@Language Lab It is funny, because the idea of the joke is how fucked up and ridiculous it would be to actually say something like that to a child of divorced parents. Then when you see what appears to be someone who actually could be that child in the audience it escalates the absurdity of the situation even more, making the joke that much more hilarious. Besides, being able to laugh at your own trauma is healthy, and it's definitely an important skill to learn if you're going to go sit front row at a comedy show.
