I've only seen these meal prep services only be valuable for really high income people. It's not only because they can easily afford it but because of money lost by devoting time to their own meal prep. They reach a point where you can't afford to stop to do stuff yourself but that's for very rare people. Most of us would be harmed financially for this level of convenience lol

@@JcruzFit yea I agree... Can make lunch for 5 days for about 15 bucks... 3 pounds of ground chicken and a large can of green beans. Simple, easy, and good.

    • @fragout9575
      @fragout9575 Год назад +17

@@JcruzFit it's subjective and relative to your time plus finances. Most ppl still run to fast food options for lunch and dinner and quickly spend $15 to $20 per meal on a good day! And every now and then, "splurge" for Chipotle or something similar to be "healthy"... So all in all, you still spend about the same and end up with more calories and even worse health by the end of it all. Yes, I agree homemade food prep is the best way to go, as long as you have that time to prep and the ability to have a large variety of meals to make it past two or three days and don't give in to fast food options.
Just a humble opinion from personal experience.
And as a side note, like Hello Fresh, which owns Factor, you can change and/or pause or cancel services at any time as well.

Nice review. Just moved to a new condo and noticed a lot of Factor boxes in the mail room so I decided to look into it. As a frugal fitness dude, it's hard to justify. Been getting 5 pound pack of chicken breast under $20, brown rice for a few bucks and veggies. I can meal prep 10 meals for about $30-$40 bucks. That said, it's hard to beat the variety and convenient of these services. Great video.

I do the same with beef/fish/ chicken/rice veggies, I think these companies would be a lot more successful if they didn’t gatekeep decent prices per meal exclusive to large quantities. I can meal prep most my meals but if I could use them for let’s say 6 meals a week at 5-8$ p/m as just a filler for variation or when I’m in a pinch I would totally do it. But if you get low quantity they charge you like 15$ which is basically just go to a damn restaurant at that price. Doesn’t make sense

I’ve now decided that I will get bum MF 12 pack only use them for dinner meals(stretch them out for two weeks; buy one first week of the month and second one on the second week of the month). Lunch and breakfast I can get myself. And my budget will be around what I spend on buying prep food anyways. Really appreciate the review. Hate to admit I’m too lazy to prep dinner food. When you’re single it gets so old and expensive and unhealthy to eat out 5-6 times a week. I think this is going to work out much better for me. The other brand you were reviewing looked like bigger portions? I might give it a try after my month of Factor. I heated up the oven to 375 and cooked mine for 9 minutes and it was perfect tasting. I’m sure it’s still good in the microwave, but I think food re heated tastes better out of the oven. Thanks again and Subbed !

Ive tried both and liked both for different reasons. Factor does feel a little bit more like going out to eat whereas MF is definitely more basic but with better macros. I like usually go for MF because they're also more freezer friendly so I can stock up and grab some whenever I feel too lazy to meal prep or just want a day of variety from what I made. That being said it can be a hard to reconcile that $14 MF steak and rice bowl that I could have made for at least half that and thats kinda true for a lot of their meals.

I've had just about 20 meals of each, and I feel much more satisfied with Megafit's meals despite the lower calorie count. I also never had a "bad" Megafit meal, but there were a couple Factor meals I would definitely never eat again.
All in all, both great services, but Megafit beats them in every aspect of a meal prep delivery service except for price
EDIT: I definitely recommend avoiding the microwave though, using an airfryer/skillet/oven whenever possible makes the meals 10x better and it takes 5 mins

Got my first factor box today and so far, i love it. Im able to meet my nutritional needs and goals. I live in NYC so inflation has been hard on me. Dont even get me started in delivery fees, and taxes. Factor with or without the discount is less than ive had to spend in grocery stores. I typically cook everything i eat but with produce being as expensive as it has been, I cant even do that anymore. Takeout can easily add up to $80-100 a day after taxes, tipping etc. I did 10 meals and just got one different for each. Its 89 degrees so its nice to not have to turn my stove or oven on, to eat well.
My biggest con would be that the shipping is quite expensive. The other would have to be the lack of carbs. I have still felt hungry after these meals so far, twice today. Example: If the creamy lemon pepper chicken had an actual full serving of rice, id be pleased 😂. The baja shrimp was amazing but i ended up putting the rest into a tortilla because i was still starving after lol. For reference Im 5 foot 3 and 100 pounds on the regular. Ive always been pretty small, and not typically had a huge appetite, so i can only imagine prossiblt feeling a little ripped off after these. The food is amazing but the portion size is small in my opinion. Especially since they arent filling at all. I need a protei. Shake and a up of rice on the side or i will end up eating 3 of these back to back😂

I've tried several meal delivery services. One of my biggest problems was the delivery service actually getting the boxes to me. My suggestion....learn to cook. I cook a couple times weekly and everything is fresher, tailored to my tastes, and significantly less expensive. And my meals average around $7.

Watching this video you make a good point about the scanning of the bar codes. Have you come across any meal prep companies that have a scanning bar code so I can keep up with the calories on my fitness pal?

This is actually quite common here in PL, but actually you can get all meals for a day for... 10-20$ a day, depending on caloric needs. For me it's 17.5$ for 3500kcal, 6 meals a day and S&H daily - with 30/20/50 P/F/C split.

Just keep in mind that with these services. the first time u order u can get a massive discount. its usually for first timers a very good deal! same with hello fresh. but when that deal is over. u pay between 50% and 80% more then u did the first time. and u never get a deal like that again. so be sure to atch the cost and determine if its worth is. meal prepping takes me a while on sunday. but after the first deal is over on factor. its much much cheaper to do it urself!. u can always look at factor for meal prep ideas!

See my problem is I’m not in a place where I can prep or cook myself (although I love to). I end up wasting a ton of money on trash food and sped WAY too much on Uber eats. Usually I won’t even eat until dinner. So something like this would be simple and probably help me be healthier as well as saving a butt load of money

The problem I have with these mp deliveries is that they don't ask about your goals or metabolism. The meals are just too small, they are ok for kids sizes but not adults. I have a very fast metabolism and one meal is just a pre snack before my meal nothing more. So I think it's a waste of money, if they double the quantity they sure I guess it will fill a hole but not fill me up.

  • @antman674

One thing I dont like about Factor is the way they categorize their meals. If you order from the Protein+ plan, you could also be getting a bunch of meals from the Keto play which have super high amounts of fat. So you have to be really careful which plans and specific meals you are choosing. Its really stupid how their system is setup.

I say it like this. There's something for everyone. Me personally I can do my grocery shopping with $125 and make plenty of meals that feed a family of 4 for a month. So this for me would be a waste of money.
But, Definitely I'm sure there are people with other situations and lifestyles that could benefit from this. That doesn't mean the price still isn't expensive for what you're getting, but the convenience to a person that doesn't like to meal prep every day or once a week like a sunday for the rest of the week. Yeah this is for you.
