The part when he says “I’ll be here for you if things get worse” hits hard for me. It is such a cool way to tell the younger Nate that he never kills himself.
Man its crazyyyyyyyyyy the difference in views from NF videos and the others on your channel. I watch all the vids lol but sheesh. Us NF fans are different.
Sorry we kept bothering you to go back to Nate so much But in the end it's your fault for being so awesome and making us want more videos sooo🤷🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️
I love the “To tell that kid he’s gonna take a lot of hits” line. Because it’s kind of a double meaning. Taking literal hits because he was abused by one of his mom’s boyfriends, and some emotional hits like his mom passing away.
He gives reactions that educate people. He seems to know more about the industry than anyone else. I learn a lot watching these. They are my favorite. ♡
I think it's crazy how he basically tells his younger self major advice for life, but mostly just in a general way, so that IF past-Nate could hear this, he could maybe handle a few things better, BUT on this track he doesn't really throw spoilers out there and doesn't tell everything that's gonna happen exactly. I mean for example that he doesn't say that his mother will die, that's why he said "skip track no.4", because for his character development he shouldn't be prepared for this to happen
You made a great observation, I feel the need to point out that Nate said “skip to track no.4” as it kind of changes what you’re saying. Nevertheless, what you said is true for the rest of the song
By the way Nate talks to his fans on some sort of social media platform about his new album after it dropped. He talks about his favorite song was interlude followed by I hate myself and Nate. He says that after the perception tour that he was really depressed and suicidal. He checked himself in somewhere for 4 days and that's where he wrote those 2 songs. Nate was an exercise he was ask to do about what he would tell himself when he was younger. Pretty interesting. He's pretty straight forward when it comes to his music.
Been digging Lupe's stuff man! But also glad we're still getting to some NF, was anticipating a super deep analysis on this one. Just shows the standard of quality you put in this channel!
thats what makes his music so powerful...most talented lyricist ever? no. but willing to put his life out there for people to see? most definitely and thats what makes his songs powerful...no one cares about your lyrical ability if you aren't saying anything worth listening to
Your ability to notice the small details is, quite honestly, amazing! And, your off the cuff quotes, examples, etc...I often find myself wondering if you have a super-developed eidetic memory. Your perception & observation skills are impressive. You are now my "go to" for rap tracks & video breakdowns. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! ✌😃✌
Brother, I love that you don’t bash Nate for his faith!!! As a Christian myself, I struggle with other “Christians” destroying my confidence and my abilities that I try to follow in my everyday life.
React to "Oh Lord" by NF it's a bit of a older song but that shit will really get you thinking and make your realize A LOT of stuff that you or others may do without realizing.
I’ve probably listened to this a hundred time and never noticed half the stuff this guy does damn just for realizing it was a happy birthday in the beginning I dropped the sub
EA3...FLAWLESS as per!! Is it just me or do you wonder how Nate is doing with the success of this album...Let's send him lots of love and light fam!!!💕💕💕😀😀 And always sending love and light to you EA3 💕💕💕😀😀😀 Namaste,my friend!!
I know, we're on the Lupe train now but you should really do a reaction on Hate myself - NF. But make sure listening to NFs Interlude before you listen to Hate myself. Anyways. As always a excellent breakdown. I really enjoy your style of "reaction" video. It's very satisfying watching your videos due to you actually listening and interpreting the lyrics of the songs and not just the song as a whole. Additionally: For me as a non native english speaker your breakdowns really help me understand a lot of rap songs, especially the really bar heavy ones, where one double entendre follows another. So thanks for that as well :D
xXxfdssxXX some vids are true reactions some are breakdowns since I know the song! And thanks for joining on the Lupe train! We are actually on Lupe and NF train simultaneously lol
This video hit a little too close to home. I try not to fall down the rabbit hole, but I definitely understand hitting career goals then feeling like "what does any of this even mean?", especially with the recent passing of my dad. Worked hard his entire life just to be diagnosed with a terminal illness 2 months before his retirement and 2.5 years later he's gone never getting the chance to kick his feet up and enjoy the fruits of his labor. This is life huh? Work hard then die. I can't mess with you NF cause this is a dangerous space to be mentally, but I really like him and hope he can always get whatever help he needs.
super sorry to hear about the loss of your father...yes its those moments where we questions the meaning of life and what we are working towards...it can feel like the world is attacking you...thats when you have to find joy in your work but realize that its nothing more than that..work. Gotta find life in things that money cant buy because at the end of the day, that all people are going to care about when they remember you and the legacy you left.
