- A San Leandro middle school teacher was removed from campus this week after district officials learned of allegations that he used inappropriate language while addressing students in class. Cheryl Hurd reports.

You would be shocked at how disrespectful and disruptive middle school kids can be. Schools need a system where those kids can be removed from the classroom, so a teacher can teach the rest.
Why did he mention to the kids he has “shot kids younger than him”
Why make a threat like that because you feel disrespected by a child? If he take handle a little push back from kids who aren’t their grandparents, he doesn’t need to be an educator. These kids understand and recognize what verbal abuse is, and what won’t be tolerated.
i remember when i was in 6th grade wayyyy back in 1978: their were a couple trouble makers in my class and these guys tried to drive our 6th grade teacher crazy= it went so far that one of the boys wore his steel toed boots to school 1 day and actually went out and kicked the doors of the teachers car= so regardless there might be something we don't know about going on here

Kids don't know that though, and kids will fucking push your buttons. Especially middle school kids, having patience is hard with middle school kids. I can't imagine what it's like for a combat vet to have to deal with it

The parents think school is some sort of day care center.
Being a teacher is horrible job. When I interned at schools, most teachers seemed depressed. It’s not much different than being a prison guard.

Parents are taking less and less responsibility for their kids actions, then blame teachers.
3-4 classes a day times 35 kids per class equals 105-140 kids one teachers sees in one 8 hour day. There are adults out there who can't even handle their own kids for 8 hours in a day, yet we expect teachers to do it for us.
Teaching kids respect begins at home and if it's not taught there it doesn't get taught to kids period.
@happyhooliedaze and you don't think students dont threaten teachers all the time, students mimic their parents and as adult we know not all adults talk out their issues.
Which plays into my comment of parents taking responsibility for their kids actions, as they are the one who taught them to act in that manner.
I don't see anything wrong with what the teacher said.

We all know the student deserved it by being obnoxious and disruptive. I feel like the teacher handled himself extremely well.
I get that he was frustrated with the bad behavior and He probably could have left out the shooting of kids, but the the most part he was right. Some of these kids are the reason why schools are losing teachers. Oh and the parents are even worse.

Maybe hiring a veteran to teach teens isn't the best idea. But then again, middle school kids are the most misbehaving and disrespectful. They need to be toughened up.
their is a difference from disciplining a kid and telling them gruesome unnecessary things he said he’s “shot kids younger than you” what is he trying to do strike fear into these children my little sister goes to this school and i think its crazy i do think teachers are put under a lot of pressure but i still think his comments were horrible
@@cetzaep I agree that line he said was definitely inappropriate and crossed the line because it sounded more like he was threatening to kill the kid.
If he truly shot and killed children younger than these middle schoolers and is intimidating them with the possibility he might do them in too then he needs therapy and maybe that makes him poor choice right now as a teacher.

He didn't seem like he was in an Outburst. He was calm and spoke the truth. He was at war and shot kids. When you go to High school and are in ROTC they explain that to you. And where is the recording of what the disrespectful kid said?? Kids now are horrible and their parents do not parent.
it's not a junior ROTC classroom, what the teacher done in the past doesn't fit the narrative in these regular middle school classroom, also threat to take the kids out, not cool. military combat type of training classroom, maybe.
I'm still on the teachers side. He wasn't in an outrage.

I see nothing wrong here with the teacher if anything his giving them a taste of the real world. You can’t be out there disrespecting ppl they’ll get caught slipping messing with the wrong one & can be bad.

He sounded pretty calm, and while his words may be harsh and threatening, I'm 100% sure the kid in question did something to warrant that commentary. Does it make it right? No. But is it right when parents can't teach their kids to be respectful to teachers, instead of acting like entitled or gangsta tough brats?
Kids are disrespectful, get over it or earn their respect.
I find nothing offensive about what that teacher said. I've heard middle school and high school kids say some pretty awful things to teachers and substitutes with ZERO consequences. These outraged parents need to spend some time in the classroom to see what teachers face.

First recording/statement about not willing to be disrespected is fine. Now, the second recording/statement is absolutely over the line and can be taken as a threat. Kids are receiving violence left an right these days.

ok lemme be straight, what that teacher said wasn’t cool, but as a student we can be menacing and instigate problems, so i can understand why the teacher lashed out but he didn’t have to say those type of things.

The teacher is not out of hand. Kids nowadays need to be treated that way. They are being very disrespectful to the teachers. Their parents need to blame themselves for raising their kids the wrong way. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
Maybe close the school, that's a solution I would support. In fact, every school that has a teacher who wants discipline in the classroom but isn't allowed to should be closed. Problem solved.
As a teacher in elementary schools I've had kids curse at me, tell me they weren't going to do their work (parents didn't force them), the kids made racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist remarks. I've had kids disrespect me physically by purposely stepping on shoes or throwing stuff. While also having parents not respond to calls, emails, parentsquare so yeah an outburst happens, not excusing what he said but when are Parents, Students and other folks going to be held accountable.
A little too much reality for these entitled kids.
Sadly young kids fighting in war is a reality. You like to thank those that served in the military, at times they have no choice but to kill armed kids.
Perhaps the parents should teach the kids to earn respect as this individual had to endure crap that will haunt him for the rest of his life.

How come the kids don't have a video of what they said or did before that? This is a very biased recording intentionally meant to make the teacher look bad. That's a very difficult job that most of you couldn't handle or do. Give that man a break.

That teacher sounds like he's got some serious PTSD.
If the media says the teacher is bad. That means he’s trying to teach the subject at hand and demands kids to be respectful to that end. If the media says the teacher is being treated unfairly it’s because he’s trying to forcibly talk about his sexuality or teach social justice such as crt

I went to Bancroft I know for a fact there were 10-12 kids in my class who need to here those words who later in life found out the hard way. Are we really this soft parents?

middle school - I've seen how uncontrolled they can get, just get in an area where they is a cluster of them on. a bus stop and see how inappropriate they can get...not all but majority of them are not disciplined
Not just middle schoolers, ANY AGE, don't be bias. Doesn't mean you can go all KARENS to them, let the appropriate process, roles, handles the situation.

Why tho ?? Some of these kids in these schools needs to be disciplined to the highest. I remember when I was in school if you acted out then you recieved SWATS or the Paddle. I never had to get it done but the students that did, Did not get I to as much trouble afterwards.
