@@PoleBarnGarageWhat a awesome car. I actually had two 65s T-birds. The first one my uncle left me when I was a kid and he went off to Nam. I loved that car... A.C. am/FM radio electric seats. Disk brakes. Sequential directionals. The passenger seat would fold straight back , that came in handy with the girls. . the 2nd 65 I had when I was around 35 and lost it in a divorce.. I'm 67 now and wish I can turn back time just to have my first 65 back. Best damn car I ever owned.

My Dad intentionally made me buy a '61 Alfa Romeo Spider left in a cow pasture when I was 18. After a year of sweat, $ and tears, she was running. He showed me how to do everything on that car, because it needed everything, engine, body, wiring and more. He said "George, now you will appreciate having a car and know how to fix one for the rest of your life". Watching you and J.D reminds me so much of my experience, it's great to watch.

But as you said, it's not worth investing a lot of money if the value of a pristine one is only around 6,000 dollars. Get it safely driveable and all the switches working properly and it'll probably soldier on for quite a while.

That is so badass you are building that with your son. My first ride I ever built with my dad was a 53 Ford F100. It was supposed to be my first truck but the truck driving school he worked at closed their doors. We had to sell it. He promised me I would get another one. 6 years ago we found a complete 53 Ford F100 again. 5 years ago my dad went to sleep and never woke up. You two cherish these moments because they don't last long enough and can be taken away in an instate. I can do these type of things with my son, he passed away when he was 2. Love that thing. It's the epitome of 60s styling, really bold, characterful interior, iconic body style. Runs nice, sounds great, has all the traditional Ford stupidity you could ever want (and some Dalton probably doesn't want too!). And I just love the random extra screws stuck in the original seam sealer in the floor. Shows there weren't no robots makin' cars in 1966! I can see why JD wanted one, and might I say, he has an excellent taste in cars, although I'm mildly concerned he seems to be turning into a Ford guy... xD.
I was just wondering when you were doing to footwell sealer that putty scraper looked like it was stuck down pretty good, forever immortalised under the carpet like a little "Dalton was here, 2024".

I use it constantly on my Hondas… it’s called the earthquake mine was 60 bucks and it’ll break seized axle nuts on just about anything and you can use it almost anywhere It’s tiny. I figure in all your experience you’d try a pneumatic but it’s super handy for tiny spaces especially them caliper bolts and any front end work you’d want a impact for. I can't wait to get onto mine after a year of screwing around. You are going to have a great time with this one. These cars are just pimp once they're done. I got mine sitting on a set of 2000ish Mustang Bullitt wheels and tires, 17's and fit just fine in the back, haven't checked the front spacing. But anyways. You guys are going to love this one. Oh, how I wanted to be a car kid! I’m retired, 67 years old, and when asked as a young child what I wanted to be when I grew up my answer was “A concert pianist or a car mechanic.” They both require fine motor skills so I don’t think it was much of a stretch. I did become a music teacher (like my Dad) and neither parent had a bit of motor knowledge or skills. I learned and did what I could, but I am thrilled you’re teaching your son how to rebuild engines and work on vehicles. I stopped doing my own bit of car work (nothing more than carb cleaning, rotor turning / brake pad replacing, oil changing and radiator flushing) at least 35 years ago. But I ALWAYS wanted an older Thunderbird and this video just made my day. Keep it up and love them!

Hey Dally, an old section of railroad track makes a great metal former. We've been using PL premium and self tapers to keep the work trucks from getting pulled over for years. Grind off the heads after the glue sets up and they little divets to fill. Pretty sure you already know this. Oh yeah, roofing valley steel makes the best patch panels, dont use your wifes roasting pan, she gets upset and your truck smells like roast beef for a month.

Hey Dalton I like the t-bird but I really think the original hubcaps would look better on it than the dog dish hubcaps? The Thunderbird was a luxury car and those are nice hubcaps that it had I think it would look good what does original hubcaps my friend I know it's your car and do what you want but personally I think those look better the original ones.

Cool car and a heck of a deal! Personally I’d have to turn those white letters around to the inside because to me a Thunderbird is a traditional whitewall or black wall out kinda car… but that’s just me. 🤷‍♂️😬

I had a '65 Tbird for a long time, my second project car ever. So many weird design quirks: windshield wipers that operate hydraulically off the power steering pump, vacuum operated door locks (and the rear vent, and the parking brake release...) and the sequential rear turn signal lights that operate off of that motor that was screeching in the trunk. There's also a pair of rubber drain boots in the trunk that go from the tray under the rear window to over the rear wheels that rot out and leak a bunch of water into your trunk. All of that aside, it is a great driving car with a ton of style and power. Miss mine all the time.

Yes we are around. Owned by Goodyear now though. I think a lot of the cobras/Avenger GT's are made in Mexico though. There's a few tires like these that are the same thing, just different names and tread patterns. We also own Mickey Thompson too!!

I enjoy your content and always look forward to the next episode. It's refreshing how original you keep it.......just like any guy in his garage fixing up old cars or at least getting them running, no fancy stuff or editing out mistakes or when things don't work as with other creators. This resonates more with the audience I think because let's face it nothing always just works. Now I won't name any names VGG.......what started as a normal show, just turned out too hollywood. Keep your content as is it's awesome, also it's great to see JD getting stuck in on the builds. Watching from Ireland.

My dad love the old “square birds“ because it was his first real car when he started making money. After he retired he collected a few 59,60, 61 Tbirds, and restored them and I got to drive a 60 for a while towards the end of high school. It was in really good shape. That mushy rocket with the big V-8 went 110 miles an hour and still accelerating then I got scared and slowed down. Ha ha.
