I love the “To tell that kid he’s gonna take a lot of hits” line. Because it’s kind of a double meaning. Taking literal hits because he was abused by one of his mom’s boyfriends, and some emotional hits like his mom passing away.

By the way Nate talks to his fans on some sort of social media platform about his new album after it dropped. He talks about his favorite song was interlude followed by I hate myself and Nate. He says that after the perception tour that he was really depressed and suicidal. He checked himself in somewhere for 4 days and that's where he wrote those 2 songs. Nate was an exercise he was ask to do about what he would tell himself when he was younger. Pretty interesting. He's pretty straight forward when it comes to his music.

I think it's crazy how he basically tells his younger self major advice for life, but mostly just in a general way, so that IF past-Nate could hear this, he could maybe handle a few things better, BUT on this track he doesn't really throw spoilers out there and doesn't tell everything that's gonna happen exactly. I mean for example that he doesn't say that his mother will die, that's why he said "skip track no.4", because for his character development he shouldn't be prepared for this to happen

This video hit a little too close to home. I try not to fall down the rabbit hole, but I definitely understand hitting career goals then feeling like "what does any of this even mean?", especially with the recent passing of my dad. Worked hard his entire life just to be diagnosed with a terminal illness 2 months before his retirement and 2.5 years later he's gone never getting the chance to kick his feet up and enjoy the fruits of his labor. This is life huh? Work hard then die. I can't mess with you NF cause this is a dangerous space to be mentally, but I really like him and hope he can always get whatever help he needs.
super sorry to hear about the loss of your father...yes its those moments where we questions the meaning of life and what we are working towards...it can feel like the world is attacking you...thats when you have to find joy in your work but realize that its nothing more than that..work. Gotta find life in things that money cant buy because at the end of the day, that all people are going to care about when they remember you and the legacy you left.

Not sure the motivation for artists attempting to separate themselves from their art other than 💰 but, yeah, He's a Christian rapper to say otherwise is a difference without a distinction.

Shane M depends on what your definition of Christian music is. The content of his music especially in the last 3 albums doesn’t really touch much on faith or god other than mentions of it here and there. He hasn’t made a full song about faith (at least not one i can think of) since mansion. Someone like lecrae I see as a Christian rapper or gospel rapper because he actually has his faith in the fore front of a lot of his music and that’s my personal distinction.

@TheThirdErnest Back on October 13th of 2019, I had the opportunity to see NF live on The Search tour at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO & I have to say this was one of my favorite tracks that he performed!! He had the coolest graphics & pics of Nate when he was younger in the background, eerie lighting, & I loved the way the stage was set up for this track. They had two chairs facing each other and NF was sitting on one of them rapping to the empty chair as if his younger self Nate was there. If you haven't seen NF live yet & if you ever get the opportunity to go, take it. His concert was phenomenal. There's no way to describe the energy you feel from NF performing & that same energy reflect in the crowd throughout the entire venue. It truly is something you have to experience for yourself!
