Great to see you like it and it seems to hold up well. The new ones come with a liner that will run aluminum wire in your MIG torch, as well as spool gun ready. I'm curious to see if they work well with those
So glad some people are doing long-term reviews not just unboxing and first impressions. Also appreciate that they didn't pay you or give you a free welder to do this review!
When your TIG welding with this machine instead of pulling your torch straight away from the material, roll it to break the arc and allow your gas to continue flowing for 3-5 seconds over your weld it will help with the little pinholes and also as it's been said in precious comments you need good clean metal for TIG welding

I know I asked about that in the video. However if you watch this whole video I pretty much cover what everything does, its just a matter of finding some scrap metal of different thickness, and see what works best. You can set this thing to 170 amps and weld almost anything well just by changing how fast you travel. But that takes time to develop. best thing you can do as a starter, watch the puddle, not the arc! Next, I HIGHLY suggest watching @mikefestiva channel here on youtube he has some fantastic beginner welding videos that you can learn alot from, and they are pleasant to watch. Tell him I sent you in the comments!
I would look at the Yeswelder 250 pro, its going to have more features than the 205(much like the miller) and its only $100+ or so more than the 205. Ive got a video on that one also
I just got mine yesterday, so I haven't tried it yet, but one thing that I think is a big con is the power cord. The welder has a standard 110v plug, which is no big deal, but the 220v adapter also has a standard matching 110v socket. If one leaves the adapter plugged in, there is a chance that someone could plug a 110v item into an outlet that has 220v. My Everlast welder, which is also dual voltage, is the opposite. The welder has the 220v plug and the adapter has a matching 220v receptacle. So, if left plugged in, the receptacle would be non standard for most things and at worst, a 220v item would only get 110v.
I’ve heard people complain of that but it’s your equipment right? If you unplug the welder, unplug the whole thing. Heck you could even tape the adapter to the main cord if you want. I treat it as 1 big cord. So yeah the opportunity exists for failure but it’s pretty Darwin level stuff
@@FlawedOffroad you might treat it as one long cord, but not all will. I have already taped mine together so that it is unlikely to happen. If I need 110v, I can just use the adapter from my Everlast.
Attention YesWelder. Give this guy the new model B with more options. He does a great review. And yes if you do get the new model do a pod on just the settings.
Well then now you know. It handles a spool gun and has a manual setting. Since you have a higher end model I'm guessing you've moved on. A question please. Using the old 205 were you using 12 gauge wire and two twenty amp breakers? @@FlawedOffroad
Junk welder had mine for 6 weeks before a mosfet blew up. Called the helpline and they told me I had to send a video to them and purchase info. Haven’t heard from them so I opened it up to see the damage even offered to buy the board, it would be an easy install, but no response from the company.
Keep in mind their support is running your email thru a translation program and if they dont understand what you meant, theres not much theycan do. Might I suggest popping the 14 or so screws out, open it up, and send them a small video like they asked. I did the same thing with my plasma cutter, as it had a bad wire, they helped me out and sent out a new torch. Yeah I see it says you called, try their support email. if nothing else you will get a different person this time that might be more help
Careful on the website, they have 2 versions of the 250 pro. The original that I mentioned, and the new one that’s spool gun capable for a few bucks more! That just came out after I did this video
I hit like as soon as you said you burned up the insulator. It's a 150 amp gun. A 250 amp gun is available. There are weld setting apps I have to use once in a while but honestly in welding school 40 years ago we didn't have them on tge welder but some of us wrote notes on or in the machines. Porosity is likely millscale or low gas flow or extreme weld angle. Clean your metal. Shiny metal wins.
It was too high of gas getting trapped in there, using that glass lens i figured out I had it too high. probably hard to see but I flap disc that piece to bare metal before I started
Thanks for doing this video. I'm in the market for a multi-process welder. I've been eyeing the Everlast Power MTS211 which has a ton of features including HF start and spool gun but it's about a $1000. Truth is I really don't weld as much as I'd like so while it would be nice to have all those great things I'm really be better off getting this and saving a few bucks. I had seen this welder before but couldn't find any long term tests so I didn't know if this thing was for real or a throw away but it looks to be the real thing. Like you I bought those Blue Demon aluminum stick rods. Unlike you I couldn't throw my parts out because in needed them. Talk about ugly. The stuff is stuck together but that's about it.
I just got the mig 250 pro to test out also and I’m gonna be honest. Pay the extra $100 and get that machine it has manual mode and spool gun ready and can even run aluminum wire thru the machine. So far I love it and I’m going to use it for awhile before I do a video on it
@@richmac918 np. Be careful when you check their website they have two different listings one is the old mig 250 pro that is not spool gun ready and the other is the newer version it’s only like $30 more than the old version. I think about 569 roughly plus you can use my discount code. Keep in mind that doesn’t come with the spoolgun you have to buy that separate. Theirs is $199 or you can find one on Amazon for less possibly(euro connector)
Great video. I do have one of these. And I am no means an expert on it. So I will listen to any and all info and advice. You did a great job, and I will look forward to seeing your take on settings. Something I am very weak on.
