- HOW THIS 23 HANDICAP GOLFER NOW BREAKS 100... EVERY TIME! We all want to be good at golf, want a low handicap, want to shoot low golf scores, Break 80 every time... break 90 every time? for this golfer... it was all about breaking 100 every time. Sometimes our own targets seem the most difficult. in his video we look at how a 23 handicap golfer has managed to start breaking 100 more times than not... What do you need to do to make sure you can break 100 every time you play golf? considering this a high handicap golf guide to break 100... let's find out... and let's do it now!
I started this year 41 years old, 23 stone and a horrible golfer. I'm still a horrible golfer (yet to break 100) but having lessons to improve whilst dropping to 16st 3lb. Nothing is impossible, I'll have that 99 or lower in 2021!!
Merry Xmas James & co. All the best for 2021. Thank you for giving us free golf content to enjoy in this most horrible of years 👍
Love that! Awesome work Ben! Same to you!
How u doin now ben?
@@christopherwinoski1132 Came out of lockdown and have been working on my Driver. Hitting 220+ off the tee now but yet to see an upturn in scoring. Still super inconsistant but feel like I'm on the right track. Thanks for checking in! 👍
@@boucherb1908 keep us updated when you do 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m looking to try and break 100, my best game so far was 100 right on the money usually average 104-107
hey i know its been a while i hope your doing great bro
I just calculated my handicap for my last 5 rounds I’ve played. Just learned how to do it. It’s quite high. I have one 96, a 106, 104, 98 and 108. I’m supposed to use the best 1 round from that. (If I had 10 rounds I would use the best 3). They are all at the same course with a rating of 69.4 and a slope of 117. I actually did use 3 scores for this. Using the he correct handicap calculations I have a handicap of about 28. I really want to get it under 20 this year.
Love it when you have higher handicap golfers on, so relatable. Add Foxy and Chris, show us the advice you give, perfect vlog.
I really like the mid to high handicapper content!!
I broke 100 about a 2 months ago for the first time and I haven’t looked back since not shot over 100 since then and my biggest tips to my friends who are also trying to do the same is PMA “positive mental attitude” people get frustrated with golf because they can’t do it like other people or like the pros on telly but everyone just need to enjoy it and take it in! No where better than a golf course in my eyes! Merry Christmas James your content has really helped me this year not just with tips but with your calm and casual way to play the game on your vlogs👍 keep it up bro I respect your dedication to golf and content creation. Hardest working person on RUclips I watch by a mile! Peace out brother and stay safe💪
Good seeing Will back on the channel and he is certainly playing well 👏👏
Hi James. I always thought a low handicap was 0-9, Mid 10-20, high 20+ . Merry Christmas Everyone
1-9 is low, 0 is scratch
Well done will , good to see you back on the channel
As a practitioner of some experience ... bogey is a great score to play for, and by that I mean not simply "accepting" a bogey, but planning for it in the manner you approach the hole. Anywhere in reasonable range (for you) to get on the green in regulation +1 is fine.
Planning out each hole is a good way to break, 100, 90, or 80. Reducing the mistakes, staying smart, following the plan, will get you to where you want to be.
Massive improvement for Will in temperament now he's gaining in consistency.
The angry golfer becomes the steady shooter.
Great video and decent golf, cheers Robbo.
How much his game and confidence has improved, it was great to see. All the best for Christmas and New Year, let us all hope that we manage to get rid off this virus and life returns to normality soon.
Great video and well done on your handicap Will. Great camera work from you both, I know into sun is nightmare for golf shots but stunning to look at and the course looks fantastic. Great content all year in such a difficult year for everybody, so have a very Happy Christmas and here's to a better 2021.
According to the golf gps swing u app my us handicap is around 50, my biggest weakness has always been my putting
Drivers been getting better each year, short games good for most part, its the 4 to 5 puts keeping me from 90s to 80s
Merry Christmas James
Certainly think as a higher handicap golfer (new system has given me 5 extra shots) playing to your strengths and accepting you'll have tge odd bad hole helps, there's always the chance to make pars and birdies especially on par 3's and short par 4's, its a case of limiting the mistakes on the tougher holes
So true. How often do you see high handicappers losing their shit over a bad shot.
They have to accept it will happen because their ability guarantees lots of bad shots.
They should be happy when they hit a good shot but not expecting to and not worry about the bad ones as if they shouldn't happen
That was a thoroughly entertaining video! You should bring Will on the Chanel a few times a year so we can see his progress!
