Is rendering the primary use for versioning? My thought was to color grade a clip a few times and then compare them to choose the best. How to compare is the question. Can we wipe from one to the other?
You can use if for which ever purpose you need it for. Certainly for comparing your grades. I've seen it used mostly for different looks for a scene etc. Where you can then choose the overall look based on the versions you created. If you grab a still you could wipe versions. But I believe that feature is on the giant $27K Advanced Panel. You could grab each still and rename them. Or make your own shortcut keys. Would be a nice option to have by default.