When I asked in the video if anyone would be interested in a settings video, that was before I recorded myself going over most of the little odds and ends settings anyway, and I made a bunch of welds at different amps an +- volts to show the difference, so I never felt like a separate video would add very much to what I already covered. THanks for checking out the video!
Just won one of these at auction for $160.11 plus another 40 bucks or so for fees and tax and wanted to see what it would do. I'm retired now but have done a lot of welding from stick, mig, dual shield, spot, to heliarc and heliarc fusion welding so I got this to modify a few of my trailers and to just have a new tool to play with. Great video and I did subscribe to your channel.
I will say I’ve never melted the tip or cup but I don’t doubt that would happen on long runs. I’m just saying I can agree most people won’t have this issue
Very nice review, I was wondering if you've used the Mig for any thinner sheet metal work? I am looking to buy a welder to do floor pan and exterior sheet metal patches on my Nova.
Yes and it goes down to about 45 amps. I have done a small patch in a floorboard, not sure the gauge maybe 16? Just don’t run continuous welds. You can run .023, .030 or .035 wire on gas, flux core only goes down to .030
They havent even shipped the "Firstess 5 in 1" kickstarter units yet, they sent out a prototype to certain YT channels, I wasnt an affiliate yet when they did that so I didnt get one.....yet.
What circuit breaker size does this need? The website says this has a 45a input current and the 55DS plasma cutter says they recommend a 63a breaker. How can these be running on 110v with that kind of current?
Because you can’t turn them anywhere close to all the way up on 110 V. You basically get the bottom end of the range on 110. I think you can weld at 145 A or so max on 110. the plasma cutter will blow the 110 circuit after about 20 seconds of cutting even down at 20 amp setting. If you’re looking to do any “serious” welding or cutting you really need 220v
250 pro does weld aluminum, but you have to change out the gun liner to run aluminum wire. Rather than using a spool gun, it loads the aluminum wire directly in the machine. It’s really soft wire so it needs a special liner(think it comes with) it’s about $100 more but has more functionality than the 205. The 205 is still great. I found a way to attach a spool gun to the 205 but it requires hard wiring it inside the welder
I thought about using my electrical/circuitry experience to install a variable speed fan. 100% on trigger pull and 25% at idle but I dont think its worth the hassle
@@n3on170 I’m not sure. 4 feet tall? Can’t recall if it’s 80 or 120 or whatever. Last anywhere from two weeks to six months depending on how much welding I’m doing. but that varies wildly based on the projects I’m doing.
No there is not, but I did modify a spoolgun off of Amazon to work with it. but the results were iffy. There’s a video on my channel about it. Otherwise the 250 pro can take a spool
I used the mig with ALOT of preheat. Like 400+ degrees. It barely connects to the cast though. Just a few spots by the tubes if I recall .Also I did the front axle gussets same way.
I dont use flux core so I dont know, but im sure it does fine. just pay for a gas bottle its so much better experience. Flux sux! haha. Thanks for watchin
I like to weld 1/4" around 170-180 amps and I usually kick the voltage down a few notches to reduce spatter but honestly you can go way lower and just travel slower. Like any welder will tell you, the puddle will tell you everything you need to know 🙃
Great Video Bud, Gained another Follower.! Knowing that the it only does DC on Tig and I did see a comment you made saying you had Successfully made a Spool Gun work, would you still Recommend looking into the Pro Model, or this one is More than Satisfactory? 20amp on the 110 but the whole garage is on 1 circuit so I trip it quite often. there is a 2nd circuit I found in a covered box I plan on tapping into, to split the load. The 220 I believe is 30A from the house panel (attached garage) Funny story, my 220 outlet was actually a generator input plug to supply the house when I moved here. I removed the lockout thing at the panel and turned it into a normal outlet. Not sure on the gauge.
I use a 50 amp breaker on my 220 circuit. For 110, you'd need a dedicated 30 amp circuit...it'll trip on a typical 110V/20 amp circuit. I made a 30 foot long extension cord for the 220 and used #6 wire to be on the safe side (could be overkill, though). Haven't tried it on 110V yet.
On the 205DS, can anyone give a recommended settings for butt welding 1/8" steel plate using 0.30 solid wire with MIG 25/75 gas? With the synergistic setting, seems like I'm laying down too much filler metal on top of the butt joint, rather than fusing the two pieces together. I'd like to go slower and really get the two pieces fused.
What size wire are you using for the various size metal? I tried running 030 wire at 205 and it spits back bad. I turned it down to 155 in order to get it to weld. Do I need to turn my voltage down?
It’s amps not volts on this machine, but yes turn it down. I could never get it to not spit over 180 amps. Maybe on some 1/2” plate or something. I use .035 wire
@@FlawedOffroad Thanks for the Reply. I have a buddy that has 40 years experience on Miller machines and he thought it was the machine. I'll order some .035 and see if I can dial it in. I was getting a lot of crowning with .030 at 155 amps welding 1/4 inch brackets to a 9 inch rear.
i still have this welder but i loaded it with flux core for welding outside. I use the yeswelder 250 pro as my main machine I like it way better(manual settings or synergy, wheras the 205 is only synergetic so you cant dial wire speed and volts seperate)@@MrTechAddiction
I’m still on the original liner 2 years in, but several months ago I started using the 250 pro as my main machine. I can contact YW and ask them if they sell liners
@@FlawedOffroad thanks I contacted them and they said do do not sell one only one for the pro right now. I'm on my second spool and the overhead is terrible. at first my tension wasn't tight enough but then worked great and now back to spitting and sputtering
@@jakewinkler8541 maybe try cleaning the liner or messing with the tension again also, if you have the amperage wrong, it will burn back and feel like the wires slipping