My advice to him to take the next step would be to:
1). Work on his short game! Makes a huge difference when you know you can get it reasonably close from any lie and any situation
2) develop partial shots from 150. Yds and in. If you learn, say 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 swings and chart your distances with each you could have a number you could reliably hit in 5 to 10 yd increments from 150 to around 25yds!
3) lessons! You’ll get better a lot faster if you have a watchful eye to guide you!
To me those were they keys to breaking 90! Getting under 80 is just a refinement of those concepts!
God luck Will! Hope to see you on the channel again soon!
I can't help but find it funny that will's best mate is a professional golfer (James Robinson) and you're trying to give him a lesson over the internet, in writing 😅
I was a no golf shoes for life dude. But i have changed this year. Its so much easier on the long clubs where you need that little extra stability you get from them
I'm in the same situation as William got down to 22 at the end of the summer. Only broken 90 once. I've always seen mid handicap as maybe 20-10 and single-digit as a low handicap. Unfortunately can't golf all year where I live in Canada. Can't even go to indoor ranges right now cause we are on lockdown here.
I always appreciate the banter. I appreciate his honesty as well. Merrry Xmas!
Merry Christmas James. Discovered the channel this year in lockdown and watched every video since. Keep up the good work 2021
P790’s arrived this morning. Fantastic range session. Very pleased. Great video James. Merry Christmas!
Your putting saved you... it always comes down to the flat stick. Merry crimble.
Merry Christmas mate. Looks like a new hybrid is on the way finally. Let’s see a match with Chris.
Better shots from you today James nice to see . MERRY Christmas and happy new year
Cheers Andrew! You too buddy!
really nice seeing a higher handicap player and really great match between the two of you. my new year resolution as a 30 handicap I would love to knock it down to low 20's next year and to break 100 for the first time!! Great content as always and good to see there is hope to get better next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
He really is getting better. Good to see. BTW, still waiting on the video series where you coach Laura to break 100. When does that start??????
As long as we don’t kill each other first lol!
It's an interesting swing he's got, But it's obviously working for him. The slowing down the swing tip is something I desperately need to get through my head, Guilty of trying too hard for no good reason after nice, Smooth practice swings.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you James and all the others that make this channel great
Merry Christmas guys, good to see William making progress looking forward to the 2021 content
Merry Christmas you old scrote 😀 May 2021 be so much better.
Hahahaha you too dude
Nice one. I’m off 13 and my target is always to break 90. I don’t always do it. 93 is a great effort in winter conditions.
Two tips that have made the biggest impact on helping me break 100 every time. 1. Think about my shot when I’m behind the ball looking at the wind and where I need my shot to go and commit to the shot and when I get over the ball turn off the swing thoughts and see the picture of where I want the ball to land. (This helps avoid negative thoughts like “don’t go in the woods” “avoid the water”). The second thing: pitch and roll near the green-Practice pitching everyday at home.
New golfer as well
I spent a good while at a range to get swinging confident
Since starting on my local course far my rounds have gone..
103, 101, 97, 95, 88, 85, 77
I'm scared to go hack now because 77 felt like a freak round and going round again will ruin the downward trend haha!
Hi James, enjoyed Vlog very much. Good advice shared by Will. Enjoy festive season. Merry Christmas buddy.
Also I've found to play bogey as my par. Just use your shot wisely. You will be surprised at how many pars putts you will have by not chasing par. Also work on 120yds and in. That's helped me alot going from 27hcp in January to 16 now. My last 2 rounds have been 78 and 79.
Great to see someone playing like me
We can be solid just sometimes we mess up shots loose balls etc
Great video... I can relate because this is my game. Thanks for the share and Merry Christmas 🎄 ⛳️🏌️♂️
My whole year has been an up and down one. I finally broke 100 for the first time ever in April, and then all year I would be just above or just under. I have to work on my consistency.
Good man! Merry Christmas!
@@JamesRobinsonGolf merry Christmas to you and the family also. Please stay safe and healthy and have a prosperous new year!
Great job on getting your handicap down Will. Thanks for the tips. James, please get mics, or something. It’s so difficult to hear everyone in your videos.
Need a shirt that just says "I hit a fade now, do you know?"
Really enjoyed that thnx James - I’m on a similar journey!!
Happy Christmas James. Thanks for keeping me entertained. Great video as usual. Incidentally although we live in Gloucestershire, the wife is from Golcar 👍 👍 😀
Yup, more nuggets James 👍. Trust you are having a few days off...
Great video James! My key to staying under 100 was keeping the ball on play off the tee box. Any recommendations on how to get under 90?
Loving the content Lad, Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas James and all your mates especial Chris Dennis Foxy and Liam. To you and your family the best and healthy new year.
i know with covid it could be difficult, but what about a match between Will & Foxy ?
