I remember back in the '90s hearing that Jared Leto was in a rock band and I thought, 'Oh, great. Another one of those.' He proved to be the exception to the rule. He's even said in interviews that he only acts to fund his music career.
I don't believe that for 30 seconds he is a pretty hardcore method actor so he is both but it's ridiculous to suggest that the entire career that made him famous and rich was somehow a side gig. It doesn't even sound like something he would be dumb enough to say
I was impressed by his voice. Definitely a lead singer voice: it cuts without having to sound nasal. Great intonation. Thanks for introducing me to this artist, Beth.
Seen them live twice and even got to briefly meet Jared Leto at an after show poster/cd signing. He was So friendly and Nice! He asked my name and shook my hand. A very cool, kind dude! Why I remain a Fan to this day!
If you get a chance to see them live don´t waste it, I just saw them at Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires and it was awsome, certainly one of the highlights of the festival!
I respect the crowd interaction so much! Like, I know the man and the band is talented, that's far from a controversial opinion ;) But how he just jumps in there, not afraid of his fans but seems to be super grateful and in turn gives them an experience that they can be super grateful for.
haha right? that was the most in tune crowd I've ever heard. I've been to many Tool shows and nothing is more annoying than being next to someone who is passionately tone deaf.
Back in my youthful days (2006+) I used to go see 30STM…..a lot. The guys (even Jared) are the most positives musicians I’ve experienced. If you arrived early enough. They’d come and converse with you before the show. And if you hung around after the show. They’d come take photos, sign anything, ask what songs you’d like to hear at upcoming shows and just chit chat. It was a pleasure.
I have had the pleasure of seeing 30 Seconds to Mars over 7 times and every time they put on an amazing concert, my favourite parts are the acoustic his voice 😍😍😍🤤🤤🤤
Well he does resemble Jesus somewhat, and being a modern rockstar is probably the closest a modern person can come to feeling what being the messiah feels like (minus the unfortunate torture of course).
I saw them 2010 three times and one of These gigs he must have caught a cold, before....and his voice was, yes maybe a bit soar, but though great! He's really an insanely great singer in my eyes! 👍👍😍😍😍😍👍👍
Thank you so much for this video, Thirty Seconds to Mars is my absolute favorite band, means so much to me so it's really nice seeing those videos. I've actually missed them in a way quite much lately and the echelon community, feels like a long time. Had promised myself that when I'd turn 18, I'd finally go watch them live but unfortunately they're not touring this year and I can't go to the one show they'll play in Mars Island (the annual mini festival they do and my annual depression as long as I'm not going 😂). Anyways, thank you guess for this late Valentine's Day gift (even though I don't celebrate the day wish I had seen it then), loved your reaction and you just got a new subscriber (I literally have subscribed to all vocal coaches that have reacted to 30STM) .💙 ❤️💙🤘✌️#maketheworldrockagain
For a decade more or less this band was something. They skipped from small clubs to giant arenas and most people had no idea he could act. Then he made his first movie in years, won an Oscar, and lost everything in return. I was a huge fan of his indie movies, all of them very interesting. A part of me wanted his success (he deserved, he IS a great actor), the other part was scared of loosing their music. That's exactly what happened, and he never acted in a single decent movie either after DBC. What the fuck. I think of them as my pop-rock sin. It's impossible to explain to those who weren't there why it was great to be there for people like me. Me, who came across this fantastic channel because you reviewed Dir En Grey. I'm sure you get the difference ... But i loved them for real. And i loved them deeply. Fuck success.
One of my favourite bands. Only saw them for the first time in Dublin last year and got to 5 people from the front of the stage...with no one standing behind me??? Probably the last time they will come here.
I was watching 30 Seconds to Mars in San Diego once and Jared Leto came out of the crowd. He jumped from the seats behind me and landed almost right on top of me. Gave me a hug and continued to stage. Lol
That show was my introduction to him. When I realized he was the singer, I was so shocked, surprised, and happy. I just thought it was cool, to realize he's the same person. To realize it was him.
I don't care what anyone says about him as an actor or person or whatever... this guys voice is soooooo good. I wish he stuck with the hard rock and less pop but... still a great singer.
I thought it was good but not great I just think Jeff Buckley really made that song his. I’ll need I’m biased but he just had this raw emotion that he put into it that I feel was not relayed the same for Myles Kennedy
I hope I'll go on their concert someday. They were in my country in 2011 but I was too young and I didn't listen to them back then. I'd like to hear 30stm live more than anyone else 💛
Watching him manipulate a crowd like this makes him saying "we live in a society" make much more sense. If I accomplished everything I ever tried to do, I would also probably fuck up the joker
A lot of bands get burned out on playing their biggest hit at every show for all of their career, but they're really embracing it. Gotta say, that's very cool.
It’s more difficult to pull off live. You also have to think about how many times he may have preformed that day. It would put too much strain on his vocal cords.
4:00 You mention how crazy it is that he's running around but still sounding so solid. How did you not notice the auto-tune that kicks in though once the acoustic intro ends and he starts belting with the full band? I love Leto's voice, and I'm not trying to say he didn't sound good hear, but the fact is auto-tune was used (I wish it wasn't though because a vocalist like him really doesn't need it). You can hear how much more natural his voice sounds during the acoustic beginning, and how he is a bit flat (but it's okay because he still sounds good and it sounds natural), and once the auto-tune kicks in he robotically stays glued to his pitches.
If you want to really see his singing skills, check out his acoustic version of “Save Me” which is an unreleased song that he occasionally sings at shows/radio station appearances. A lot of this video is actually not really indicative of his true talent because the audience is singing it. I dont think hes performed The Kill in its entirety in years on stage because its too hard on his vocal cords these days.
Love your recognition of natural vocal talent, could you please do K.D. Lang. Any live performance would do her voice always takes you on a journey. My picks would be Hallelujah, Crying, and Constant Craving (her most well known hit). But as I said any song will do as long as it is live.
I love this one. I have watched. I have no clue how many videos of yours? And it pains me every time. Because I have a neck injury waiting for surgery. So I can't. Use my full range and I don't know if I'll ever be able to again. But I do enjoy when you get excited. About how people sing. On Jared Leto's case obviously, there's no such thing as someone being tone deaf I mean you can learn to. Hear the notes and hold a note. It just depends on if you do it the right way or the wrong way. The Safeway for the destructive way and sorry for all the periods and all that stuff. But the neck injury comes numb hands, so I can't even play. My violin or any other instrument that I play. And I can play my violin but I don't feel like breaking it. But yeah, he had to go to a vocal teacher like yourself to learn how to Hold the proper note and modify. His voice because for some reason he naturally cannot year the note even with the ear things in so when he's singing he's going on faith alone. That he'll hit the note. That's why he get those long drawn-out notes. It's in his. Videography 30 Seconds to Mars because they always used to sing and play guitar and drums But for some reason he'd hit the note and then it would taper off. . But I do enjoy watching these videos. Thank you.
Hi Beth, I've been enjoying a few of your videos. Have you ever listened to or reacted to the *Righteous Brothers*? Especially their live videos from 1965. Thanks
I looked through the great list of performers and didn't see anything from A.F.I. Davey Havok has an incredible voice. He also sings for the new super group Dream Car which is the group No Doubt with Davey singing he also did broadway for American Idiot and has another group named Blaqk Audio. I would love to see you do a video on him
Hi, Beth, I just subscribed because I enjoyed several of your reactions, especially to some of the Latin singers. I have some suggestions that you as a voice teacher will really appreciate. First, Marisela singing the country classic “Crazy” made famous by Patsy Cline, you won’t believe her rendition of this classic which she also sings the Spanish version “Loca”. Next, one of the best female voices in Mexico today is YURI, singing with Los Angeles Azules “Me Haces Falta Tú “ or her classic “Yo Te Pido Amor”, and last but not least Daniela Romo singing “De Mi Enamórate”, written by famous songwriter Juan Gabriel. This one is an amazing piece because she raises her voice several ranges, it’s just amazing. You won’t regret it. Check them out. I love your channel and keep up the good work. Greetings from El Paso, Texas on the border with Mexico.
He's of my idols. I have sung his song before along with Saosin's and The Used's songs.. Now I am trying to reach Kellin Quin's level of note.. hahaha.. It's really hard but I can at least reach it.. Constant practice will make it better someday..
I love that Jared really interacts with his fans but a video where he's actually singing would have been better for this. There's so many live performances of The Kill.
Please do a reaction on Corey Taylor playing Snuff during his live acoustic gig. That song means so incredibly much to myself and so many more, and would love to see your take on what he is doing in terms of technique, and just to see your reaction to that song played live.
Yes, he's doing all these modifications because it's live. Same reason why he's leaning on the crowd to fill in on verses and choruses. But, if you actually reacted to the studio version I think it would provide a significant contracts and comparison. Of course studio versions have a bunch of corrective and creative ways to make the song epic but I think you have to consider that's the version all of us listened to for the first time; ultimately creating the story/fantasy for us. This is why I consider this review a bit lacking if you're supposed to react to vocalities. It should be a comparison of both if we're truly being.. true.
Interesting aside from me: I was a bouncer in Des Moines, IA from about 2002 to about 2006ish and I bounced a Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at the tail end of 2002 or the beginning of 2003 (Not really 100% sure on this one) and at the time he was pretty famous for Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream, and I didn't even know who he was. All I remember is my buddies telling me "oh yeah, a dude in this band has been in huge movies" and I was staring at the drummer thinking it was him the whole time. Imagine my horror when I found out it was the singer several years afterward!