@@joseramirez9932 I do not recommend running an inverter welder off a generator. Maybe an old transformer welder. We’re talking Pennie’s a month unless you’re welding 10 hours a day you aren’t going to notice it. Your gas and wire will cost way more than power
Update.. after 2 weeks and an email a day the only help I got was a picture of a finger pointing at a connector to check... When I asked them what to check with a meter or am I just verifying it was plugged in they replied "we have reviewed the video you sent us again and it's broken and can't be repaired, sorry.". I'm pretty sure I could easily weld aluminum with that thing. Teflon liner, don't bend the whip, start your weld 1-1.5 inches in then pull back to where your fillet actually starts.
Maybe. I modded a spool gun onto this welder in another video and it works but its hard getting the volts and wire speed to match since youre stuck on synergetic settings.
I wasnt even aware there was a new model B. I have the Mig-250 pro now but I still have the 205 in storage
Well then now you know. It handles a spool gun and has a manual setting. Since you have a higher end model I'm guessing you've moved on.
A question please. Using the old 205 were you using 12 gauge wire and two twenty amp breakers? @@FlawedOffroad

Newbie here: Does it do DC tig for aluminum? Their website says "not able to weld aluminum", but people (websites) are often wrong.
I explain all that in the video. It is dc tig for stainless and mild steel. you need AC for aluminum

Very honest review bro.... Will get the 250 Pro.
Careful on the website, they have 2 versions of the 250 pro. The original that I mentioned, and the new one that’s spool gun capable for a few bucks more! That just came out after I did this video
You always go by how it sounds..
Excellent review.
Thanks Eddie!
Thank you for sharing the pros and cons of this welder great Video
@@tonyperez9089 thank you for watching!
Apparently, you can add a spool gun for aluminum to this unit.
Yeah I’m the one that made the video to modify a spool gun onto it😅
I hit like as soon as you said you burned up the insulator.
So far I love it and I’m going to use it for awhile before I do a video on it
@@FlawedOffroad Really? Wasn't expecting this but thanks for letting me know, was just about to buy the other
@@richmac918 np.
I'm retired now but have done a lot of welding from stick, mig, dual shield, spot, to heliarc and heliarc fusion welding so I got this to modify
a few of my trailers and to just have a new tool to play with.
Great video and I did subscribe to your channel.
How's it held up since your comment?
I'd like to see 3/16 (7) on 1/8 (11) lap on a 120 circuit.
2 years later and it looks like YesWelder has fixed all the cons that were mentioned, with the exception of the tip liner melting issue.
I havent tried their updated model. I do have the updated cut55 Pro plasma cutter and so far im loving that
I will say I’ve never melted the tip or cup but I don’t doubt that would happen on long runs. I’m just saying I can agree most people won’t have this issue
it only happened once to me
Video on settings would be awesome!!!
Honestly I covered most of it already in this video. I have upgraded to the 250 pro since then anyway
Hi excellent video. How is it with flux core?
Very nice review, I was wondering if you've used the Mig for any thinner sheet metal work? I am looking to buy a welder to do floor pan and exterior sheet metal patches on my Nova.
Yes and it goes down to about 45 amps. I have done a small patch in a floorboard, not sure the gauge maybe 16? Just don’t run continuous welds. You can run .023, .030 or .035 wire on gas, flux core only goes down to .030
@@FlawedOffroad thanks big help. I've been trying to decide between the Titanium Mig 170 (when its on sale) vs the 205DS. This review has helped!
GREAT IDEA !!! ........ SETTINGS.
Hey there new 5/1 multipurpose welder is worst ! They need to improve so hopefully they will be listening 💯💪🇺🇸👍
They havent even shipped the "Firstess 5 in 1" kickstarter units yet, they sent out a prototype to certain YT channels, I wasnt an affiliate yet when they did that so I didnt get one.....yet.
Helpful to me, I like the welder.
Glad it helped
Should I get this one or the pro one???? Getting either one soon!!

