Of all the different genres, albums and songs known to me, this is my only favourite song of mine that I can remember the lyrics by heart. Total classic song, makes you ponder on your past, present and future.❤
I remember listening to this song for the first time back in 2011, when I was 19 and heartbroken. I believe every person can interpret art and lyrics depending on their own experiences. To me, a "soldier of fortune" is a person fighting for someone that won't ever be really theirs. So I was myself a "soldier of fortune", fighting and getting hurt for someone that wasn't ever mine, although I was his completely. I've loved this song since I remember anything about myself, even if it always brought upon a subtle sense of melancholy mixed with a would-be-love for the uncertain. These days and looking back at so many years, I still love this song, yet it is harder to bear listening to, as the love for melancholy and uncertainty seem like such a luxury!
