I’m a hairstylist. I have many clients who are into pageants. I’ve participated and gone to many pageant from Miss America (Atlantic City) to Miss USA and Universe to local events. Very impress with your content and have been a subscriber for many yrs. I always refer my pageant clients to your site. Your attention to helping these girls are commendable. Luv luv your channel. Are u going to cover the Miss Grand International, looking forward to your analysis. Aloha and good day
Thank you for this video. My 12-year-old daughter is competing in her middle school pageant, and when we started looking at dresses, she wanted a dress similar to that applique dress. My daughter and I are like oil and water. She is a girly-girl. I am a tomboy. She is a fashionista. I can barely put together an outfit. She loves to do hair and makeup. I side-part my hair on special occasions. (And these things are what make her so special and lovely). That said, even I had seen that applique dress over and over again, and I had to explain to her that that dress is what everyone else will wear. And because there are so many versions of this, it is a great dress when on a budget, because it is so mass produced. (For those who are on a budget, these "overly" done dresses, seem like good options for that reason.) Long story short, we went with a used (thank you Poshmark), princess cut gown with a halter strap neckline in a Tiffany blue color, and a lot of tulle. My daughter looks like a beautiful, frosted cupcake, but the dress is actually easy to move around in and she's comfortable wearing it. Thank you for your videos. They are very helpful as we experiment with pageants. I also show her your videos as proof that some of the dresses are overused.
You're so welcome! Glad she has a mom that can spot a mass produced gown! Poshmark is great, but you should be able to find even better resale options on the Queenly app
@@DaniWalker Thank you. I’ll check that site out. I also discovered a formal wear consignment store less than an hour from where I live. Never knew those existed, but it pays to research. This is her first real pageant. If she likes it, we will be checking out queenly.
Dani, this is going to sound from far out in left field, I’m sure. But I wish you could do some kind of masterclass for people who want to get into pageant judging and network, how to do it, all your tips, etc. I would just LOVE to learn from you ❤
Im happy you included childrens dresses in this as well. My daughter saw that ombre dress and wanted it but for the same reason you listed, I refrained from getting it. Can you do more what to do/not to do for children's pageants?
Love this! Always looking to see what new dress to buy and definitely saw a favorite on your list lol but I didn't see my current dress so I'll stick to it. Don't fix what isn't broken :]
In Mexico, evening gowns are the contestants Achilles heel. Every time a Mexican candidate competes in Miss Universe or in any pageant, the dress is either horrible or beautiful, there is no middle ground. Some fans complain that some candidates wear simple dresses for the preliminary competition because they wanted it to be a "Surprise" in the evening gown competition, or they wear the most spectacular dresses for photo shoots as state or national queens, events, the after party of the international pageant if they fail enter to the finalists.
That's tricky because there's so many factors that go into that. You have to consider the system, division, as well as all the contestant's personal attributes like hair color, skin tone, body type, height, etc. One gown I'd suggest for one contestant is something I'd caution another not to wear.
Can't do that one. Hair depends on the gown, hairstyle, age division and contestants features. It's a very personalized decisions with unique factors. There's no "rules" when it comes to that.
Here's one dedicated to jr. teens and teens. I need to create an episode for Miss, which is difficult because appropriate gowns vary greatly depending on the pageant system.ruclips.net/video/pZi_od29UNU/видео.html
Dani i am sorry, i have this question would it be a good idea to wear a Ball Gown to a pageant evening gown section? i mean think very puffy with crinoline type ball gown, beauty and the beast, think Cinderella is that gown shape advisable in pageants? I don't see it at all
Ballgowns are typically worn by young contestants, teen and younger. It's very rare to see a Miss contestant win in a ballgown. Ballgown styles are usually seen on ages 15 or younger. 15+ you'll start seeing a wider variety of silhouettes.
I actually make all of my evening dresses and occasionally outfits for other competitions in the pageant so I haven't seen anyone wear something the same 😆
Many other gowns are available besides these 10 styles. Sherri Hill alone produces over 300 off-the-rack styles each season. Plus you don't have to wear a a current style. You can also purchase custom or buy resale from a site like Queenly.
CA USA 2022 won in that Jovani gown at 7:40. It’s so though because while I think that gown is so beautiful Jovani has made so many different colors of it and made me sick of it REAL FAST
Similar coloring but actually a different gown. Tiffany's gown was a long sleeve style and she removed the sleeves. It also had a different beading pattern that contoured her waist.
I think the way to select a dress 4 a woman is the should make the dress but the dress doesn't make them they need to wear something why not wear something basic😊
If you like this episode I think you'll find these other one's helpful as well >>> bit.ly/3gP7a9j Good luck at your competition!!

You made a great choice. I rarely do children's episodes because they perform poorly in comparison to highly requested episodes for Miss divisions.
Love this! Always looking to see what new dress to buy and definitely saw a favorite on your list lol but I didn't see my current dress so I'll stick to it. Don't fix what isn't broken :]
Oh I'm glad it wasn't on the list!

One shoulder dresses, like the blue, but with only one cape like shoulder piece, is too common as well, correct?
lol I definitely wore that Portia & Scarlett dress in the blue!!!!
Blue is the color I've seen it in the most.
Love this! Would also love to see gowns you should buy.

Please do a video about having your hair up or down in gown, just hairstyles in general, what styles to avoid, etc.

Agree that these 10 gowns are rather overused. And i hope your voice recovers by the next video :)
Me too! This is actually improved. It was completely gone earlier in the week. I need to rest.
Dani do you have a video of what dresses would be best to look for??
Here's one dedicated to jr. teens and teens. I need to create an episode for Miss, which is difficult because appropriate gowns vary greatly depending on the pageant system.ruclips.net/video/pZi_od29UNU/видео.html
what are you thoughts for red lipstick 💄 for state competition
Depends on the age, pageant system and if red looks best on the contestant with her wardrobe.

You’re talented! 😊
@@DaniWalker Thank you!
Hello Dani, love love watching your vids. But can I ask what camera you use to shoot? The focus is distracting :(
I'm not sure what happened. It's a sony ZV1
Not sure what we are supposed to choose from (thats affordable) when that's all that's available at most boutiques.

“Because everyone else is wearing it” LOL
Dany when will you release your top headshots?

I think the way to select a dress 4 a woman is the should make the dress but the dress doesn't make them they need to wear something why not wear something basic😊
