Fun fact: Jeremy Irons didn't really have the vocal range to handle all of the song "Be Prepared", so Jim Cummings (also the voice of Ed) takes over as Scar from the line "You won't get a sniff without me!" to the end of the song.

🎶 "Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared... Be Prepared!" 🎶
Fun Fact: The best-selling home video of all time, with more than 55 million copies sold to date.
Lion's Roar Fact: Frank Welker provided all the lion roars. Not a single recording of an actual lion roaring was used because the producers wanted specific sounding roars for each lion.
Method Actor Fact: While recording the scene where Simba gets pinned down by Nala (Niketa Calame-Harris), Jonathan Taylor Thomas was hit on his back to make it sound like he had just gotten the wind knocked out of him.
Royal Connections Fact: This is the second film in which James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair perform together as an African King and Queen. Jones and Sinclair were also King and Queen of a fictional African nation in Coming To America (1988).
Music Enthusiast Fact: A few weeks before the film opened, Sir Elton John was given a special screening. Noticing that the film's love song had been left out, he successfully lobbied Jeffrey Katzenberg to have the song put back in. Later, Can You Feel The Love Tonight (1994) won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Scar was a perfect example of why some people aren’t meant to be in charge. Mufasa understood that to maintain the beauty and bounty of the Pride Lands, there must be balance. Scar let his greed and lust for power throw off that balance by over hunting and letting the hyenas run wild, which drove away many of the animals, which threw off the balance of the ecosystem and turned the Pride Lands into a wasteland. It showed that Scar was a terrible leader because he doesn’t think about his subjects and only about himself. Simba, however, learned the lessons his father taught him, which is why he returned balance to the Pride Lands by driving away the hyenas and letting the ecosystem return to normal.

This movie fucked me up when I was a kid specifically Mufasa‘s death. I remember I first saw it at my grandmothers house I watched it on VHS and I cried like a baby over the death of Mufasa. And to make matters worse it was on Christmas Eve like I was not OK after that. Like this movie was one of my very first exposure to childhood trauma 😂 I have a hard time deciding which Disney movie is the saddest the lion king or Bambi.

3:54 Shout out to Hercules, years later! 😂
    4:25 SUCH a parent line! 😂
25:45 My parents declared Rafiki as their spirit animal after this movie! Can you blame them? 😊
28:00 The hyenas may as well have been locusts. Once Scar gave them free reign, they consumed everything they could. 😢
28:32 Hilarious and wonderful improv! 🤣
32:39 As much as Ed has been presented as the clown of the trio, this moment suggests that he might actually be the most dangerous. He doesn’t need words to convey his message.
32:52 And to think, Disney was originally considering killing Gaston in a similar manner. Kind of glad they didn’t, even if being devoured by beasts he used to hunt would have been poetically ironic.
Be Prepared is definitely one of Disney’s greatest villain songs. Right up there with Hellfire.
No matter how many times I watch this movie, The Stampede and Mufasa’s murder always give me serious chills. The combination of the music and the terrifying situation just work perfectly together. But now that I’m older, it’s the actual murder that really gets to me, now that I can pick up more of the nuances.
Up until now, Scar was unwilling to *personally* get his hands dirty, which is why he staged both the stampede and the visit to the elephant graveyard. And you can see him thinking it over as he looks down on Mufasa, struggling and begging for his life. That’s when the true depths of Scar’s cruelty show themselves: he gives Mufasa the tiniest glimmer of hope by grabbing him, just so he can personally see the despair in his brother’s eyes. “Long live the king.” Anyone who doesn’t cry or have nightmares after this doesn’t have a soul.

Amazing reaction! I really would love to react to the rest of the franchise! I’d do it in this order: The Lion King, The Lion King 1 1/2, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, and The Lion King Live Action. There is a tv series called The Lion Guard, which follows Simba and Nala’s second born Kion as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard and protect the Pridelands from their enemies; it takes place during The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and not long after its ending. Also here’s some trivia; Hyenas are actually part of the feline family and a clan of hyenas are led by a female. Yes the lionesses in a pride to the hunting. There’s usually 2 adult males in a pride, one being the alpha and the other beta. Also in the original storyline, they actually had planned for Scar to find Simba besides Mufasa in distraught. Scar would pick him up by the mouth and attempt to kill him. Only to be interrupted by Sarabi and the lionesses, and they would’ve thought Scar had saved him. Simba would grow with Scar being his adviser. However, the production team thought it would best for him to run away in shame, so he’d be more humble and actually grew up from his carefree life style to take his place. 🦁💛🧡❤️🖤

The sequel was straight to DVD I believe but Lion King 2 Simba's pride is very cute and I know one and a half went straight to DVD. That's basically something that should have just been on Disney channel. It's Timon and pumba basically saying what they were doing through all the parts of the first movie when they weren't with Simba and a little bit about where our boy Timon came from and if you've watched me or cat manner he was lucky to survive to adulthood cuz they will mark you especially as a baby for no damn reason. I hear even in zoos when it's not a matter of food or anything like that. The family will usually off children, especially if they're from subordinate females

Which compliments the best character ever, Mufasa, so well. Mufasa is the one we love and look up to, Scar is the villain that every body loves ..... to hate......

As for me it’s funny I didn’t like him in this movie, then I fell in love with him in the second movie 😂😭 I had to swallow my pride and say yeah scar is fire!!