He came up on Christian radio/marketing and tours/festivals is himself a Christian. He is a Christian artist by definition. Not sure the motivation for artists attempting to separate themselves from their art other than 💰 but, yeah, He's a Christian rapper to say otherwise is a difference without a distinction. Appreciate the breakdowns 👍
Shane M depends on what your definition of Christian music is. The content of his music especially in the last 3 albums doesn’t really touch much on faith or god other than mentions of it here and there. He hasn’t made a full song about faith (at least not one i can think of) since mansion. Someone like lecrae I see as a Christian rapper or gospel rapper because he actually has his faith in the fore front of a lot of his music and that’s my personal distinction.
Keep killin it my guy.. Class is in session! The Search album is easily album of the year. Also i checked out both Lupe tracks.. Im glad you led with what you did.. I wasnt feelin the first one, but the second one was FUEGO!!
Ernest, I have a 14 year old that struggles with anxiety and depression and cutting. I encourage him to listen to NF and he has become a HUGE fan. Sent him to his concert in MSP. Your explanations of his music and videos are SPOT ON. I’m now going to tell him to subscribe to you and listen to your explanation of this song First because you have done it superbly. You are like Nate, your explanations will help my son understand the song at an even deeper level. Keep on doin what you do. It’s appreciated.
I’m from Serbia, I speak English fine, but can’t catch everything in a rap song easily. Thanks to you, I can fully appreciate the music I like. I don’t miss a video. Best to man. ps can’t wait for old school train. ;)
So I've been listening to Nate a lot recently, and I feel the expanse of emptiness infront of me, with a city behind me, as in I have what I've dealed with as I am now, and what I have in my past. But the future is empty, like an empty canvas ready to be painted. Especially with this song. Anyone else?
No, I didn't hear that Logic followed you on Instagram! Wait, he did what??? Lol, nah but dude, I keep sounding like a broken record along with others here, but so cool to see where you've come from to get to this crazy point of recognition from different artists! Proud of you and the ThirdFam!
I saw NF on Oct 1 perform this song, it was so beautiful as he sang to an empty chair with young Nate on the screen behind him. Amazing live performer.
You are the best ,how you break down the lyrics its on a whole new level your are gifted keep up the good work you will blow up at one point much love from Romania
Love your content bro. And loved how you related the difference between confidence and arrogance to your haters. And very true. Btw that's why I'm subbing... Dat swag doe
i feel like the line about “you think this is just an outlet when you’re really mad but you don’t know the platform you’re about to have” is talking about how he didn’t know what he was in for when he started rapping in the music industry
I have to admit... I totally laughed out loud at Nate-thirty. So glad to have you review this song and have to say, I look forward to all your breakdowns, it is awesome to have someone point out bits that are missed in both lyrics and music videos that make what you have just heard/seen even better. Keep it up, totally my fav channel. PS: totally liked this video before I heard it all... always a guaranteed win here.
I have been watching reaction vids for months now, but this is the first time i have subscribed to one. Keep it up big guy. I am watching this from Botswana in Southern Africa. I have been a fan of rap for the most part of my life because of the content, now am happy i can get into the dissection of the lyrics.
Bro of all the time I've listened to this song (and that's a lot),I've never noticed the bday song thing ever, and you noticed it the very first time! That shows your level of attention to detail man, keep doing you!
So I have listened to this song so many times..and I just now realized in the beginning the singing of happy birthday..this is why I love watching Ernest man..he points stuff out other reactors never would..it's amazing how I just caught this a year later 🤦
Faith Walker it’s when you realize you aren’t a kid anymore but at the same time most 28 year olds still don’t have their life fully together. I struggled at 28 for sure
I've seen so many reactions on this song, and you are the only one who noticed that they singing Happy Birthday for him at the very beginning! Worth the sub!