damn, this is dope
Jared you're awesome! Both acting and in music...🤗
what?
You're so fucking awesome darling. ❤️🇦🇷
Omg
I love this band and jared leto is so accessible to his fans, one of the artists who loves his fans
I remember back in the '90s hearing that Jared Leto was in a rock band and I thought, 'Oh, great. Another one of those.' He proved to be the exception to the rule. He's even said in interviews that he only acts to fund his music career.
M McBride funny looking back at how his band was then how they are now. He def invested in his band
I've always loved that about him. Music 1st, acting 2nd!
He went to Cali to be in a band and just sort of fell into acting. Acting is definitely his side gig, lol.
Same! Then I heard The Kill and took my words back
I don't believe that for 30 seconds he is a pretty hardcore method actor so he is both but it's ridiculous to suggest that the entire career that made him famous and rich was somehow a side gig. It doesn't even sound like something he would be dumb enough to say
I was impressed by his voice. Definitely a lead singer voice: it cuts without having to sound nasal. Great intonation. Thanks for introducing me to this artist, Beth.
I just saw them live at Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires and it was awsome, certainly one of the highlights of the festival!
The way people respect him to the point where they actual create a path.. the visuals.. the voice...
This man is a force of nature.. AMAZING
Seen them live twice and even got to briefly meet Jared Leto at an after show poster/cd signing. He was So friendly and Nice! He asked my name and shook my hand. A very cool, kind dude! Why I remain a Fan to this day!
This is my first time hearing them live, and holy crap i didn't realize how incredible his actual voice is.

