  • Unfortunately the lovely hotel we stayed at Galleria Beirut, closed down, but you can see we had such a great time in our robes with our breakfast! We spent the day In Byblos trying to find the infamous nightlife however we did not succeed, probably because we were there in winter but nevertheless we made it work

    The best places to go for night life in the winter around Beirut are in Mar Mikhael and Badaro area.
    Outdoor bars and all the beachclubs (Iris, Caprice, Fabrk, Deece, Palm Beach House, Boha, Bluebay etc...) are mainly a summer destination. Byblos/Jbeil is an amazing place, especially in Summer with the beach life and outdoor style partying at night.
    And if you are passionate about ancient history like I am, you will find items and ruins dating from the Phoenician and Egyptian periods (2nd and 3rd millenium BC), Greco Roman (3rd century AD), Crusade (12th century AD), Mamluk (17th century AD), and also a fossils place.
    The name for the Bible comes from Byblos. The phoenician alphabet was born here, cultures like the Greeks, the Romans, the Arameans (where Hebrew and Arabic alphabet come from) used it to make their own alphabet which we use to this day.
    Guys, Thank you, your photography and storytelling is awesome. I hope you do comeback to Byblos in the summer time.

Maybe even visit one of the oldest wineries in the world. Ksara and many others. You think France have old vineyards, they are teenagers compared to middle east vineyards.

    hi guys , allow me please to point at a very tiny detail .. the ruins nearby the fortress are Phoenicians' not Romans .. this was the first ever temple of Astrate ( daughter of EL whose name is part of GEB-EL ( Byblos ) ) ..this was temple visited by the Phoenicians and the Egyptians .. more than 3000 obelysks offered by Egytian kings to Astrate the mistress of War and fertility . Byblos was once the economic and religious capital of Egypt .. the first ever who ruled Egypt was MISOR ( a phoenician from the family of Kabirim ( nobles ) of Byblos , he built the first and biggest pyramid in Egypt ) the Kabirim ruled Egypt( Egypt comes from Hephaestus-ftah means the conqueror and Misor is his name in Phoenician whose name is given to Egypt in Arabic ) . the Phoenicians ruled Egypt until the 6th or 7th dynasty until when they were kicked out of Egypt , that is why you can notice that all sphynxes in Egypt have their noses broken , because they Egyptians did it to their Sphynx as a way to humiliate them ) .. this explains why we can find pyramids in Americas where only the Phoenicians could reach because they were the only old civilization to sail .. the oldest inhabited city in the history is a battle between Byblos and Damascus and Jericho .. but these 3 cities were all inhabited by the Phoenician canaanites of Lebanon ... the oldest ever temple built by humans was Baalbeck in Lebanon 🙏

    • @lebanonthehostbecamethehos2904
      @lebanonthehostbecamethehos2904 Год назад +1

      @@depreciatingasset that's completely untrue , in fact Napoleon invested in these archeological site , he sent experts from France to Egypt and to Lebanon , they were the first who came to mention these old civilizations .. according to Manetho ( the oldest and most important Egyptian Historian ) , the first ruler of Egypt was an invador ( in Egyptian FTAH ) he mentions all the Egyptian Pharaohs who ruled over Egypt except the 7 dinasties ( who were canaanite Phoenicians ) and who the Egyptians kicked out of Egypt .. and ignores later on the list of HYKSOS who came back to rule Egypt ( HYKSOS is the Egyptian name given by the egyptians to the canaanite Phoenicians who came back around 2500 BC to rule Egypt once again - HYKSOS means rapers because they hated the Canaanite Phoenicians , and then destroyed their capital and used all its stones to build what we know now Cairo ) ... King Ramses kicked the last Canaanite Pharaoh even though he named his daughter after ANATH ( who was the first canaanite Phoenician woman the commander in chief of an army ( she was the daughter of Cronos EL from the family of the Kabirim in Lebanon )... however , thank you for the info , i will give it another check to see where these information come from , according to mine theiy re different 🙏

      for references Dr Sanford Holst ( Harvard ) - Manetho ( AEGYPTIACA ( Oxford ) egytpian historian ) Herodotus ( the Greek ) - artifacts found in Egypt for Thot ( son of Misor ) who wrote a dedication to Baalat Gebel - Phoenician expedtion and Egyptian expedition by Maurice Dunand and many others

    The bit about the alphabet. It is the home of all alphabet. Humans used pictography before. 1st alphabet type writing ever. Also, byblos was a center for papermaking. Bibliography, bible etc. comes from the name of this city, Byblos.

    You actually came in the few days that were hot. Winter is usually all rain and thunder, that's why it doesn't make much economic sense for the beach bars to open on the few sunny (or hot) days of winter. You also missed going to the bar streets (badaro, mar mikhael..) or any nighclub that are packed during weekends.

    That being Said, if you do ever return in the summertime I would recommend going to the Chouf, to Saida, to Jezzine to see the Middle East’s biggest pine forest and to Sour (it’s hands down the most beautiful sandy beach in Lebanon)

    You guys should definitively ask for a local to point you the good adresses... you went through jounieh but did not visit the center of jounieh, old street, marke, as for byblos you had so many choices for meat lovers at leat have a malak al taouk on the go...
    definitively have to try a real mezza, there is so much to taste in lebanon other than pasta and pizza... head to kabab ji anywhere in lebanon and order 20 platters to have a real taste of a lebanese mezze, (i assure you you will eat them all) then continue to hallab or l'abeille d'or for some outstanding pastries, mountains vibes are also so nice, especially old villages. enjoy your stay