Dude you break them down better than anyone! Unbelievable bro , don't ever stop! You were born for this! This channel is going to blow up trust me! Keep doing you bro!
After this, if you go back to the Lupe train that's completely alright. If you get a chance to react to more NF though, I recommend Dreams if you want. Anyway, I love this reaction, I completely missed the Happy Birthday at the beginning
Fam nf brought me to you, but you kept me here. Out of all the people doing reactions, you are one of the only that actually LISTEN to the words and get them, I hit that sub and am enjoying your content, much love!!!
I come back to these reactions because noone else can listen to these songs and understand them the way I do so they don't get my obsession with the lyrics and how I relate. Appreciate the reactions
Have been super excited for your reaction to this one since it might be my favorite of the previously unreleased tracks. Love that you always include a little bit at the beginning of each video that shows your personality...and of course Nima 😍😂
Yo, man, you are the best. I watched multiple reactions to this, and none of them noticed the Happy birthday part. I knew you weren't gonna miss that. It's very important part and gave me chills
Yeah, sometimes I wanna disappear like I just don't exist I'll find a time machine and take me back when I was six Maybe younger, either way, I guess the point of it Would be to tell that little kid that he's gon' take a lot of hits Yeah, I'd probably grab your hand and tell you life is hard If you got questions or you need advice, then talk to God 'Cause He's the only one that listens even when you think He isn't Even good people are great at making bad decisions (yeah) They ain't gon' take it serious You find out pretty quick that life is more than just appearances I know some things we could avoid to save embarrassment But everything that breaks you down can also build your character 'Cause people love to see you fail, just be aware of it Don't let nobody tell you who to be or write your narrative Look, we're all products of the things that we experience But there's a big difference between confidence and arrogance You hearin' this? I know that you won't get it now, but you gon' get it later I know that you feel alone and no one loves you maybe And you gon' cover insecurities with lots of anger The weird thing is someday all of this will make you famous You start to write about your life and while they're all relatin' You'll make up a slogan, call it "Real, " but feel like you're the fakest Wish I could tell you that you're future's nothing but amazin' That's just not the case, and I guess I just don't know how to say this I don't know if you can hear me or not But if you can, I just want you to know You gon' make a lot of mistakes And they gon' laugh in our face That's part of life, that's just the way that it goes (That's just the way that it goes) And I don't know if you can hear me or not But if you can, I just need you to get it I know you been questionin' life Trust me, I know what it's like I'm here for you if you need someone to listen Do you need someone to listen? See, mom and dad are not together, they took different routes But you probably already knew, you gettin' older now Remember back when mom picked us up from grandma's house? And she hid her boyfriend in the trunk and drove a couple miles Down the street and she pulled over to let him out 'Cause she didn't want dad to know she had these type of dudes around 'Cause last time he found out, he had to take us from her You look uncomfortable, I'm sorry, let me change the subject You know how we've always struggled with abandonment? (Yeah) And when we feel like someone's leaving, we start panickin'? (Yeah) And yo, I wish I could say I've learned to manage it You think it's bad now, but you don't know the half of it Passionate, something we have never lacked We see it the most when we're writing raps They think it's funny now, let 'em laugh I know you think it's just an outlet when you're really mad But you don't know the platform you're about to have I know some things about the future you ain't ready for I know some things that you gon' cover up, but can't ignore And what hurts is they gon' surface at the worst moments And we gon' act like it don't hurt us, but it hurts, don't it? We walk around with the Devil talkin' on both shoulders Wish I could tell you that he disappears when we get older But that's just not the case, and I know you feel out of place And everything is not okay, and life can be a lot to take, but I don't know if you can hear me or not But if you can, I just want you to know You gon' make a lot of mistakes And they gon' laugh in our face That's part of life, that's just the way that it goes (That's just the way that it goes) And I don't know if you can hear me or not But if you can, I just need