haha right? that was the most in tune crowd I've ever heard. I've been to many Tool shows and nothing is more annoying than being next to someone who is passionately tone deaf.
It was as epic for him as it was for them. Definitely a musician bucket list to be able to control the crowd like that
I can feel that they love him so much..
How can he run around and not sound even slightly breathy? Insane.
Another one who is very good maybe even better at it is Maynard James Keenan of Tool
he's morbius, that's why

I haven’t heard of this song in years. I used to replay it so many times when it was released.
I mean I knew from the studio recording that Jared had some pretty nuts vocals but actually seeing him perform live is another level. He’s insane
I was at this gig. Was like a biblical experience when he ran through that crowd.
Well he does resemble Jesus somewhat, and being a modern rockstar is probably the closest a modern person can come to feeling what being the messiah feels like (minus the unfortunate torture of course).
After those pics of his cult its funny that you say that

I saw them in 2007, the man's voice is absolutely incredible.
My first time seeing 30seconds to mars...was in St. pete Florida...Dude climbed on top of stage...amazing performance.

I don't care what anyone says about him as an actor or person or whatever... this guys voice is soooooo good. I wish he stuck with the hard rock and less pop but... still a great singer.
I remember as a kid going to see TSTM live and playing a acoustic version of this sat in the crowd at the end of the my row
This song came out when I was in 5th grade. I'm 25 now, and still jam out to it allllll the time. I fucking LOVE 30 Seconds to Mars. ❤
Oi Beth
Definitely react to The Pot by Tool cause it is an amazing song with solid vocals
Myles Kennedy performs "Hallelujah" with Jeff Buckley's Fender Telecaster.