It is good for the price hate that it’s a single dial so you can’t fine tune that alone would make this 10 times better.
100 bucks more you can get the 250 Pro and it has full manual controls
So if you ever want to do aluminum should you get the pro? If I have 240v already
What is the thinnest and thickest metal you can weld? Thank you
Its a skill thing but it welds 3/8" pretty well, even though the chart isnt really rated for 3/8". As for thin stuff thats all in the technique
Amazing video dude from your video it seems to be an awesome little welder. Thanks 👍
It’s got a few quirks but for the price it’s hard to beat what you get
Needs fan on demand!
I thought about using my electrical/circuitry experience to install a variable speed fan. 100% on trigger pull and 25% at idle but I dont think its worth the hassle
I want a review on that welding helmet. Is it a face shield and weld hood?
its very clear and not green but its still a tint. it also had a grind mode(non darkening) and a plasma cut mode(lighter shade)
Small farmer and fabrication on 40’ containers
curious question. Did you swap your ground to positive to try and weld the aluminum? Is that maybe why? I do not know, just asking.
Oh when I tried stick welding the aluminum? Its been a year so im not sure but I think left it on DCEP.
I used DCEN on the tig and some other stuff
good stuff Dan

How big is your argon tank and how long does it last you?
@@n3on170 I’m not sure. 4 feet tall? Can’t recall if it’s 80 or 120 or whatever. Last anywhere from two weeks to six months depending on how much welding I’m doing. but that varies wildly based on the projects I’m doing.
Fantastic video!!! Great video showcasing the product.

Excellent review 👍
Thanks!
Multiple pass get you to weld thicker material 💯
After I did this video I welded to 1/2" and 1", used a triple pass and it worked great
Is there a aluminum spool gun for this welder? Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving!
No there is not, but I did modify a spoolgun off of Amazon to work with it. but the results were iffy. There’s a video on my channel about it. Otherwise the 250 pro can take a spool
Did you use stick or MiG to weld your truss to the cast steel center section of the axle?
I used the mig with ALOT of preheat. Like 400+ degrees. It barely connects to the cast though. Just a few spots by the tubes if I recall .Also I did the front axle gussets same way.
I have a Lincoln 180 mig and want to be able to tig weld. Would It be worth it to sell the 180 and buy this welder???
Please anyone??
Its a good welder for sure. The tig on this machine is only steel and stainless steel, if you want to tig aluminum you need to find an AC tig machine
So has it paid for it self in a years time ?
Many times over
What welding cart did you purchase? Thank you
it was the cheapest cart available at harbor frieght
Excellent video. How is it with flux core?
I dont use flux core so I dont know, but im sure it does fine. just pay for a gas bottle its so much better experience. Flux sux! haha. Thanks for watchin

@@FlawedOffroad which welder did you upgrade too?
@@julianfish2173 the mig 250 pro from yeswelder. Very similar but better in every way
Well it does not have dual voltage it’s 220 only so that’s the main drawback but otherwise it’s better across the board
Also very informative 👍
Glad you think so!
What settings would you recommend for welding tube steel with 1/4 inch wall?
I like to weld 1/4" around 170-180 amps and I usually kick the voltage down a few notches to reduce spatter but honestly you can go way lower and just travel slower. Like any welder will tell you, the puddle will tell you everything you need to know 🙃
I just got one of these and tried adjusting the wire diameter after I loaded it with 0.8 flux core wire and could not. Is there a workaround to this?
If I remember correctly, .035 is the smallest setting for flux core on this welder which is .9
Thanks for the in-depth review. I found it very informative.
Glad it was helpful!

What is your 110 breaker size and 220 breaker size? I've got 20A 110 and was about to run a 10/2 30A 220 but am second guessing if that's enough.
Followup - I ran a new 50 amp 220 line. PITA because I had to remove drywall, but run wasn't that long and I'm glad I did it now.
Try around 120 amps
lets get the video on the settings PLEASEEEEEEE. this video is off the hoooook on info

What cfh do you run?
Around 18. I’ve tried as high as 25 and low as 15. I turn it down a bit for the thin stuff.
@@FlawedOffroad Do you use .035 wire for everything?
pretty much yeah. I have some .030 but rarely use it, always had better luck with 035 @@MrTechAddiction