you to get it I know you been questionin' life Trust me, I know what it's like I'm here for you if you need someone to listen Do you need someone to listen? You know how intoxicated people make us nervous? To the point sometimes we shake and it feels so disturbin' Don't be scared, that's just trauma tryna reach the surface And tell us everyone we love is gonna try to hurt us Which isn't true, but it's a lie that both of us believe in Yeah, you might get a glimpse of happiness from your achievements But what you'll learn as you get older, every time you reach one Is you'll just make another goal that doesn't lead to freedom See, some things about to happen that you can't imagine At twenty-four, you'll drop an album, and you'll call it Mansion At twenty-five, you'll put out Therapy and gain some traction Skip to track number four, now that's a really sad one Yeah, Perception's coming next, we 'bout to reach the masses It sounds awesome, at the same time, it doesn't matter At twenty-seven, we'll make millions, but it's really sad 'cause You'll learn to realize that none of this will make you happy I wish that I could look at you with empathy Sometimes I feel like I've become what you were scared to be Which makes it really hard to look at you with sympathy 'Cause if I'm feeling bad for you, then I have to feel bad for me And that's just something I feel like we don't deserve That's why I'm always looking down on you, I know it hurts I'm sure you have a lot of questions I've been tryna search to find us both some answers I'll be here for you if things get worse
NF reactions brought me to your channel, but the way you break down the lyrics and production aspects also are next level compared to many other larger reaction channels. Which is what got you my Subscription. Keep it up!
Yo Ernest! Just found you the other day and have binged about half of your NF vids already because I'm a HUGE NF fan... with that being said, you should check out one of his greatest old-school songs "All I Have" and you will notice very quickly how much different both the song AND vid is than what he makes now. Thanks!
@TheThirdErnest Back on October 13th of 2019, I had the opportunity to see NF live on The Search tour at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO & I have to say this was one of my favorite tracks that he performed!! He had the coolest graphics & pics of Nate when he was younger in the background, eerie lighting, & I loved the way the stage was set up for this track. They had two chairs facing each other and NF was sitting on one of them rapping to the empty chair as if his younger self Nate was there. If you haven't seen NF live yet & if you ever get the opportunity to go, take it. His concert was phenomenal. There's no way to describe the energy you feel from NF performing & that same energy reflect in the crowd throughout the entire venue. It truly is something you have to experience for yourself!
Dude, I’ve listened to this a half dozen times and haven’t heard the happy Birthday in the beginning. Noice
Right?!
Same bro... Weak earphones gang
Brandon Phifer holy shit me too that’s wild
+1
Same🤦🏻♂️
The part when he says “I’ll be here for you if things get worse” hits hard for me. It is such a cool way to tell the younger Nate that he never kills himself.
A BARRRRRRR
Ben Wrobel I never thought of it that way. Interesting.
Well that elevated the lyric to a whole new level...
yoo Ben, could you elaborate on that, please? I'm not sure I understand
IVN Music telling little Nate that times will get hard helps him prepare for life when he’s older cause life is hard but dont let that affect you
“It’s approximately Nate-thirty” this why I love you 😂
😂😂😂 well would you look at the time!
TheThirdErnest it’s quarter to Nate twenty 😂
Tbh i don't even notice the Happy birthday being played on the start
Man its crazyyyyyyyyyy the difference in views from NF videos and the others on your channel. I watch all the vids lol but sheesh. Us NF fans are different.
Fear Nothing hahaha you ain’t never lie. It’s wild
I only watch nf and em, not really interested the others
It's because nf its easy to digest....no complex shit so that everyone gets it...plus alot of ppl relate to this
NF family is huge.
he's NF
you're FN
it's kinda obvious at this point that you're a fan.
Sorry we kept bothering you to go back to Nate so much
But in the end it's your fault for being so awesome and making us want more videos sooo🤷🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️
Fabienne C it ain’t even a bother...love reacting to Nate! Just gotta spread it out make sure we don’t run out! Lol

I just realized the lupe vids have like 5k views in a week and this got 3k in an hour😂 nf fam strong

@@Cetusedw Does he really says "Skip to track 4" ? I understand "Skip the track 4"

It's Instagram that he uses... I always miss it cuz I refuse to use Instagram.
