All three versions have their good and bad aspects. I love how that era of gaming could have the same game on different systems and they were completely different games.
I love this game to death and it was one of my most sought out ones to get when I started collecting for the SNES years ago. I had so many fun memories of renting this game from the Blockbuster and playing it with my brother (Cormano for life!). Unfortunately, like most retro games, the cost is going up. When I managed to purchase my copy about three years ago this game cost $25, now it averages close to $90.
lol SNES got that mode 7 explosion pixelation. Other than that the arcade is superior, with better colors and what looks like a slightly higher resolution. The audio is lower fidelity on the SNES but sounds great either way. Great arcade port which the SNES was known for. Mortal Kombat 2 and Super Street Fighter 2, Turtles in Time, Final Fight are other examples of great arcade ports the SNES enjoyed..the list goes on and on.
Oh come on. Final Fight on the SNES is censored in North America. It removes the female enemies and lacks the 2 player game, making it the the worst version in North America. Super Street Fighter 2 on the SNES replaces blood with sweat.
They done a great job at porting this to the snes, it's pretty close as you could get really. It lacks a lot of minor details graphically but I would say improves on the music....unlike the terrible megadrive version.

interesting how parts of the game vary. The first boss had less minions on the arcade cabinet, likely so you wouldnt die before the end of the first level. not to mention he sands there and doesn't get killed because the spray of bullets isnt swinging. And they clearly took advantage of higher resolution and probably much better color choice in the arcade version. Not to mention in the arcade there were some extras the SNES didnt have. but by the end of each stage or at key moments in each stage they would both meet at a joining event.

Could have packed in a few more arcade details on a larger cart size, but a nice port overall. It could have been *much* worse (looking at you, genesis port).
The Genesis version was a bit of a pseudo-port since it had the same storyline, but each stage had 2 acts each, the bonus stage was a ''Catch the items'' kind of game (which was easy to get everything if you abused the slow motion feature on some controllers), and Billy and Cormano were the only two playable characters. It also had a simple Vs. mode which used the boss themes that weren't used.
