very much. He was my best friend. There will never be another friend like that in my life.
I have been listening to CCR and this song since the late 60"s. I never get tired of them. I have just recently discovered there is no place in Louisiana that is a mile from Texarkana.

I used to sing this in mid 60's. I don't recall whose recording I was singing. Lead Belly wrote it in the 40's. Actually in high school quite often a group of us boys would sing it between classes. My grandpa and uncle raised cotton. That stuff could cut your fingers. About a month ago I was in Shreveport at food joint. This came on the PA. I and an older woman sang this song. Had a good time, laughing and cutting up.
Does it get any better. Remember hearing this for the first time at my cousin's house in 1969. We played it over and over for hours. Still touches my soul.
You poor soul. 😉 I first learned this song along with another Huddie William Ledbetter song Boil Weavil in 1959 in 1st grade in Kentucky. Guess I at least had a better musical education. 😁 As Brown versus the Borad of Education of Topeka Kansas had not reached Kentucky at this time, it would seem that my white school would be one that would not have been teaching songs written by a Black Man, go figure. 🤔
Huddie Ledbetter was my idol when i was young, carl perkins too but huddy was a blues man who sometimes plays folks and country. That's why I love him.....John Fogerty
I remember being at an important exam back in 1970. I was nervous and this wasn`t helped by the fact that I was suffering a complete blank. Suddenly this song sprang into my mind. I started to relax and this lead to me to remembering the necessary info to get through the exam. Since then I´ve been a strong fan.
The blessing from Above that is Music is that the world around could be crashing down, but with a cherished song, there may be tears in the eyes, yet a smile on the face. 😂. Miss ya Mom.
When I came back to the states from Korea on a slow ship this was the only record they had and played it 24. 7. for 18 days and nights and amazing i still love it

So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song. How are you?
I used to sing this in mid 60's. I don't recall whose recording I was singing. Lead Belly wrote it in the 40's. Actually in high school quite often a group of us boys would sing it between classes. My grandpa and uncle raised cotton. That stuff could cut your fingers.
About a month ago I was in Shreveport at food joint. This came on the PA. I and an older woman sang this song. Had a good time, laughing and cutting up.
even in 2019 this song will never die
2091
Exelente, gratos recuerdos, por siempre Credence
Yeah never never die
Does it get any better. Remember hearing this for the first time at my cousin's house in 1969. We played it over and over for hours. Still touches my soul.
You poor soul. 😉
I first learned this song along with another Huddie William Ledbetter song Boil Weavil in 1959 in 1st grade in Kentucky.
Guess I at least had a better musical education. 😁
As Brown versus the Borad of Education of Topeka Kansas had not reached Kentucky at this time, it would seem that my white school would be one that would not have been teaching songs written by a Black Man, go figure. 🤔
Just saw John Fogerty and ZZ Top at an outdoor concert and he still rocks those tunes and to a sell out crowd of that generation,it was A-Mazing!
Hey: Good Music NEVER dies. Listen to Chris Stapleton.... That's TODAYS CCR... People will still be listening to Chris in 50 years time (Same as CCR)
CCR was good. Will always reminds me of my late husband🤗❤️Thank you🙏
I don't know what our youths feel above this song, but at the age of 68, I still listen to this sweet song.
Una de las mejores canciones, siempre la pongo cuando voy manejando. La primera vez que la oí casi llore. Casi 2020 y sigue en mi playlist.
Are you still there
Don Ramón me trajo aquí 😂
Huddie Ledbetter was my idol when i was young, carl perkins too but huddy was a blues man who sometimes plays folks and country. That's why I love him.....John Fogerty
I remember being at an important exam back in 1970. I was nervous and this wasn`t helped by the fact that I was suffering a complete blank. Suddenly this song sprang into my mind. I started to relax and this lead to me to remembering the necessary info to get through the exam. Since then I´ve been a strong fan.
CCR music has the same effect on me! 😊
오래됀네요세삼스럼네요.옛날많이듣고.시시알넘조아요.지금도마음이찡하네요.사랑해요.보고십어요❤❤❤❤❤❤
The blessing from Above that is Music is that the world around could be crashing down, but with a cherished song, there may be tears in the eyes, yet a smile on the face. 😂. Miss ya Mom.
When I came back to the states from Korea on a slow ship this was the only record they had and played it 24. 7. for 18 days and nights and amazing i still love it
Chuckles....
One of the classics from the 70s
1960s
I found a Jordanaires rendition that went back to 1961. The song has been around, but CCR does a fine job with it. Love it!
It was a hit in the US by The Highwaymen in 1962.
When music and times were good! Ahh
and women were proper and beautiful.
Perfektní.
Mantap
Mmm i dont know, vietnam, richard nixon, kennedy death and woodstock
Yes. Really good
CCR ONE OF BEST MUSIC OF ALL TIMES
WILL NEVER BE FORGATEN

Thanks for sharing this video. Fantastic 😊
Time to remember the old days 😁
By far the best version of this classic, Willie and the poor boys was played to death in my youth, just love this band
Yes, it was. Also in other countries. Like Poland, where I grew up. CCR was a reason to go to the States, a reason as good as any other.
John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty✝, Stu Cook, Doug Clifford. CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL!
I will love you forever guys.
I still remember this song,my n my dad´s fav one...got back memories....
WE have '' de-generated '' from the true , true DEFINITION of '' music '' . Today, it is all, just random noise. You and I ...cannot dance/sing/nor humm along, with it. Noise,,,,,,,white/black/any color.....you name it.
I love this song ! It popped into my head & I just had to sing it! It’s an old song from way back in “the day”