This song hits me in a way... prolly one of my favorites
I’ve listened to this song multiple times and never even heard the “happy birthday” song in the beginning. 😂😂
The part about Young Nate taking a lot of hits can also be references to the physical abuse he would go through from his mom's boyfriend.
Get your boy to make a “that’s a bar” t-shirt
Ross Perrine haha I would but that’s his own brand with its own vision. I’m designing that’s a bar shirt this weekend tho should be up next week!
people need to give this man the credit and sub
Been digging Lupe's stuff man! But also glad we're still getting to some NF, was anticipating a super deep analysis on this one. Just shows the standard of quality you put in this channel!
Johnathan Granados yessir! Lupe train and NF at the same time! Absolute win win lol

I have been watching reaction vids for months now, but this is the first time i have subscribed to one. Keep it up big guy. I am watching this from Botswana in Southern Africa. I have been a fan of rap for the most part of my life because of the content, now am happy i can get into the dissection of the lyrics.
Oduetse Machete always got big love for my international family!! Welcome to the fam bro
We're just starting a Lupe Fiasco trip on the channel too, if you're a fan of rap, then definitely keep notifications on for this channel too!
I love watching your reaction vids bro
Aye third family notification squad
Aye!
Aye!! Lol
Your breakdowns are the BEST regarding NF. Truly intelligent and thoughtful breakdown ❤️
okay but imagine NEXT UP YOUNG NATTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEE
You know it is a real reaction channel when it's 4 to 5 times longer than a song
28 is one of the turning points in your life. A lot of people go thru one of their biggest struggle when they are 28.
Becca Rame we doing Lupe and NF at the same time!
@@TheThirdErnest Ok cool, best of both
Dude your reaction and lyric analysis is on point! You quickly became the place to go to get into meaning of a song especially NF. Good work man
Fam nf brought me to you, but you kept me here. Out of all the people doing reactions, you are one of the only that actually LISTEN to the words and get them, I hit that sub and am enjoying your content, much love!!!
THASABAR!!!!!
Love your breakdowns man, best wishes from Cyprus!
I honesty don’t know how someone can dislike this video. Great video, keep up the good work.
I started to cry when you pointed out the happy birthday song in the beginning. I don't really know exactly why but I did, I got chills too.
Your reactions are very in depth and you explain things well. New sub!
welcome to the fam Miriam! thank you!
Props to you man, I never caught the birthday song in the beginning.
I come back to these reactions because noone else can listen to these songs and understand them the way I do so they don't get my obsession with the lyrics and how I relate. Appreciate the reactions
After 3 months , I finally decided to subscribe to your channel , just because of NF 😍 love how you go into detail with his songs ....
Have been super excited for your reaction to this one since it might be my favorite of the previously unreleased tracks. Love that you always include a little bit at the beginning of each video that shows your personality...and of course Nima 😍😂
That baby dog sooo full of adorableness!!🤗
Fire 🔥 reaction as usual
YASS I hoped so hard for this
I clicked so fast my fongers got whiplash.
Yo, man, you are the best. I watched multiple reactions to this, and none of them noticed the Happy birthday part. I knew you weren't gonna miss that. It's very important part and gave me chills
Your reactions are the best 🔥
I never heard happy birthday in the beginning till now now I will never hear it the same again 😂“Nate Thirty “ fricking KILLED ME
Yeah, sometimes I wanna disappear like I just don't exist
I'll find a time machine and take me back when I was six
Maybe younger, either way, I guess the point of it
Would be to tell that little kid that he's gon' take a lot of hits
Yeah, I'd probably grab your hand and tell you life is hard
If you got questions or you need advice, then talk to God
'Cause He's the only one that listens even when you think He isn't
Even good people are great at making bad decisions (yeah)
They ain't gon' take it serious
You find out pretty quick that life is more than just appearances
I know some things we could avoid to save embarrassment
But everything that breaks you down can also build your character
'Cause people love to see you fail, just be aware of it
Don't let nobody tell you who to be or write your narrative
Look, we're all products of the things that we experience
But there's a big difference between confidence and arrogance
You hearin' this?
