I was going to buy one but it comes down to 90$ shipping to Canada... Sadly I'll have to pass, but those bad boys look incredible. Hopefully I'll get a chance to grab something in the future
@@guyfawkesuThe1 The wedge sole is quite comfy for those on concrete. Not sure why you think that. Not to mention using your own insole. This form of true moccasin construction does not lend itself to a steel toe.
@@guyfawkesuThe1 Lol, wedges are great for standing all day depending on your foot. That is why many tradesmen use them. See RW, Thorogood, etc making wedge soles. I see them all the time.
For a brand that pays SA minimum wage, $1.45/h, and has its own tannery, it should not be the same price as American or European brands. Insane profit margins. You can get GYW boots with the best leathers in the world from Grant Stone on sale for that price. You can get many brands with the same components (if you spend the time researching brands), GYW or stitchdown for a lower price since they don't source leathers from renowned tanneries, just like Jim Green.
Wearing my African rangers while watching this. They became my absolute favorite pair of boot/shoe I’ve ever worn the day I got them. Will definitely try to grab a pair of these beauties.
I love it. You had me at wide toe box. I've been waiting for a decade for a wide heritage boot. You guys and your skinny feet and tight pants have screwed up the men's footwear market for long enough.
You guys are awesome! Just ordered these for all my guys at work. I wear the barefoot troopers full time, wear jk bisons for line work, these will be perfect for everything we do! So grateful you guys are doing these collabs!
Convince Jim Green to make these 670-1 compliant (95% of the way there, in my opinion) and in coyote brown! I got two pairs of Jim Greens and my only complaint is that I can't wear them everyday! The amount of money I've spent on boots for work over the years make the price of the Rugged African Troopers look like a steal.
Thanks @RoseAnvil Team! Been a Jim Green fan ever since your African Rangers video. Current Jim Green Collection: Brown African Rangers, Buffalo African Rangers, Steel Toe Razorbacks, Razorbacks with the Oringo Sole, Khaki Vellies, Houston Brown Shoellies, Brown Barefoot African Rangers, Custom Baobabs, Custom Stockman, and Barefoot African Troopers!
One error I noticed in the construction analysis. Jim Green just stitches the upper leather to the middle and slip sole. In the video it says the lining is stitched down as well but that's not the case. The lining leather is hand lasted and glued to the bottom of the leather insole, then the upper is glued directly to the lining leather before the upper is stitched down. Jim Green's channel has videos showing these boots being made.
Honestly your best collab yet. Great price. Truly unique and wanted product. May even just be a regular boot that is offered in the future. Can’t wait to get a batch 3 with some bonus money
Man I wish I needed more boots! I went boot crazy in January and bought four pairs. I work in an office so they will last a long time. 😢 This is insane for $300!
I think that with the right marketing these could prove to be one helluva popular work boot that sells extremely well for JG. These are absolutely going to see steady sales, but if they can really get these onto the feet of people who need them most they're going to take off like a rocket. I'd like to have a need for a pair of these , but I've currently got all the bases covered and they'd be just another boot I only bought because I wanted them. I'm hoping to be working a different job next year that I hate less, and if that job doesn't limit me with the requirement of oil & slip resistant boots I just may find myself needing a pair of these.
These look great! Love the details! Also as an aside, Canada West boots out of Winnipeg, Canada make wide toebox work boots. Would love to see a breakdown of those!
I love my barefoot troopers, but they can be hard underfoot in an urban environment. Picked up a pair of these as soon as I saw the link. Very excited for these!
These are awesome! I wish wide toe boxes were easier to come by. I would love if i could find a pair that i could wear in uniform: all black, all leather, and steel toe. My feet are always killing me after a few hours in uniform.
My dude! Awesome, amazing boot! I definitely want a pair but in the fudge color with the honeycomb color sole. You guys need to do a run of those when Jim Green figures them soles out ❤
I love them, and I'm onboard, and I would buy a pair, BUT, I currently have THREE pair of Jim Greens to wear through, AND a pair of Whites that need resoled, before I can even consider ordering another set of work boots.
