    I started this year 41 years old, 23 stone and a horrible golfer. I'm still a horrible golfer (yet to break 100) but having lessons to improve whilst dropping to 16st 3lb. Nothing is impossible, I'll have that 99 or lower in 2021!!
    Merry Xmas James & co. All the best for 2021. Thank you for giving us free golf content to enjoy in this most horrible of years 👍

    I just calculated my handicap for my last 5 rounds I’ve played. Just learned how to do it. It’s quite high. I have one 96, a 106, 104, 98 and 108. I’m supposed to use the best 1 round from that. (If I had 10 rounds I would use the best 3). They are all at the same course with a rating of 69.4 and a slope of 117. I actually did use 3 scores for this. Using the he correct handicap calculations I have a handicap of about 28. I really want to get it under 20 this year.

    I broke 100 about a 2 months ago for the first time and I haven’t looked back since not shot over 100 since then and my biggest tips to my friends who are also trying to do the same is PMA “positive mental attitude” people get frustrated with golf because they can’t do it like other people or like the pros on telly but everyone just need to enjoy it and take it in! No where better than a golf course in my eyes! Merry Christmas James your content has really helped me this year not just with tips but with your calm and casual way to play the game on your vlogs👍 keep it up bro I respect your dedication to golf and content creation. As a practitioner of some experience ... bogey is a great score to play for, and by that I mean not simply "accepting" a bogey, but planning for it in the manner you approach the hole. Anywhere in reasonable range (for you) to get on the green in regulation +1 is fine.

    • @tedzink4574
      @tedzink4574 3 года назад

      Planning out each hole is a good way to break, 100, 90, or 80. Reducing the mistakes, staying smart, following the plan, will get you to where you want to be.

    Certainly think as a higher handicap golfer (new system has given me 5 extra shots) playing to your strengths and accepting you'll have tge odd bad hole helps, there's always the chance to make pars and birdies especially on par 3's and short par 4's, its a case of limiting the mistakes on the tougher holes

    • @sandersson2813
      @sandersson2813 3 года назад

      So true. How often do you see high handicappers losing their shit over a bad shot.
      They have to accept it will happen because their ability guarantees lots of bad shots.
      They should be happy when they hit a good shot but not expecting to and not worry about the bad ones as if they shouldn't happen

  • @richardsdiaz1

    That was a thoroughly entertaining video! You should bring Will on the Chanel a few times a year so we can see his progress!
    My advice to him to take the next step would be to:
    1). Work on his short game! Makes a huge difference when you know you can get it reasonably close from any lie and any situation
    2) develop partial shots from 150. Yds and in. If you learn, say 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 swings and chart your distances with each you could have a number you could reliably hit in 5 to 10 yd increments from 150 to around 25yds!
    3) lessons! You’ll get better a lot faster if you have a watchful eye to guide you!
    To me those were they keys to breaking 90! Getting under 80 is just a refinement of those concepts!
    God luck Will! Hope to see you on the channel again soon!

    Two tips that have made the biggest impact on helping me break 100 every time. 1. Think about my shot when I’m behind the ball looking at the wind and where I need my shot to go and commit to the shot and when I get over the ball turn off the swing thoughts and see the picture of where I want the ball to land. (This helps avoid negative thoughts like “don’t go in the woods” “avoid the water”). The second thing: pitch and roll near the green-Practice pitching everyday at home.

    Also I've found to play bogey as my par. Just use your shot wisely. You will be surprised at how many pars putts you will have by not chasing par. Also work on 120yds and in. That's helped me alot going from 27hcp in January to 16 now. My last 2 rounds have been 78 and 79.

    • @iCharlie93
      @iCharlie93 3 года назад +2

      Not necessarily. Golfers play to their handicap or better about 20% to 35% of the time (lower the handicap, the higher percentage). Handicaps are also worked out against your best 8 scores of your last 20 rounds. So a 23 handicap playing a par 72 course could have had scores in the 100+ region 12/20 of his last rounds. If his best 8 average about 95, he'll have a 23 handicap.
