Easily one of the more memorable games in the series. I feel lucky to still have a fully functional OG cart. The re-pros of these are getting scarily common now. Aside from that, The Battle Frontier was such a sick feature in the game, so much content! Keep up the content RG! Your reviews are getting better and better!
The battle factory was my favorite facility. I learned a lot about strats from there when I was otherwise a noob to Pokémon, and what I learned there got me skilled enough to complete the other facilities. It was the first facility that I was able to beat the facility head both times in a streak, and I think my highest ever streak there was in the 110s. Edit: P.S. I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers, this is quality content. I am now subscribed :3
This video's quality is WAY above the number of views it has, I just realized this isn't a channel with a few hundred thousand subscribers. Very entertaining video. If you are wondering why you didn't get access to the rematches with the gym leaders despite waiting for hours, that's because it isn't decided on play time, but on battles/encounters. After a certain amount of encounters/battles you have a certain chance of getting a rematch available. I think it was 60 for wild encounters and 20 for trainer battles, and I think the probability after doing all that was of about a third. I don't remember the specifics but they are on the wiki if you're interested. Again, great video, I'm subscribing!
@@jwill294 they're both way better than HGSS, which is honestly a pretty mid tier game. Emerald's my favourite, but there's no doubt that BW2 is at the peak
When I was a kid it took months to get a single gymleader to rebattle me but the trick is after every 20th trainer battle or 60 random pokemon encounter there is only a 30 percent chance to get a gymleader to want to rematch you I managed to rebattle all of them lol But also you have to battle all 8 for you to be able to rematch them again with even stronger teams so it takes forever
I've never had to grind in emerald usually have a team of 4-5 pokemon with 1-2 HM users I also find it strange that you had issues with the later gym leaders, usually when people complain about the old exp system they complain about the first few gym leaders, which is more understandable as you have less resources and options other than leveling up, by the 7th gym leader you should have plenty of way of beating anything in your way
I remember the first time I used Cut as a field move without being near a cut tree. I was like "Wait a minute." and then I went to route 119 and cut down all the thick tall grass and just ran up and down the barren route laughing because I wasn't slowed down by the grass anymore. 10/10 best obscure mechanic ever. Also nothing and I mean nothing will beat the Horns of Hoenn, I remember getting to the Battle Frontier and just being hyped because of those horns. Black/White/Black2/White2 may be my favorite games in the series but I grew up playing RSE, mostly Emerald, and I hold it fondly in my memory, Top 5 game in my books.
You're section about the exp really triggered me haha, nah but personally I've played through these games too many times, I've probably played through all the gen 3 and 4 games over 100 times and I have rarely ever had to grind for exp, especially on some recent playthroughs I struggle to even keep my pokemon at the level cap of the next gym, I don't want to just be like "skill issue" like some dick but I honestly feel like if you're having to grind for hours and it's taking up half of the play time then that is a you problem, unless you're switching out your team constantly then there shouldn't be an issue
If you are into Pokemon Games and u really want to play a brand new good and fresh game play Pokemon unbound, its a hackrom from third gen pokemon but a whole new story with lot of content and very difficult with a few game modes! its amazing and my fav hackrom game and it could be an original Nintendo pokemon game because its really well made
I just could never get through Emerald. I loved the idea of the contests too much to see them basically shoved into a tiny corner late in the game so no one had to think about them.
If you feel obligated to grind in these older games, its a skill issue. Pokemon is not a game where you need to be on par in terms if levels to have a fair and balanced fight

On one hand it's good that they are getting common due to the fact that we can use the shells for repairs.

3rd best Pokémon game of all time and it’s been 18 years since it dropped lol
2nd/3rd best for sure, it's neck and neck with Platinum. BW2 is objectively the best
@@PMar797 I’ve never played BW or BW2 but I hear people say they’re great. My personal favorite are HG/SS and then emerald

@@PMar797 "Objective"? I fucking hate Unova stans holy shit..
For me hgss and emerald share the n1 spot.
Bro this is hilarious and mega informative. Awsome footage and footnotes too.
I was never really into pokemon growing up but this is still one of my favorite games of all time.
Really good quality video!❤ Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video! Amazing work!
15+ years later & im JUST now finding about hyper cutter. I knew about the regular cut sequence tho 😅

The best of it is time!
Also if you battle every trainer you meet the xp issue isn't that bit of a deal. I'd see it only being an issue if you skip trainer battles
I miss this game.

How can you talk about the battle pike without talking about Mommy, I mean, Pike Queen Lucy?
I just could never get through Emerald. I loved the idea of the contests too much to see them basically shoved into a tiny corner late in the game so no one had to think about them.
Great video! I actually like Emerald more than ORAS.

Gen 5 had the absolute worst xp system barring black/white 2 in black tower or White forest
Did you just give emerald the 5.5 out of 10?
Wouldn't be surprised if the sun/Moon games were in the upper tiers
Best pokemon game
To me fire red is the greatest gameboy pokemon game of all time