Would love you to review boots from William Lennon & Co in the uk. While not a wide toe box, they are hand made, heritage construction and you can get some steel toes for £125 !! (160ish USD inc taxes within the UK) The only thing that sucks is that all their boots are made to order and takes at least 3 WEEKS for them to ship (or Urban Shepard in portugal for their dressier boots) Love my Jim Green AR8s BTW.. Few things I would change about them but man are they comfy and tough.
I love my barefoot ARs, but i mostly wear them around town and the tread wore down at the ball and heel in about 7 months. Still wearable, not yet time for a resole, but i try to save them for when I won't be on so much concrete.
Just orderebla a pair in Hudson black for December shipping. Leather balm a must. 2nd pair i have brown ar8 and been dreaming of this release. Congrats to rose anvil and jim green
I have had a pair of the original release you had with the African ranger for a while now and I have roofed in them last few months wearing them every single day nearly and I’m only now getting sorta close to a resole, and one stitch that went bad
What's up with the leather midsole being the natural color in the black version instead of black like you showed in your previous video though? Will those be released in the second batch or are there no intentions to release them.
Man I bought some JG rangers after your first video and they were like slippers. And not in a good way. Luckily the company sent me a free pair of more rugged boots. I still hate the extra material in the tongue but after 2 visits to my local cobbler I’ve made them work for me.
I’m skeptically hopeful. I had the roughout Vellies for a year. Mind you, I’m wide-footed, and actually ordered a half-size up. My left pinkie toe flares out and makes it extra wide. After technically a few months of wear, my pinkie toe rubbed out the leather and made a hole. I chalk this to the leather being WAY too soft, and possibly the grain not being tight enough or thick enough. But I consider myself an outlier, so I never contacted Jim Green about my concerns since no one else had reported this problem.
If I didn't already have 2 pairs of razorbacks, 2 pairs of stockman's, and a pair of the original ARs I'd probably grab a pair of these, if I ever get another pair of jim greens it will probably be when they finally release the moc toes.
Im not in the military anymore but i bet our folks that are still serving would love a boot like this if yall made it in the colors the military has to have, just food for thought because as a ex infantryman i always bought better boots than the military gave us
Love my African troopers, BEST fitting boot I've ever worn. Any chance of getting a wide toe-box boot with a safety toe? My hobbit feet won't fit normal work boots.
I have no need for another pair of boots, but if I did, these are pretty cool. Now make it a steel toe for all the guys that are required to wear them. Good steel toes are hard to find.
My biggest challenge is not finding good boots but finding a traditional boot that’s water proof and has a safety toe. Thorogood is close but they only have a steel toe and the it’s a problem with cold winter temps. Edit- specifically I’m talking about the moc toe from thorogood
You've got to tell Jim Green to add more big toe space on their barefoot last. The toebox is barely wider than my Merrells and nowhere near the room I have on Vivobarefoot boots. The toebox on Jim Green's boots just tapers inward way too much still.
I wear a 13 4E. After trying a 13.5 and 14 African Rangers, but finding them too narrow, I contacted JG and found that their wide width boots are 3E, Great for most people, but not wide enough for me. Any chance we will see a JG boot in 4E width. They would corner the market if they did, as no one currently makes leather boots in this width and at JG's price point and quality.
Lol, this would never happen. There is a reason why no one makes boots in your size because there isn't enough demand for production. Why would they invest in a new last for a whopping 3 new sales?
Any plan on adding a similar internal heel counter on the barefoot trooper in the future? Exposed stitching in the most fragile part of the boot is not great, or so i learned watching rose anvil videos.
Normally I run in 12EE; so it sounds like I could just simply drop into a 12 and go. I’m no longer fetching rail freight and working for the city. No more heals for me. They do offer a wedge sole; more along the lines of a moc toe would be great. Tired of the big name brand; tried rock n rooster boots. Learned after break period; didn’t need the wide. Should’ve stayed in a standard….
Those are pretty good looking boots but I can't wear anything but the JG zero-drop barefoot boots. Got barefoot Rangers and barefoot Troopers. North Florida riverswamps are not good for double-lasted boots.

