    I have been looking forward to this. All the other podcasters will be jealous you got Robert Gibson. He's the big star that I know the least about. Ivan, Nikita and Krusher Kruschev had been destroying everybody in Jim Crockett's territory and looked unbeatable to me. Rock n Roll express was new to us and getting over with the fans but I didn't think they had a chance because of their size. They won the belts on tv. Talk about white hot in the good way.

    Never forget hanging out at the private flying service at the Tri Cities Airport in TN just to watch the wrestlers come in. My buddy and I were watching Hoot play Pole Position in the little arcade and he had to leave so he told my friend to take over for him and He and Ricky left while we just stood there in disbelief that these guys were cool enough to talk to a couple of kids...the good ol' days I suppose

    I remember watching Saturday night wrestling when they started talking about this great tag team from California coming to compete in the tag team tournament. 😆 I thought, They have wrestling in California? About the third week the tag team arrived and did a short promo and even shorter match. They fought the Mulkeys who won by accident. It was Mulkey Mania for a week or two before the tournament. I thought it was cool that the jobbers of all jobbers got some respect and got praise from the fans. The Mulkeys were good enough to look like weaklings in the ring and still make the other guys look great.

    I never played the name game with Wrestlers but it was common on School Field Trip Long Bust Rides. Most of them are probably drunk or intoxicated so can't imagine playing both initials. That is more for Actors or so. Road Warriors always my favorite so nice to have Hawk stories. I wont drink Beer either so its funny JImmy Crownette can't even handle a Soda Pop :). Its true Ellering was even reading in that backstage footage from like last NWA or WCW event. I'd mix up all these Express groups or Rockers from back in day. Midnight Express had to handle the Back of Their line with Sweet Stan hehe. Double Down is easier to say. NewSpeak to OldSpeak hehe. This dude still driving over 100 Miles. They get to Wrestle Briscoes before his passing?

    There's a handful of pro wrestlers in history who are actual fighters. Being the toughest man in wrestling is like being the "nicest guy in prison" as Corny says. Butterbean was a terrible, journeyman boxer and absolutely destroyed that wrestler, forget his name. There's an interview with Phil Baroni (now in prison before trial afaik) who said wrestling was full of wannabe tough guys. I couldn't agree more. Wrestling, amateur or professional wrestling requires unbelievable athletic ability but that's why pure wrestlers have to learn stand up fighting in MMA. Lesnar is a freak athlete but a half decent, domestic level boxer would destroy him in a boxing ring. Not sure what my point is. Bananas as it's 3am. Lo siento, Romero. 😎

    • @Daoloth
      @Daoloth Год назад +1

      Hey man I knew NYBA Phil Baroni from Little League Thru HS had no idea he was in prison. He was a real tough guy often fighting guys who would come from NY City to fight somebody at the HS in Massapequa Long Island. He lost MMA fights wanting to pound or punish the opponent. He got that name from being an alternate in a UFC. That one Wrestler was like World Class or Olympic Silver Medalist who I think won over him Twice or Linland or can't recall name. War Machine if remember him from Ultimate Fighter doing the stuff in the tank for Toilet ended up in Jail too. Mayhem Miller his other pal had the Bully Beatdown show got shafted for that incident in a UFC event heh. Sabu Terry Brunk would have probably got destroyed by Phil if got into conflict as he was upset over something once hehe. Brock survive Motorcycle accident that would have been too much for most along with that operation. He still nearly made NFL after that heh. Butterbean probably like 300 pounds he was good in Tough Man even Baroni won that match but "lost" decision if recall the Lisa Guerrero clip hehe. Russo claimed he did that Brawl for All to show who was the REal Tough guys from them always talking BS too :). Even the fans start to think they are tough or should win over this or that person hehe. Thanks for the information about PB had no idea what was going on with him.