I know that you won't get it now, but you gon' get it later
I know that you feel alone and no one loves you maybe
And you gon' cover insecurities with lots of anger
The weird thing is someday all of this will make you famous
You start to write about your life and while they're all relatin'
You'll make up a slogan, call it "Real, " but feel like you're the fakest
Wish I could tell you that you're future's nothing but amazin'
That's just not the case, and I guess I just don't know how to say this
I don't know if you can hear me or not
But if you can, I just want you to know
You gon' make a lot of mistakes
And they gon' laugh in our face
That's part of life, that's just the way that it goes
(That's just the way that it goes)
And I don't know if you can hear me or not
But if you can, I just need you to get it
I know you been questionin' life
Trust me, I know what it's like
I'm here for you if you need someone to listen
Do you need someone to listen?
See, mom and dad are not together, they took different routes
But you probably already knew, you gettin' older now
Remember back when mom picked us up from grandma's house?
And she hid her boyfriend in the trunk and drove a couple miles
Down the street and she pulled over to let him out
'Cause she didn't want dad to know she had these type of dudes around
'Cause last time he found out, he had to take us from her
You look uncomfortable, I'm sorry, let me change the subject
You know how we've always struggled with abandonment? (Yeah)
And when we feel like someone's leaving, we start panickin'? (Yeah)
And yo, I wish I could say I've learned to manage it
You think it's bad now, but you don't know the half of it
Passionate, something we have never lacked
We see it the most when we're writing raps
They think it's funny now, let 'em laugh
I know you think it's just an outlet when you're really mad
But you don't know the platform you're about to have
I know some things about the future you ain't ready for
I know some things that you gon' cover up, but can't ignore
And what hurts is they gon' surface at the worst moments
And we gon' act like it don't hurt us, but it hurts, don't it?
We walk around with the Devil talkin' on both shoulders
Wish I could tell you that he disappears when we get older
But that's just not the case, and I know you feel out of place
And everything is not okay, and life can be a lot to take, but
I don't know if you can hear me or not
But if you can, I just want you to know
You gon' make a lot of mistakes
And they gon' laugh in our face
That's part of life, that's just the way that it goes
(That's just the way that it goes)
And I don't know if you can hear me or not
But if you can, I just need you to get it
I know you been questionin' life
Trust me, I know what it's like
I'm here for you if you need someone to listen
Do you need someone to listen?
You know how intoxicated people make us nervous?
To the point sometimes we shake and it feels so disturbin'
Don't be scared, that's just trauma tryna reach the surface
And tell us everyone we love is gonna try to hurt us
Which isn't true, but it's a lie that both of us believe in
Yeah, you might get a glimpse of happiness from your achievements
But what you'll learn as you get older, every time you reach one
Is you'll just make another goal that doesn't lead to freedom
See, some things about to happen that you can't imagine
At twenty-four, you'll drop an album, and you'll call it Mansion
At twenty-five, you'll put out Therapy and gain some traction
Skip to track number four, now that's a really sad one
Yeah, Perception's coming next, we 'bout to reach the masses
It sounds awesome, at the same time, it doesn't matter
At twenty-seven, we'll make millions, but it's really sad 'cause
You'll learn to realize that none of this will make you happy
I wish that I could look at you with empathy
Sometimes I feel like I've become what you were scared to be
Which makes it really hard to look at you with sympathy
'Cause if I'm feeling bad for you, then I have to feel bad for me
And that's just something I feel like we don't deserve
That's why I'm always looking down on you, I know it hurts
I'm sure you have a lot of questions
I've been tryna search to find us both some answers
I'll be here for you if things get worse
Why does this have no likes like why
#1 Album right now! Lets go nate
Hey man glad to hear you passed your exam. I just heard yesterday I passed the CFA level 2 exam. Great reaction too

You have the deadliest reactions and madly appreciated.
appreciate that bro!!
Damnnnnnn i never caught HAPPY BIRTHDAY in the background 😮😮😮
