    The fabulous 55. Of all the saws I own- and that's dozens for those wondering- I still adore the 55. Mightier than it appears and hidden as a homeowner saw- it's rugged, dependable, easy to work on- parts readily available. In my mind everyone should own one. And- there's no mistaking the sound of a 55. It has a unique hum.

      I feel the same way.. except I ended up with a pile (3 or 4) 51's. One is probably going to get an OEM 55 jug though unless my mind changes. Found a later model 51 with few miles that someone straight gassed that needs a second chance at life.

    Sweet little 55👍🏻 Before you discovered the lack of go juice, I was thinking maby the sealant between case and cylinder wasn't cured enough before you ran it. Boy those stihl hats sure do make huskys run good!😂

    I've had a 51 for over 25 years. It's been very dependable. Besides common maintenance, I've only had to replace chain and fuel line. It's a workhorse!

    I have a lot of sentiment for that saws. My grandfather bought one and she lasted for 25 years without a problem. Damn they made chainsaws back then! :D And i love the sound of this fabulous machine. Since i was a child i loved the sound cause i knew im gonna be chopping some wood soon ;) Can't mistake them or the 51 model, also great one. Wish i had a skill to rebuild one, maybe some day.

    I think those are pretty well rounded little saws. Great for firewood, ground crew, and all around saw for clean up. They have good low end power and I like that about them. That on runs great! Got her tuned in and she rips just like it should!

    Dumb question because parts could come from any model but, Is there a way 2 tell if it's a closed or open port from the decals(Rancher vs Air Injection)?

    • @jackylsmith8138
      @jackylsmith8138 Год назад +1

      Pretty much all huskies are air injection.

    • @Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws
      @Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws Год назад +1

      @@jackylsmith8138 What I'm asking is there a difference in the decals between the open port cylinder version vs the closed port cylinder version? Some version of the 55 only say Air Injection and others have Rancher on them also.

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Год назад +3

      Doc, it will definitely be an Air Injection model. None of the Ranchers came with a closed port. Also, the ones without a compression release actually had higher compression for the open port cylinders. The only way to tell if it is a closed port cylinder is there will be a bunch of X's on the bottom of the cylinder all in a row. Like this: XXXXXXXX. I don't know how easy it is to see that on a saw that is assembled. Tomorrow I'll probably be porting my closed port cylinder and I'll have all that stuff in the video.

    • @Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws
      @Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws Год назад

      @@novicelumberjack Good 2 know and thanks 4 the reply, could make one a little more valuable 2 me if I come across any. In one of your early videos you were pondering a Partner 5K, Jred 490/590 cylinder swap 2 the 55 chassis. Did you ever go down that rabbit whole?

    • @mattfleming86
      @mattfleming86 Год назад +1

      @@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws I'd love to see someone do it. Sadly the closed port cylinders are soo few and far between.

    Is it worth rebuilding a 350?

    • @ericvortex5213
      @ericvortex5213 7 месяцев назад

      a 350 is much more fragile, bearings are held in a plastic housing... 50, 51, and 55 are really very strong and powerful.