Sweet, just what I was hoping you guys were working on. Will there be a 6inch version, hard toe options?
Day 256 of asking for this boot but with a wedge sole, 6”, moc toe, and safety toe (unfortunately required by employer).
Jim Green is gonna be extremely busy
I was going to buy one but it comes down to 90$ shipping to Canada... Sadly I'll have to pass, but those bad boys look incredible. Hopefully I'll get a chance to grab something in the future
Wow that is impressive construction for the price. JG is knocking it out of the park recently.
I guess walking and standing on concrete was not a consideration! This boot is for people in and out of trucks. No steel toe?
@@guyfawkesuThe1 The wedge sole is quite comfy for those on concrete. Not sure why you think that. Not to mention using your own insole. This form of true moccasin construction does not lend itself to a steel toe.
@@TommyNitro No wedge here. You would kill your feet if you had to stand in these boots on concrete all day.

Haha! Me, too!
This is great looking, well made, accessible boot!! Thanks Rose Anvil & Jim Green!!
I love it. You had me at wide toe box. I've been waiting for a decade for a wide heritage boot. You guys and your skinny feet and tight pants have screwed up the men's footwear market for long enough.
Just get EE, EEE lol
@@applejuice9468 I"m gonna be real with you, a red wing EE or a Thorogood "EE" is still narrower than Jim Greens standard last. It's frustrating.
You guys are helping Jim green go to the next level and they will be dominating the boot market in no time
We need a batch of these with toe caps!!!
I would love that too.
Plus one more. Flesh out caps and shafts and a smooth vamp.
You guys are awesome! Just ordered these for all my guys at work. I wear the barefoot troopers full time, wear jk bisons for line work, these will be perfect for everything we do!
So grateful you guys are doing these collabs!
AR8 is a great boot, happy to see details that would normally require a custom order on the normal shelf
Wore my AR8s to a KoRn concert recently. Had a great time.
Convince Jim Green to make these 670-1 compliant (95% of the way there, in my opinion) and in coyote brown!

I have the steel toe razorbacks for my work, I needed something with a safety toe and EH rated and they fit the bill and are great
Exactly. I’d pay 500+ for these in 670-1.

Big Fan of Jim Green. Got mine ordered.
Hats off to Jim Green!
Looks great! Is there gonna be a 6 inch version?
add a steel toe and I'm sold
You could probably order a pair like that through their boot customisation service.

Impressive! Especially for that price. I really love how much leather there is under foot and way around heel counter. Quite creative
Love what you're doing bro. Hopefully one day ill be in the same boat 💯
Got mine ordered! Thanks for the kilties too, so nice to not have laces digging into the top of my feet anymore when crouching.
Honestly your best collab yet. Great price. Truly unique and wanted product. May even just be a regular boot that is offered in the future. Can’t wait to get a batch 3 with some bonus money
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Will definitely be saving up for these. Good stuff
I'm going to start manifesting me a pair, maybe I can materialize by batch 3. Very excited to know there are good obtainable boots out there.
They are making 2 different versions of the mock toe boot as well......JG is killin it
Man I wish I needed more boots! I went boot crazy in January and bought four pairs. I work in an office so they will last a long time. 😢

I love my JG barefoot rangers. Now i know what i want for Christmas!
I legitimately just thought of looking for a wide toe work boot. Perfect timing
I love my barefoot troopers, but they can be hard underfoot in an urban environment. Picked up a pair of these as soon as I saw the link. Very excited for these!
Toss in a Spenco comfort insert they don't take up too much space and make the boots feel much better
So many things I like about these boots. Big fan of Jim Green!

Good question. I bought the black versions and would like to know what it will look like when I get it 😅

If anyones wondering, the roughout fudge ages like really nicely but quite slow

I really want this boot!
But I've spend way too much on your collaborations recently 🙈
Can you please produce a "Lundhags Vandra II Mid Wide" but with with zero drop? The world of hikers would be yours...
this one really looks solid, and for 300 bucks that should be a no brainer...
GOD bless you Weston.