Ha! Channeling your inner Tiger after making that long putt? Another great video!
Looking smooth Will
My kids used to 4 putt every green when younger. Sole focus was putting and took 36 shots off there handicap by 2 putting. Drive for show putt for dough.
I'm extremely curious as to how pros handle playing with mates that are new to golf, or struggling. How do you not throw in a swing tip here or there? Maybe you do but it's not in the vid?
A 23 handicap should be a mid 90s golfer. Always breaking 100 should be normal.
Not necessarily. Golfers play to their handicap or better about 20% to 35% of the time (lower the handicap, the higher percentage). Handicaps are also worked out against your best 8 scores of your last 20 rounds. So a 23 handicap playing a par 72 course could have had scores in the 100+ region 12/20 of his last rounds. If his best 8 average about 95, he'll have a 23 handicap.
Keep the content coming and merry Christmas m8 👍
This year whenever the courses are busy(well most anytime nowadays) there’s always a group that just yell and scream on every green. It’s totally not needed. I just don’t get it. They’ll scream and holler on 1 green and you think, “okay must’ve been a outstanding shot”. Then they do it every hole. I’ll just never understand it.
He’s got some nice gear, especially the putter
Im off 25 and I tend to count anything over 18 as high. Anything between 10 and 18 as mid and anything in single figures as low handicaps. Just a personal thing.
hi james i played golf today and i shot 18 under par my handycap is 25.8
What is the temperature there? Looks refreshing. 13° F here today. In Wisconsin USA.
2 degrees. So cold
Very nice video. Question for Will. What golf app are you using on the Apple Watch? How well do you like it and does it cost anything to use?
Hello again James. Love your channel! He has a Great practice swing! I see this alot with guys I play with. His Actual swing is kinda low level pre- Barkley looking... Please fix him??
I feel taking advantage of all the tech is pretty beneficial for newer golfers. Since getting a handheld gps, Im more strategic on the course and less swing thought minded, which helps me relax and view golf differently. It’s funny, I think I was more excited about setting my pb for longest amount of holes without losing a ball than I was my lowest score.
Merry Christmas James!
Happy Christmas
You too John!
Great video janes more videos with will. 👍
How often does someone hit a car at that course?
What watch is will using
Off white laces on the course.. 🔥
Is that fixby golf course in Huddersfield
Hey James, great content, I try n watch everything you put out, do you get many requests to play in charity events from normal people like myself?
Can you break 100 with a 36 handicap?
Hi James. I see William using an Apple Watch for GPS distances on course. May I ask what app he is using? Merry Christmas everyone!!
Low key I hate being asked a question when I’m about to be over the ball putting/ driving. Throws you off the shot your about to take but I know “he could have stepped back”
Fun video.
Greg Norman, years ago, said that losing the 'agro' after a bad shot will help your game. It appears to be sound advice.
What app is Will using for his apple watch? Could do with something like that
I would class a 22 handicapper as high handicap, they either can’t hit it consistently or have a major swing flaw, unless significantly aged. That said I’ve been down to ten and never knew where the ball was going to land...
Well Done keep it up
Chippy Pitchy...you’ve been hanging around Liam too long.
Merry Christmas from Dallas!
What’s does for the “ half “ mean ? New to golf
James, where did you get your cap??
Did you walk off without your phone on the last green tho...?
Will might need less time on the range and more time on the putting green lol good job bringing down the HC mate.
If the sun is that position in the sky at 10.00am over Huddersfield, we've got bigger problems than Covid to worry about. 🤣
What watch is he using?
How come u poms don’t use push trolley very much ?
Did you pick your phone up James
James 'clutch putter' Robinson
I didn't see you pick up that phone.....😂😂
Shout out to the grint app
What app on his watch does he use ?
Grint mate
@@JamesRobinsonGolf cheers
Breaking 100 is all about having a relatively consistent ball strike. If you consistently hit fat or thin then you've go not chance.
Did you pick your phone up
A 10 handicapper can shoot an average of 90, it depends on the course/ slope reading
William needs to practice his putting. Winter in door conditioning
With all the black clothes and hat, you could be “Dark Fader”! Lol
hopefully you didn't forget your phone on the side of the green.
I would love a 23 handicap lol. Can't break 100 been trying for 20 years 🤣
Were you telling someone not to use a lob wedge?? Do as I say not as I do lol..
People say I shouldn't let voices or noises bother me. It's funny how they get right inside my head and rattle around in there. :-)
I hoped you picked up your phone!😳
I think we know where William needs to spend his practice time, and his teaching money ....
Forgot your phone...
