We choose to go to the Mun three times in a single mission not because it is easy, nor necessarily because it's hard, but mostly because the end of the fiscal year has snuck up on us and if we don't spend all our budget they'll reduce it next year!
This is made much easier by the fact that Mun is tidally locked, if you use the same trajectory you'll land at almost the same spot each time. In one of my games I built a Mun base at about the same location.
Seriously. All those stages show how much you mastered the game. 1st landing shows you can create massive, functioning rockets with incredible delta-v. The last landing shows that you can create incredibly small but efficient crafts that can go far without the need of raw power. Great video as always.
I mean, on the last launch from kerbin, if you would build that and put it at the launching sute you might think, this is nlt enough for sure, but this man manages to pool off with such a small stage, so many quickloads and testing have been done to make this video... Thats why it takes him so much to upload. But its amazing, hazardish, if you are readibg, keep up the great work. I just dont knlw how you manage to impress me everytime, you should consider making a pro rocket building tutorial guide, because you, sir, have some really creative ideas :)
Bush_Man15 Keep trying. The first attempt at anything is always the most challenging in KSP, but it gets much easier after that. I've landed on Duna only 3 times, and while my first rocket weighed in at well over 500 tons, my third rocket was only 100 tons, with a lander that almost proved to be reusable.
His 3.6t Eeloo rocket was imho much smaller on the launchpad than the rocket used for the third launch. BTW it's even possible to go to the Mun and back under 3t.
idk. on one hand, it is obviously much more efficient. on the other hand, for one the engine mass is much higher, which really matters with such a tiny craft. also, it'd really only be useful on the very last trip, any rocket before would be too massive, and it's useless for taking off from kerbin again.
